  1. Thanks for the info! I didnt make it there today...but tomorrow (weather and generation schedule permitting) Id like to get over there. Is the access at Cotter easy to find?
  2. So, I made it down below the darn today. It was a little wet, but by mid-day it wasnt to bad. I had no luck whatsoever! I threw everything thing at them that I had in my fly box. Guess I need to get some new flies. Maybe I wasnt holding my mouth right. Who knows. Anyone else make it out this weekend?
  3. So, after reading all these posts and topics and seeing the pictures of the fish...Im figuring its time to head over and fish the White River. Ive lived in Arkansas for about 3 years but have yet to make it to there. Any advice on locations and fly patterns to use would be GREATLY appreciated! Also, I dont have a boat so Im looking to wade. How reliable is the reports from the Corps about generation? Thanks in advance!
  4. So, Im thinking about making a trip below the dam tomorrow, weather and generation permitting. Any suggestions on what to use while Im there? Thanks!
  5. Those are pretty nice. I didnt do to well the last time I was up there, even after coming by your shop! Perhaps next time will be better!
  6. So it looks like it will be a nice day tomorrow and im planning my first RR trip of 09! Based on the other posts, it looks like the trout are biting! I often read posts about people going to places that I apparently cant find when im there! Ive guess ive only ever been to zone's 1 and 2..maybe 3?? I guess im asking how to get other places. Im coming from Fayetteville and come in to the park up by the Resort. Which way do I need to head to get to the other places, perhaps the ones closer to the end of the park? Also, any suggestions on what to use? Im sure ill swing by Tim's!!
  7. I got to go out on the 20th about mid-day. It was VERY cold! It was a slow day for my friend and I. I guess I wasnt holding my mouth right because I left having only caught 2!! Its been a long time since Id left catching fewer than 10! I tried bead-heads, jigs of various colors, san juans, dry flies...nothing really worked. The weekend before (13th and 14th) I couldnt get them off my line fast enough! They were hitting anything chartreuse those days. Hopefully the next time Im down that way Ill have better luck. Ill probably move around more too instead of staying in one pool! This one fly tournament sounds really interesting. How would I find out more information?
  8. So, I was wondering if anyone has made it down below the dam and had any luck? Have they been able to restock the area? I know with the weather starting to get cooler the trout fishing is going to start picking up all over and below the dam at Tenkiller is one of my favorite spots! Any information would be great! Thanks
  9. So would heading there tomorrow be a waste of time with the weather that we are about to get? Will they be generating early tomorrow morning?
  10. I was up there last week and had lots of luck with a hopper. The fish ended up tearing it up to the point it was hard to fish with. I also caught a few on a redass, a beetle, and flying ant. I hope to make it up there again soon. I think im just going to fish Zones 2 and 3 from now on. They seemed to be more productive for me.
  11. I may have changed my mind, looks like its going to be raining most of the day. Not sure if its worth the trip in gas if im not going to get to fish that much!
  12. I didnt find Zone 3 for some reason. Do I have to drive to get there, or can I walk from Zone 2?
  13. Coming up tomorrow to try my luck!
  14. Just read your reply. Sorry for the late response. I plan on going up there sometime this week, Im just not sure when.
  15. Very Nice indeed. They just need to be closer....
  16. Well my Roaring River fishing experience was much better this time around! I caught 11 this trip...3 were really nice ones! I caught 4 on dry flies...It was the size, not really the color that mattered 18-22. I got a few hits and landed one on a black wooly, a few on a chartreuse San Juan and got a few hits on a bead head prince. It wasnt as crowded as I expected, but I guess thats due to it being the middle of the week. I look forward to bringing my fishing buddies up that way sometime soon! Hopefully the dry fly fishing picks up more!
  17. One of these days has turned into tomorrow morning! Ill make the 1 1/2 hour drive up to the Roaring River State Park from Fayetteville Arkansas and try my luck at catching some trout! Ive read over several of your posts and think I have what I need to be productive. If not, Ill swing by your fly shop when it opens!
  18. Awesome! Gotta get them started early! Plus..if they stick with it, buying for Birthdays just got that much easier!
  19. Ill have to plan a trip up to the Roaring River. I havent been there in a few years! Last time I went it was a slow day, only caught two. A lot has happened since then, Im older, fatter, balder...but more experienced! I look forward to coming to fish your home waters Tim!
  20. Interesting. If only there were attractive young women in bikinis that liked to fly fish...then I would be set! I may have to mapquest the North Fork and plan a trip sometime soon. Ive got that itch to trout fish and there is only one cure....
  21. Good Point. I just like catching fish on a fly rod as well and Ill try anything I have in my various fly boxes to get ANYTHING to bite! Where is this Conservation Area Located?
  22. Is the North Fork wadable at this point in time? Im REALLY wanting to do some trout fishing, but I dont want to have to drive all the way from Fayetteville to find that I cant wade and fish for trout. Can anyone give me some information please? Thanks!
  23. I'm impressed on how you got that Copperhead to lay on your welcome mat long enough to get measured and have its picture taken. Kudos!
  24. A big hello to all on the forum! As my profile states, I'm a newbie. I'm an avid fly fisherman, but find time to do a little lead chunking every now and then. I joined up so that I could get some advice from my fellow anglers. I look forward to hearing from you and offering what advice I can...when I can
