  1. No, thats my job now! Why are you trying to give the task of "grammar Nazi" back to Eric? He lost that mantle weeks ago! Hey, Chief Grey Bear, I'd be happy to show you around BSSP if you make it down here on one of my days off...
  2. good for you! I echo the other poster question in asking, which brand did you get? Do you have a two piece or a three piece? Thanks! Seems to be working so far... I would strongly suggest that you avoid any free trial offers you may find online.. I have yet to read of one good experience with a "free trial" offer online.. Maybe you'll get luckier than those I have spoken with, but the phrase "nothing in this world is free unless it cannot be bought at any price" comes to mind.. "No such thing as a free lunch" crops up in my subconscious as well.. Best of luck though, even if its a bit of an expense upfront I am swiftly becoming a believer in their ability to assist me in putting down the "analog" smokes... As of right now it's been three days since I lit a cigarette.. My senses (smell, taste) have already EXPLODED back onto the scene (my house and my Tracker both stink like an ashtray)and my wife is definitely enjoying the option of curling up close to me without having to worry about getting smoke in her face or ashes in her hair... But my boss still thinks I am an idiot who is throwing good money after bad.. That's okay though, I have a penchant for proving him wrong.. lol
  3. Tastes quite different than a cigarette, but it gives that pinching feeling in your throat like a cigarette.. Dunno if it'll work "with beer" like you want it to... I don't drink much and I crave tobbacco either way so my answers wouldn't be of much help.. The website I researched this all on was: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ The website I ordered from is www.cigeasy.com I can't necessarily give a recommendation in which model to try, but I like line so far.. It's a KR808D-1, one of the two most popular models.. Check it out, and I'll keep updating here with my progress.. Which is, BTW, 22 hours without so much as even WANTING a cigarette.. lol (I am a gadget guy, so I'm hoping that my enthusiasm will be the same after the "newness" wears off)
  4. Well it's been 5 hours since my last cigarette.. (still keepig the half pack in my pocket as a security blanket) I've given myself a nicotine buzz two or three times with this e-cig showing it off.. Seems to be doing the trick for kickng the cravings... So far.. I'll be fishing tomorrow morning, so that will be the real test.. lol Thanks to all those who have replied here or via PM, it been nice knowing there is support out there, even if I am just a weak willed lil wimp.. lol
  5. I've been smoking a pack a day for over 15 years, and my main issue with my many attempts at quiting cold turkey have always ended poorly, with me making a quick decision between: A. Go smoke a CIGARETTE or B. Give in to my urges and tear the stuffing out of whatever creature happens to be in my way.. Be that a customer, a laptop, a family pet or even the wife. Basically I get so beside myself that I am homicidal/suicidal.. Not a good way to be.. Last time I tried to quit I walked around like that for a solid month, with NO reprieve. I don't wanna kill anyone or lose my job over my attitude (not to mention that, even if keep the job, it definitely adversely effects my performance), let alone doing somethig I may regret forever (like strangling the cat or something worse).. I just wanna quit being dependant upon them... We'll see how well this alternative works, wish me luck.. For those off you considering making a similar leap of logic, keep your eyes peeled for an update.. My kit should arrive tonight.
  6. Just curious, busted em for what, exactly?
  7. I brought 8 to hand using a white maribou, most were caught just below the dam from the rock pocked side..
  8. I'm alternating between four right now, one for each reading spot (in bed, on the John, etc): Sea of Swords by RA Salvatore Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank Book of Five Rings by Myamotu Musashi The Calling of Dan Matthew by Harold Bell Wright And of course my old standby (if I read it again it'd be the hundredth time) How to Win Friends and Influence People by Mr Dale Carnegie But if you want a full list of my favorites it's gonna be a long one.. Actually my list above is a great representation of my interests.. A little self help, a lil Sci-Fi, a chunk 'o fantasy and a "based on a true story"...
  9. Other than my favorite little maribou, the actual flies I have success on so far are wooly buggers and stoneflies.. But im not much of a barometer for what's best with the fly rod..
  10. I ordered a starter kit online from cigeasy.com ($45.00), so I'll report bac and let you all know my progress.. If I don't pull my hair out and chew my nails off first! lol this story made me want to consider another alternative to my horrid habit: http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-11705-NY-Holistic-Body--Spirit-Examiner%7Ey2009m7d12-Are-the-new-FSC-firesafe-cigarettes-making-smokers-sicker-than-ever Yeeeesh! I want to intake LESS carcinogens, not more! And carpet glue of all things!
  11. Bwah-hah-ha!!! lol Good luck, maybe we'll bump into each other...
  12. Well I don't necessarily plan on quitting smoking by utilizing these things, but i figured even if the expense was about the same it would be a healthier alternative that smoking.. It would keep the burn holes out of everything, it would increase my wifes desire to be close to me, it would decrease the turn off some customers get when they smell my smokey odor, etc... I recognize that a "want" to quit is the only thing that will truly drive these poisonous things away from my daily schedule of bad habitual routines. That's for reminding me though.. lol So, anyone who has tried them or owns one?
  13. I have heard numerous stories from folks I know (online and in the "real" world) who have had good experiences with them, whether that be as a replacement for cigarettes or as a cessation technique.. Just looking for input from any locals who may currently own one, or have owned one. I am doing plenty of research online, but what have ye locals to say on the matter?
