  1. Edwin, well you know how I feel about these.. Yes the 798 is well worth the money and will give you the same performance as my big units.. You can get on the internet and search for 798 c SI units and get a much better price in the long run.. Here is one I found right off the bat.. http://www.midwesthuntersoutlet.com/item.aspx?pid=107008 $912.00 and other for around 1,000.00, before you buy call these places and speak with them make sure these include the transducer, you can really save alot of money if you do alittle research alot better prices than Bass Pro for sure!! This is how I bought my first units until I was put on there pro staff, my price for my first 900 unit was as cheap as the pro staff cost, so look around and save some money.. And if you get the time yes stop by Doug's site on Yahoo sideimaging groups, great place spend some time on there myself. I was thinking about placing my unit on that site myself, going to replace it with the new 1197.. I would sell my 997cSI for 1500.00 and it still under warranty.. Good Luck and let me know when you get one I can assist with installation and reading it.. Good Fishing Capt. Don
  2. JayBird, that would be nice.. I thinking of upgrading my 997 to the 1197, but they won't take it in on trade and I'm on there pro staff, just have to sell it out right and get 1500.00 for it then add another 600-700 dollars for the new 1197.. Ouch!! Good Fishing Don
  3. Flippin, the Chronarch is already sold, the Cardiff is two years old but I only used it twice and put it in a box, did not like it.. Have you ever seen the Shimano Scorpion 1000 4x4 it was the Japan version of the Chronarch, really I liked it better than the chronarch myself.. Thanks Don
  4. Yup all but one is RH... I had a Quantium Burner LH but it is gone. There is a LH Diawa that I used for Spooning.. I wish I had 10 more of these in a LH model I could make a ton of money!!! Hey, would you be interest in a Humminbird 997SI??? Think I'm going to sell mine for 1450.00 not even a year old and order my new 1197. See Ya Don
  5. I have 7 Reels left which I would like to sell all in good shape, these and have been cleaned and oiled. Here is what I have. All Gone... Thanks Everyone Good Fishing Capt. Don
  6. Jay Bird, for that really good Grub Bite in May and June we are fishing all of the flat long pea gravel main lake points around the DAM area. Slow rolling these baits back and allow them to scrub the bottom back to the boat in is the trick. Yes, I have seen the new 798 C2SI unit, pretty dang nice for the money, and yes adding two SI slots really helped. Besides that the other big thing was the high res screen, really nice for sure.. When you get close to coming down here keep checking in on this site, there is alot of good information posted by alot of us on a week to week basis, that will keep you informed!! Good Fishing Don House
  7. NICE TOAD, and even better in your new boat!! Well so was that 997 Humminbird worth the money? I just love mine! Good Fishing Don
  8. Jason, Althought this year it really did not matter they were just eating alot all the time and with all of the flooded water they never stopped. But really the best time for some good smallies is right around End of May and June. We get a great swimming grub bite around the DAM area and that will get you into some good small mouths for sure, one of my favorite times of the year during that time frame. Good Fishing Don
  9. Yup, threw a couple in the car... be there at 10:00am.. Don
  10. There was a change in schedules with this event.. Friday it is open all day but the seminars don't start until 6:00pm.. Saturday is still as planned.. 9am to 6pm... Thanks Don
  11. Coyote, I will help Eric and answer that one, it's my back yard.. Beardsley is across the lake from Table Rock State Park or look for Point 2 in the Long Creek Arm south of DAM. There is a Large Island right in front of it, creek goes way back in and forks at the back. Enjoy and Good Fishing Capt. Don
  12. Pretty much for 2009 is to find more locations and catch more fish, Plus a few Guide Business Goals. Pretty Simple, and Mr. Bill, Yes I do love to stickbait fish it's one of my favorite Winter and Early Spring things to do.. Techo, as far as making the tournment championship, S&M is right on the money, just show up to every tournament and catch at least one fish and you will get the call, been there done that.. Good Luck to you! Good Fishing and Happy New Year Everyone
  13. Well T1365, I'm going to say it will be a replacement. Call George and still get his imput, but I have done this one myself.. Once you bend a shaft getting it back is just about slim to none.. Well at least you caught 20 crappie and got a day on the water with your dad, look at it that way.. Hey are you going to CCM Walleye and Crappie Show on Friday and Saturday? Would like to meet you if you will be there.. Good Fishing Don
