Our Sit On Their Nuts And Do Nothing M D C
bigredbirdfan replied to Chief Grey Bear's topic in Conservation Issues
I fail to see the squirrel inference in the thread topic. Can someone help me out? -
Al: Could you respond to the Federal Law references in this article? http://ccheadliner.com/news/lindenlure-sees-the-color-purple/article_32ced4b4-25bd-11e1-8999-0019bb2963f4.html Additionally, I would like to hear how a dam that doesn't produce power can be a private dam? My only issue here is the dam. How does one get a deed on a dam in public water?

What is wrong with making gigging be permitted and you have to go through a training course before you get one? I thought education with the cornerstone of enforcement.

This is exactly what you want. You will not break any SM off on this and you can see your line which is a huge must. You will not be changing that line for a long long time and then you can take it off and spool it right back in reverse if you want to. There are guides in MN who use Power Pro line forever and they are fighting large Walleyes very deep. If you want to top water take an extra spool with 10 lb mono and just switch them out. Thats my advice for only one rod but I would still use this for your spinning rod even if you take a baitcaster for topwater.

Maybe if we weren't looking through binoculars during the day at a kid smoking dope we could be on the river at night checking people gigging bass.

Yep S bombs and F bombs....sucks....stupid....BS bombs. Typical conservation thread. Now I don't personally take bass home unless there is an accident that kills one and I don't recall every fileting a SM and I really think that SM are one of the coolest species of fish but if there was a real endangerment issue I'm pretty sure that the beloved almighty MDC would be well aware of it and would adjust accordingly. I mean they seem to have different limits on almost every river and even sections of them. I just think a lot of the anger stems from the fact that while some choose not to harvest fish within their legal right others do and it becomes an emotionally angry situation.

So you will admit that poverty exists and that some people do consume some wild game to live? It's just your POSITION and BELIEF that they don't need to eat it because the government or a food bank could give them something else. Would you have the same opinions for Native American Indians? I don't think that most of you even know what poor is. I grew up around people who shoot multiple deer each year to live, filled their freezer with catfish in the summer, crappie in the spring, turkey in the spring and fall just to eat and barely get by.

I think the intent of keeping people from getting hurt from broken glass is clear and I'm all for no glass where it could be broken in the rivers and streams as I like to barefoot on the river quite a bit.

Thats awesome!! Lets get a law for pudding shots

Thanks for your report -
If people don't need to eat wild game then why does the Share Your Harvest program distribute over 300,000 lbs of deer meat each year?

ROTFL. Only a fool brings up abuse by MDC on this forum. You will quickly be dog piled into submission and soon be issued your black suit and white nike sneakers and walk around mumbling how good the MDC is.

North Fork River Property For Sale
bigredbirdfan replied to bknopf's topic in North Fork of the White River
I find it disturbing because there really can't be any civil discourse on what probably are important issues. The snuffing out of anything contrary is rampant on most issues. But alas. I'm happy to report to you that I'm in the process of making some Agnew mods to my solo canoe for the spring including the battery box tacklebox that I'm most excited about. I tend to bring more water in the boat than most so keeping it out of the water will be very nice and one less thing to bungee in. Thanks for posting the pics and the idea. -
North Fork River Property For Sale
bigredbirdfan replied to bknopf's topic in North Fork of the White River
Unbeknownst to Outside Bend and Tim Smith and others many of us do care about water quality and other conservation issues. I guess awards should be handed out to those who post the most and bore us to death with theories, data, personal opinions and policies. Most of the time I post anything it is bacause these eco crusaders seem to dog pile and bully any opinions to the contrary. These same "eco crusaders" seem to turn every post or topic into a "grand stand" on environmental issues with a smattering of personal jabs and insults and quit frankly it's old and lame. That's my view and others on this thread seem to agree. -
North Fork River Property For Sale
bigredbirdfan replied to bknopf's topic in North Fork of the White River
Its up to the buyer whether or not they build on it or not but that will buy that right with the purchase of the land. Maybe in an effort to protect the river a few of you should get together and buy it to prevent any building and what's to stop you or Ted Turner from buying all the property along it and doze it down and return it to it's original appearance 200 years ago? My only problem is it is better suited under the sell/buy section since it is for sale. It's getting really old to have every topic turn into an eco crusade. LAME -

I don't see any menu. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place I guess. -
My favorite river/creek fishing set ups are rebel craw crankbaits and brown worms with pink tails on #3 worm hook and if need be I add a small bullet weight on my line texas style with a rubber piece at varying depths from the worm. I prefer the worm on mud banks and banks with trees and roots. This work especially well if there has been any recent rain activity. The crawdad crankbaits are effective in moving water or after moving water in slack pools. The color on these is important so I keep light brown, brown and greenish brown ones. These are not cheap so if I get hung up with one I dive in and get them back. I will reiterate the less is more theory. On most float trips I take a lot of what was mentioned above and tend to really only use two to three types. If I had to add a third bait it would be brush hogs brown and green. Good Luck.

Do you bass fish down there? I have always wanted to but am not really sure what lures to use at different times of the year.

We hunted Saturday night in flooded corn and it was a clear blue sky until after sunset and shooting was over. While we loaded up the truck we saw probably 1,500 mallards descend into our corn. Had there been any cloud cover providing a ceiling we would have been in the blind for that duck tornado. Dejected we went home and two of us decided to try a different lease Sunday morning This location is set up perfect for a south wind which we had plenty of. The first two birds came in about one hour into the morning and we shot both and since we had no dog we had to wait for the 30 mph wind to carry them to the other side of a 10 acre lake. In the meantime we waited in the blind. Then out of nowhere we had a group of 4 mallards lock up and drop slowly right in front of our faces. Needless to say they were all dead on the water as well. We split up to retrieve and I picked up the two earlier birds and to my heart's delight found 2 bull drake pintails. After the pair of canvas backs we shot early I was amazed what we did yesterday. Anyway, the clouds broke to sun, wind and 55 degrees and they stopped moving around. We ended the day with 2 pintails and 4 mallard drakes and 1 hen. This season was my best and may never be duplicated bc of the weather. The only ice I broke all season was 1 inch sat night.

Congratulations. We shot a pair a week ago.

This was my favorite part of the forum. Am I missing where this in on the new layout or is it just gone now? Thx BRBF

Thanks for the report. Which side of the lake were you fishing on?

Would you share the goose brat and jerky recipes? Thanks for the information. KP returns 2/19 with Season #3. Can't wait.
-
How will you prepare those geese in order to eat that many? I really don't care for goose. I thought about slicing it thin and making into jerkey somehow and try that. I guess goose summer sausage might work too.
