ZZ, yes we are getting close for the real hard swimming grub bite to take off.. Really my best time is right after the spawn.. But it works all of the time so we found this year even in the deep winter months.. Size of Grub: I really stay with two basic sizes 3 inch and the larger 4 inch as well.. Both work very well were the small size is for harder times and a slower bite. Size of Jig Head: I used from a 5/16 to 3/8 ounce dart head with a good wide gap hook. The dart head seems to swim better and takes on the rocks alot better without getting hung.I will change the weight only when it is needed like a heavy wind stay with the 3/8 or a lighter wind or slower fall I will go back to the 5/16.. Colors: Well there are about 5 main ones that I use on a daily basis.. Stay with your natrual colors like Green Pumpkin, Smoke, Salt and Pepper are the best right off the bat.. You can use all types as well like Watermelon with Red Flakes, Purple Flakes, Gold Flakes or Smoke with Red flakes.. The list goes on and on.. So just get some of the basic colors and start there.. Banks to fish this on... Well I like to throw these guys every where, but the easiest bank is the flat pea gravel banks on the main lake points.. Tons of them everywhere.. You will see alot of us on here talking about scrubbing a grub, this is what we are talking about.. Also don't forget to verical fish these as well.. Bite gets good also when the fish get into the deep water trees... Hope that helped some Good Fishing Don

Ok let's take this in parts... First: Yes I run the SI transducer on both trolling motor and Stern, both have there own neat things they do, like on the trolling motor during the early summer and fall for looking at dock cables and for fish up under the bigger docks. The stern unit is for more defined search and locating new stuff, like channels, ditches, creeks, humps, the list just goes on and on.. Second: Yes the Humminbird SI does work at the same time as the Down Imaging and the 2-D or Vertical screen. Third: No the Lowrance Structure Scan is not setup the same, Humminbird Si Transducers are all in one. That means a transducer for the Side Imaging, also the Down Imaging and also the 2-D (200/83Mhz verical fishing)is built into the same unit. So we have true all-in one.. Lowrance has a Transducer for each (1) 2-D and (1) Structure Scan, plus an additional box with cables. The debate goes on and on as to which is best, All I know mine makes my job easier and that was well worth my investment.. Any more question just keep asking... Good Fishing Don

Jason, no the screen is still moving.. The Transducer is still cutting slices of what is under you and displaying them on the screen. Even still just the same looking image, just like a video camera, hold it still same image, but as you start to move it will start to display the newer information on the screen. We can control screen speeds to get a more defined pictures as well. Clear as Mud? Good Fishing Don

Sounds Good Eric... Caught the heck out of those little silver guys today, fish at every stop... Later Big Guy.. Don

Champ we hit the mud line about 4 miles south of the Viola boat ramp.. Made it down about 2 miles from the Hwy 86 bridge and then came back up.. Sorry, I don't know creek names and stuff, I don't get to fish this area very much.. Probably why Mr. Prey took me up there. Good Fishing!! Don

Well Eric and I met up the Kings river for a few hours of just playing.. Happy to say the day started off with a good few hours of fishing.. We caught fish on Jigs, Stickbaits and Wiggle Warts.. All of our bigger fish did come on the Stickbait. Slow with a small pause (15 seconds at best)... I think if we would have really been fishing hard and not just playing around we could have really loaded up on these fish.. Went up farther up river to the muddy water and found warmer water and some wiggle wart fish but the bite was better before the mud line in a little clearer water.. Still all in all a great day just to get out and play.. I would go into more detail but gave my word not to give out too much info and areas. One spot held just about all of our fish with about a 100 yard stretch of bank.. Will say fish the channel banks, channel bends and bluff ends, may fish 200 yards of bank and nothing, then bang there they are.. After noon the wind picked up and then bite flat died, fished until 3:00pm figured out it was time to head to the house.. Thanks Eric had a great time.. Good Fishing Everyone Don

Slab Hunter, the guys are right on the money.. Might be just a little early for Small Jaws around the Dam as well, but I would think it is still your best chance larger population around there.. I really start to catch the smallies much better at the beginning of May, grub bite really takes off.. But you can go drag some small trick worms or craws in Natural colors "Green Pumpkin or Watermelon base colors" on a split shot rig from Kimberling to the Dam. Stickbaits will be producing some good fish as well, Mr. Babler has done a very good job of explaining those guys, go back and read all of his post and look at his pictures, very good information there. Do spend some time right around Kimberling City really good fishing in those creeks arms and main lake areas points, flats and bluff ends.. Mill Creek itself is very really good, Fischer Creek (I think that is spelled right..) It is the creek on the left right before the Kimberling City Bridge. Very good fishing back inside of that guy as well, Past the Bridge is Schooner Creek and Whites Branch all on the left side of the boat going towards point 7 and the DAM.. Get some light line and a spinning reel and a good bait caster and throw these baits you will catch that Small Mouth.. Good Fishing Don

