  1. Bigfish, I think under most circumstances you won't have to worry about bigredbirdfan or whodat fishing at night. Maybe talking about fishing at OMalleys at best.
  2. I have asked this question before and got up there and chickened out because the water appeared so shallow, but I will ask again and see if I can convince myself to keep on going. What do I need to look out for while taking my aluminum bass boat above fall creek? Can I anchor up above fall creek or tie on to something? The current moves so fast I cannot keep up with my trolling motor and I like to fish these fast moving area? Any grass bed that produce good fish up there?
  3. Trav Is there Hippie Lettuce in there somewhere ?
  4. Whodat, Maybe you and I can go fish the tournament against? I want to watch this entertainment. Do they make waterproof sleeping bags I can pass out in on the boat ?
  5. At least you can find comfort in the fact that some people cannot afford to take out those big old boats with gas the way it is
  6. What statistics are available on browns released each year?
  7. I really love this. Just like the energizer bunny of topics. Thanks Trav. I know you get serious enjoyment out of this.
  8. Sorry to put the brakes on the momentum you had going here, but the reality is we have all done you know what up a rope and this will be an exercise in that. I had the smaller boat and they reality is go buy a bigger boat you will get much further that way.
  9. Hey Trav, Funny how your personal photo looks a lot like the one on a Bass Pro billboard I saw on the way down 65 saturday. I did have cold adult beverages on board Sunday morning.
  10. Good luck with restricting anything on Table Rock between the cost of $500,000 on up in the way of boats. If you want to talk about money, power and connections you can kiss their wakes.
  11. I guess if I was more technoligically savy and not a lazy I would photo shop out the background of my secret spot. I admit it I am lucky to type a report and add some dang pictures.
  12. I started off the morning late 7:00 a.m. Which was OK because there was FOG everywhere. I was able to fuel up with the ethonal free gas a Scotty's trout dock. My Mercury says yuck to ethonal. I had intended to go to powersite area to meet some friends who had put there boat in down there. I did not have a weather radio and preferred to stay near the landing area in case I needed the wonderful covered docks provided there. I recieved a call from the boss of our household and she was coming to make me tie jigs on one of my poles all morning. I started fishing at 65 bridge while she was on her way and caught two nice fish on jigs. She arrived and of course caught some fish to show me up. I started to throw a Rapala and caught a couple on it. Then she caught a nice Rainbow . So I tie on $3 worth of jigs, untangle one mess on a spinning reel and she catches a bigger fish than me. What a day. We got hungry and just plain curious about the accuracy of Phil's map so we headed to Rockaway. I think I found Trav's dock or maybe Trav's resort I'm not to sure. He does have his dock well identifed that trespassing is not encouraged. Boat was in the stall because I think he stays up all night posting topics and therefore doesn't venture out til later in the day. We talked a resort into letting us leave our boat on their dock as no public docks are in Rockaway. We were told that the city is in the process of putting in a public dock but I didn't leave with a warm fuzzy feeling it would be anytime soon. We walked up the hill to the Pizza Celler and ate a great pizza and a $1.75 draft beers. Doesn't get any better than that. We left and immediatly found ourselves in a downpour. I get an attaboy for remembering to put the bimini top on the boat saturday before leaving Springfield and was pleasantly surprised to use it. Great day on Taney that yielded about 7-8 fish on only a half day fishing and used no bait. I would rather throw a lure until my arm falls off then use bait. Adios.
  13. I'll admit that the White River was a wonderful fishing attraction way before that dam was ever mentioned and probably brought in more money relatively speaking to the area than trout ever could. All the MDC is trying to do is put some fish in there otherwise no fish at all. If you want to say it is about the money then table rock's fishing economy dwarfs Taneycomo. Which agency makes those millions of dollars? Surely their annual budgets should reflect this massive inflow of cash on thier reports? Now if you want to say they won't interject more predator species because they will eat the rainbow population that the MDC spends lots of dollars on I have no problem being in agreement. They take in so much money on the tax they can't buy enough land or hatch enough fish without having to worry about revenue from trout fishing. Oh yea more species of trout was my vote!
  14. I almost posted for you to watch out yesterday when it almost destroyed my house here in springfield. I knew it was headed straight to you, but didn't know if I should use the forum as an all points bulletin for Trav. Next time I will.
  15. We all know fishing generates more money than all spectator sports combined. Although I am sure fishing right now is taking a big cut to groceries and diapers. So who influences the MDC on how to stock rainbow trout in Tanyecomo? Bass Pro Shops? The guides on Taneycomo? HCW? Branson Chamber of Commerce? You guys need to connect the dots a little better to further your case.
  16. Whodat, in the U.S. Minnow I want a picture of this
  17. If Taneycomo Rainbow is all about the money then why don't they require a daily trout tag below the dam? Sounds like the best way to raise a couple of thousand dollars each day anyway. Or is this some kind of Branson Tourism and MDC conspiracy we don't know about?
  18. You are correct sir on the Tarpon. But keep in mind that they are targeting fish that size and expect them. I don't think that most of the guys below the dam count on that fish 20 lbs plus nor do I think fish world record size are even up there. I agree with you that they feed on stocker rainbows and are probably further down Fall creek on down waiting to be stocked themselves. Have you also seen fish break off your 10# line??
  19. Gentlemen and Ladies (because I know there are some on the forum). You might luck out and land one of these 20# plus browns with 10# line maybe if you are extremely lucky given the debris in the water now. I have my doubts. I think you need some 50# line to catch a world record fish in this lake. I would venture to guess a fly rod won't be what lands the newest record in lake Taneycomo. As for Big Brown Trout Arkansas has had the world record 40lbs 4 ozs for 16 years and Taneycomo or all of Missouri has yet to yield a trout anywhere close to that. 26 lbs 13 ozs is not close. That throws in all of the other brown trout water in the world hands down.
  20. I can assure you she would. They have something to say about everything. Maybe that kind of entertain district could be established in Rockaway to go along with my gambeling habit. Just kidding. I never win so therefore I don't bet.
  21. What if any details were available on these state records from Taneycomo? Bait or Lure type? Gear used particulary the line type and size used?
  22. And to think that Rick Hendrick took Kyle's ride to give to JR. What a dumb bass move. I hope they sell lots of Mountain Dew stuff to help offset the price for not winning. I guess the really big ? is who will be driving the #20 in the future??? Speaking of which what the hell is his problem this year? Is it all Toyota's fault he can't seem to find the top 5?
  23. I think you will do just fine as long as you don't have Whodat in the boat with you.
  24. Great map