  14. Good to hear.. Charlie seems like a decent fellow, one with a story for just about everything.. I bought my line from him and hexwas kind enough to string it up and show me what he was doing, as well as explain EVERYTHING about the line, my rod and reel, and whatever tying material I was fidgeting with at the time. I don't know him too well, but I have been selling work trucks to his brother for years and I do have plenty of respect for his business ethics.. I assume the two share similarities there.. Good luck, swing through zone two on Sunday, I may be lucky enough to get a "kitchen pass".. Look for a tall lanky fella in a red beer nuts hat tossing a maribou jig and drawing a crowd of onlookers..
  15. Dunno.. Ask em? http://readingflyshop.com/ 417-588-4334
  16. snicker, snicker.. Yeah, I cost a bit more than a garmin.. especially if you expect me to put my fishing pole down and direct you toward the fish! On a similar note: on the very next fishing trip I Solus outfished me by darned near 100 fish! (from now on the rules clearly state that shad don't count on the talley board!)
  17. The best fish finder is a Cricket in the front of the boat, but you won't like the hourly rate.. Only the Truth, scouts honor!! !! Good luck in your fish finder hunt, I look forward to helping you learn how to use it.. Bwahahaha!!! Might want to identify for these fine advisor fellows what type of boat this fishie finder will be for, as well as what type of options you are looking for and what type of water you will be fishing on mainly.. Might even throw in what species you are targeting.. You fish the lakes exclusively, drift for cats, hunt for bass or crappie/whites.. I know you want one that has two different screens, one for the front of the boat and one for the console.. What else?
  18. Wondered if you'd catch this post.. lol (kidding aside ... Thanks for the compliment)
  19. Finally, a thread about my favorite lure! Yay! I have been fishing for a long time and have learned to use many differing techniques, but my confidence bait has always been a 1/16th ounce jig.. Thanks for posting about them, they truly are an awesome and age old bait that is trusted by many.. Still cracks me up everytime I hear someone say "You caught that on a what? A Malibu jig?" Yeah, call me Malibu Cricket.. lol
  20. well, if he was studying YOUR dictionary he would have been done hours ago! lol (sorry, couldn't resist)
  21. Well I did alright myself.. I started just above the dam and didn't go more than a 1/4 mile from there downstream.. I stuck with my ultralight and my little maribous and left my waders in the tracker.. I hooked a few above the dam and had one pretty big one hit my lure 5 times, but just didn't get the hook in there right, never did feel a tug.. Oh well, too cold for breaking out the camera anyway.. Least that's my excuse... Hooked a few more below the dam and down under the bridge. Then I walked over to the outlets just below the raceways.. The fish were stacked up there (as usual) and I hooked a good ten there before they got wise to my maribous. Didn't hook any lunkers there, but that may be because the majority of the ones in thathole were belly up dead. I counted at least 4 trout that would have been 5 lbs or more (all rainbows) and several smaller trout.. Dunno why or how, maybe the herons got them? One things for sure, no one can blame it o the giggers! lol fished on down the stream, walking along the rock ledges below the bridge.. Managed to bring on up behind every rock and twig.. But no monsters there either. Watched a fly guy land one that woulda went 6 lbs, I heard him say he foul hooked it, then corrected himself when he unwound the fish and found the fly securely in his mouth. Thought I'd test the theory and, upon walking back upstream I commented "Did I hear you say you snagged one that went 6 pounds?" with a smile and a thumbs up.. He looked at me a little crossways and said (politely), "no, I was afraid I had snagged him, but it was in his mouth!" I just chuckled and said "Oh, I didnt mean to imply anything.. I use the term snag rather loosely.. Sorry. Good catch man!" anyway.. That's pretty much the whole story. I ended the day with a notch count of 22, and I recall at least 10 that spit the hook were over 10 pounds! (that's my story, and I'm stickin to it!)
  22. Sounds like a decent truck for the money.. Does it have a limited slip rear end?
  23. I am an auto salesman who works for a franchised dealer.. I can attest to the fact that there are some major disadvantages to buying your auto outside of a franchised dealer, whether that be from an ad posted by a member of OAF, at Joes used car lot or from Sister Mary, the nun next door. I could post that informational on every personal car ad on here, but I don't. Instead I post as much positive info as I can, or I steer clear of the ad. Sure, losing a customer to a personal ad (that might be a major problem vehicle, rollback, priced way too high, prone to transmission failures, etc) is a bit frustrating sometimes.. But being respectful sometimes means holding your tongue. Good luck on your sale Brian, sounds like a cheap deal...
  24. Keep your eye out for me, I'll be there by noon or so and gone by 3.. I'll most likely be just above or below the dam.. Hunting those lunkers with a maribou.. Might get adventurous and bring the fly rod, but I don't know what zone that will end me up in.. Anybody wanna make a guess as to what pattern/lure will work best tomorrow?
  25. Fishing does feel like a direct connection to the almighty.. Never have been able to figure out which of the 70,000 Gods I am connecting with.. (isn't there a roman god that was a fish-lover? Maybe its him..).. But it gives me peace, which is rare in this world. That and a psychic told me once that I would be abducted by aliens while fishing.. Still waiting on that prophecy to pan out.. Nice post.