Redbud, no that was a 455 as well on a 997... Really the 800mhz it not the best on the 997 I would stay on the 455. Now it does work much better on the 1197 with the screen size.. Need that larger screen for resolution. Still very impressive, detailed, pictures you have it tuned in well. Love the one where you can see the bridge that collapse!! Even see it long the bottom very nice.. These will be view around the internet for sure... If it ever get any warmer I will get out myself or at least above 25.. Will get some on the 1197 in 800 Mhz and post here soon... Good Fishing Don

Just mounted a new one on my transom, now I can run the unit on the front or back instead of forking out another 2500.00 dollars for another unit.. Have found I like it more on the back during the spring into Early Summer then move it up front for the deep water season.. I know cheap way out but it works for me.. Transom mount helps you to be level and above the out flow of water from your boat and does seem to work the best. But I do know alot of guys have switched from the Jackplate Mount to a new thru the hull unit on Humminbird right up in the step up on these bass boats, they tell me it does work much better and even add's High Speed SI.. The Vibration issue is there on the jackplate models but not that big of an issues besides having to adjust the transducer or re-tighten back into place alot.. Biggest help for the Humminbird guys on a jackplate mount is to protect from stumps so they place it up inside of the jackplate.. Capt. Joe my question is the first few pictures shows the transducer at an angler or not level.. Or does it level out in the water off the trailer? Very good install nice and clean!! Like your mount as well does it have a metal protector for the top of the transducer, for say if you slide off a tree of the bottom of the boat and it hits the bottom of the jack plate or right on the transducer? Looking for a new one for my boat as well.. Will drop you an email today about going to see Mr. B talk, seeing if I can get away, worth the time to go here him speak! Maybe if we show up we can get a White River Lodge Hat? Good Fishing Don

Bill, you got my vote!! I remember last year being cut off more than once fishing up the white past Baxter.. Even remember one of the big named wrapped boat came flying in cut us off made two or three casts then looked at like we were in his way, started up right in front of us and took off full blast.. Jerk, even my client could not believe it.. Anyway will not hurt my feelings at all.. Good Fishing Everyone.. Don

Mo, go to the BBC board and look for the Humminbird Area right up at the top.. Send a message to Doug V he is from Truman Lake and he has a bunch of great pictures of that pond... Red Bud, will be looking for you, I will be out as well... Look for the Big Blue Tanker.. Easy to see and find!! 97Pro, go to www.yahoo.com, select groups, search for SideImaging join group and have fun!! TONS of information!!! Best site around for sure... Good Searching Everyone Don

Really neat stuff for sure, so neat that the MO Water Patrol is using them now for search and recovery.. I have seen pictures of bodies, cars, safes, just about anything you can think of it can be found.. Also read that there is a lot of Insurance companies now using these to find insured stuff. There is a few in Florida that are looking for cars that were driven off the piers, sense the market crashed! They find them and then send the divers down and most still have the keys in them... Funny... Don

Good Luck go break some Ice!! Don

Digging through all of my OLD S/D cards and found this one.. It is a Side Imaging shot of a Big Spoonbill on Table Rock Lake last year on opening day you can see the white line which is the fish.. Now look at the shadow, you can see the spoon shaped Nose and V tail of the spoonbill... Good Fishing Everyone.. Don

Yes I do on the 1197 model... The 800 Mhz is very detailed!! Thanks for the GPS marking I might get out this week and try to find it myself.. Also If I can would you mind If I use some of your shots to be placed on other web sites, you will get full credit on each picture.. There is about 5 of us Humminbird sponsored guys that are placing as many pictures as we can find on all the web sites we can. Also make sure you join the Yahoo Side Imaging Group, this is a great place with ton's of help and even the factory Engineers like to hang out and answer questions.. Doug V runs the site and is a very good friend and really good at this.. Next on Bass Boat Central there is another really good group as well, Doug also runs that one as well. We are looking at building a DVD on the use and setup of these units sometime this year we hope.. Maybe someday here soon before I start guiding you and I can get out and go to the old bridge and get some pictures, I have it marked really good. Keep posting shots these are really good!! Good Fishing and keep looking down and to the sides!! Don

Bill, Ya that Chi-town show was not very good last year as well.. But I did here the new one at the RoseMount this weekend was really good.. As far as those boats not really sure of any myself down here, maybe some of the other guys here that have sponsor with some dealership can help.. You might want to go up towards KC or St.Louis to find those or call the Company and ask for dealers in this part of the state.. Also if you get a chance take a look at G3 Boats line of Deck Boat fish and Ski's.. They are a local company made in Lebanon MO.. Good Luck Don
