  1. Ok all, just got back from my annual trip down to Table Rock Lake and staying in Little Aunts Creek(Oak Hill Resort). Heres where, what and when I fished. April 27th-Tuesday night(8pm-11pm)-Ton of moss in Little Aunts, went up river to PT. 12, no moss. Caught about 25, mix of all bass on a Tomato Gene Larew Salt Craw. No keeps, but at least half of those were 14-14 1/2 inches. April 28th-Wednesday-(10am-6pm)-Sunny. Ton of fish caught off of main lake pockets and points from Wolfpen all the way to Shell knob. Smoke Yamamoto 5 inch grubs with black heads. Any smoke works(no flake, black flake and red flake). Caught probably 40 fish, 8 keeps and about 5 that were in that 14-14 1/2 range. If the grub bite went away, throw a Fish Dr. in green with red flake on a split shot rig, 6lb fluro. Cast as deep ast you can and drag it up the point. Wednesday night-Went back out to Wolfpen, threw the grub all the way up till 12am(i know, right?) and caught 3 keepers, 20 shorts and got into a mess of white bass. Best white bass easily went 3 lbs, absolutely huge! April 29th-Thursday-(10am-6pm)-Sunny and windy! 30-50mph winds! Fishing was same as Wed though to a 'T' but was even better, couldnt believe it. No fishing that night. April 30th-Friday-(9am-till the storms came in) grubs. Simply put. Not as crazy of a day but still had about 4 keepers. No fishing that night. May 1st-Saturday-(9am-6pm) Grubs and Fish Dr. on Split Shot. Fishing was a bit slower, about 20 caught and 2 keeps. Pattern every day was the exact same. If it was sunny and windy, you would find them on main lake pockets and points. If it got cloudy and wind died down, water melon grubs or the spook was fun to use. Our best 5 bass of trip went 20-24 lbs. Biggest fish of the trip was a 4.5 LM, biggest suprise was the White Bass and the one that made us laugh was a 1 1/2 lb goggle eye. Absolutely lights out trip! Its going to get better for you guys down there, parts of the lake are not spawned out and fish are still moving up.
  2. Same here. My dad and I have come down every year towards the end of April the last 28 yrs and we are heading down on Tues. There is a huge cold front blowing through this week, but I took a look at the forecast for next week and if it goes unchanged it will be the same weather pattern they have had the last month or so(minus this week). Like Rps is saying, I wouldnt imagine that anything would change. According to these guys fishing has been off the charts..im thinking that with all the wacky weather this week it may even turn things on more the closer we get to the full moon(if thats even possible). Seems to me that they are hitting everything, everywhere according to all these posts. One person kills the bass on a smoke grub one day, while another kills them on a spook the next, while another kills them on a redfin. I think the next few weeks are only going to get better and while bass may be on the beds, not even 1/4 of the total bass population is(which leaves a lot of fun, active bass to be caught). Other than not throwing a line in the water, I dont see how you can go wrong right now. Im absolutely pumped to get down there and get into them with all of you guys. Good luck on your trip next week, Cheers.
  3. Great report! Thanks! I just hope this major cold front doesnt kill all of the good fishing when I come down there on Tuesday.
  4. Thanks for the help. In all honesty, we fish just about all water except deep. We very rarely go much deeper then 25 ft. Where ever we find the fish is the range we typically like to stay in and I know that this time of the year you find them mainly 15ft deep al the way up to the bank unless a major cold front comes flying thru. Never heard of a redfin, may have to try that one out. I appreciate the help. If your every interested in getting into night fishing let me know. I know of some fairly decent places to try on the rock.
  5. hey all, the old man and i are heading down to tr in a few weeks for our annual spring trip(been going down every year for the last 28 yrs). we are mainly night fishermen and do well every year on the tride and true salt craws. last 4-5 years we have limited our night fishing and focused more on trying to get into the same fish during the day as we do the night. we usually fair pretty decent but i read all these forums religously and i can never remember boating 15-20lbs of bass during the day. any tips? we will be staying at oak hill in little aunts, but we make an attempt to run all over the lake. im also going to be trying a new bait sometime during the trip called a Y-Not by Stanley. picked up a pack or two, seem like they may be a fun bait to try. anyone heard of it or tried it out? looks to be a nice, bulky alternative to gene larews reg/biffle craws. any ideas would be great. seems like the lake has a ton going on from the early spawning, warm temps, lake turn over. last year we were on the lake around 11pm our last sat night there during a thunderstorm(not smart) but but the both of us limited out in an hour and a half with a few 5lb bronze backs and a few 4lb buckets(id say each of us had 20-25 lbs of fish, all released of course:)). never had that many keepers in such a short span, trying to enhance those odds during the day.
  6. Is this moss everywhere in the lake? Heading down to Little Aunts Creek in a few weeks.
  7. Trying catfishing on the bluffs across from point 11. There is a HUGE cedar tree sticking out of the water on one of those bluff points with a small cove to the left of it. The last few years I have been there to try and catch some crappie I would get into some small red ear sunfish a little bit bigger than the size of the palm of your hand. Since no crappie would hit, I would rig up a drop shot rig with a 1/4oz.-1/2oz. swivel weight and a 4/O Gamakatsu hook 18 to 24 inches up the line, catch one of those red ear on a minnow, cut them into a view pieces, throw it on the drop shot rig and toss it out. Good thing about that bait is its a natural bait for them like shad as well as since your hooking them through scale the bait wont come off if you get a cat on. What I normally do is stay tied up to that cedar tree and throw parallel to the bank towards the back part of the cove maybe 25-50 feet from the bank. Reel the line in just enough to where the line is taught to keep the bait off the bottom. The last few times I have done this I have left with Flat Heads anywhere from 2-25lbs. Im sure you can do this on any part of the lake, but that spot seems to do well for me not to mention that its not in the summer, its in the end of April. Hope that helps!