  14. Gary I seen some at Bass Pro in Springfield, Also just not springfield Southtown Sporting Goods 3030 South Main Joplin, MO 64804 417-624-4087 Good Fishing Don
  15. Yes they are a loomis look a like, nice rods just not for me.. Don
  16. Donna, glad to see you got out! Edwin let us know how you do, that spoon information is right on the money by Cajunangler, I'm trying to get out this next week myself just for that spoon bite, plus I need a break from everything else.. Make sure you check the major creek arms about 3/4 of the way back right in the middle of the creek. Been finding some good ones hanging in the trees with shad.. Good Fishing Everyone Don
  17. Hey Techo, was that guy from Collinsville IL, or Outlaw Rods?? Just curious.... Don
  18. I like the Zoom Speed Craws 4" and the Zoom Bitzy Craws, also love that twin tailed Chompers Grub 5", and maybe a little beaver added in... Good Fishing Don
  19. My Vote goes to Grandt Rods, an All Amercian Made series Rod. These All-American Series are the best rods I have found for the buck, even better for guiding, great feeling and very lightweight, 6'0, 6'6 or 7'0 Med or Med Heavy, 60 Million Modules rod with titanium oxide guides and a great hard to beat warranty. It is really the last time you buy that model of a rod for life for around 109.00 to 124.00. If you want something little bit more then look at the XLH70 Models with Reserve Power models 70 Plus modules of graphite and a kevlar wrap in the butt section to give you a much heavier backbone for pulling power but the upper section for feeling the bites.. These start at about 260.00 to go to 350.00 for his 25th Annverisary models. Alot to look at out there, tons of rods, just find one that feels good to you and a company that will be around.. Good Luck Capt. Don
  20. Gary, well there is Grandt Rods, he has 60 million in his All-American Rods and 78 million on his XLH70 rods, then there is your higher end St Croix I can't remember the model number but it is their end rods, Legend Extreme I think. There is the IMX Loomis which comes out at about 50 million and some of the LamaGlass Rods and of course Kistler Rods the Argon TS Models.. Remember there is more to buying a rod besides the modules of graphite, Also pay attention to the reel seats, I really like the Pacific Bay these should be made out of Alumunim, Graphite or even now Carbon and or Titanium. Also look at your guides on the rod, do they have single foot guides or double foot guides, doubles are much better but it does add some weight to your rod, but will hold up to alot more than the lightweight single foot guides. These guides or guide rings should be titanium oxide, Stanless Steel, Gold Cermit or Carbon Steel, also look to see if the feet or ring frames are Titanium, Steel or Carbon. Titanium would be the best for weight and strength. Next look over the warranty, make sure it is uncond lifetime, with a small replacement fee, mine are under 25.00 dollars and is that for return shipping back to me.. Take a look at all of these you will see the price come up alot, but these are all high end rods.. Good Fishing Capt. Don
  21. Flippin, don't quote me but I think they are around 45-55 million modules per inch.. May be hard to find that answer, but really alot of these rod companies do not want you to know that information or keep it quite. Alot use lower Graphite levels to balance out price of the blank and keep the over all cost of the rod down. Ask is all you can do.. Good Fishing Capt. Don
  22. Snakem, Thank you for the kind words, maybe someday we can get together and go play.. Hope that unit is working well for you. Merry Christmas Capt. Don
  23. snkrohn, well dang... Yes that is a problem big time.. Not too much you can do, unless maybe a bracket on the head or just mount the transducer on the head and you leave the cable loose or attach cable to shaft while using only with velcrow so it is not flopping around... I had the same unit placed on my new boat, first thing was to replace it to a regular lift assist drive unit. Hope that helped some.. Merry Christmas Capt. Don
  24. snkrohn, yes the transducers built into the heads of the minnkotas are just basic transducers or 200mhz only/single cone. I use these for a back up on my boat. I run a outside transducer unit for my electronics, I run humminbird but I really don't think it matters at all.. Good Fishing Capt. Don
  25. Techo, your right on the money, tournament stuff is just for fun for me also.. I would love to win some money but don't plan on it very much.. Just nice to go out and fish and not have to hold hands or tell everyone else where to cast and watch.. Tournament time is my relaxing time, plus the love the hunt.. CPA and Heartland are really good series to learn if you are on the AM side of the boat. Most Pro's are very willing to teach you what you need to advance in the ranks, if you want to learn from the best in these waters, worth every pennie. Good Fishing Everyone Capt. Don
