LONE WOLF all the way the are by for the quitest lightest easiest to pack and setup. If ur talking bout the sit and climb lone wolf very comfortable the hand climber is not quite as comfortable but not bad. I have the hand climb and one of their loc ons with quick sticks i love both of them. Had the loc on for seven years havent had to replace anything on it. They are exspensive but worth every penny!!!!!!!!!!
we sacked the shad up yesterday at twin bridges just up the spring river side but the fishin stunk. We was hoping to tear them up with the neosho gettin a good push on it from all the rain. All we could manage was a few small channels and blus. The boy did catch his first cat all on his own and he was pumped so it was a good trip. I have never done any good with the wind out of the east. Like my grandma used to say wind out of the east fish bite the least wind out of the west fish bite the best.
I was down at the lower wire road acess by the dairy farm the other day. While i was rigging up i got to talking to a guy from the conservation dept. He told me the conservation dept. was working on buying the farm below that access. I think he said it was 300 acres and went all the way down to the next bridge on crane. I sure hope they get it bought. The fishing was good too caught lots of beautiful mclouds on a hopper nothing big though bout 10in was the bigggest.
thanks don i was having trouble finding more detailed info on the 797 and finally figured out how to download the owners manual for the 797 on hummingbirds website. thanks for the info jake
I was wondering if you guys ever used one of these in muddy water in a river? Also wondering if you guys have used 797 or anyone who has i am looking at purchasing one and the 797 fits more in my price range. thanks
I am getting ready to buy a new boat and would like to put a nice fish finder on it. It will be mainly used for catfishing. I dont mind spending money on one and wondering which is the best any suggestions please let me know. Thanks I would like to keep it around a thousand or less and i am looking at the hummingbird 797
I have been to nacogdouches a couple times i lived in atlanta up by texarkana. I really miss the bass fishing down there. I may have a good part of the week off and take you up on a float if you dont mind going with a fly fisherman.
Welcome CDC im here in joplin too. I also lived in east texas for awhile. Were did u live at? I will take you up on a float trip too if you dont mind sometime.
If your lake has shad in them find them and you will find the catfish. From the reports i have heard the catfish are still doing alot of spawning. Its happening really late this year on spring river.
I love it when the get shallow up on those gravel bars you want to talk about some awesome bowfishing. Its not uncommon to get two in one shot when the get stacked up. I knew a guy that would take a piece of rope about a foot long and unravel tie it to a swivel and let it float to the gar they would hit it and get thier teeth wrapped up in it. We have snagged them with a small trebble on bass rods and they are a lot of fun also caught some whit bassin with with jigs.
I usually fish either the middle road access or the lower road access. Yest thereis plenty of jugl like conditions on the creek with plenty of flies hanging from the trees. lol
Sorry bout that you are right. I thought the signs athe public access says flies only but i must be mistaken. I wasnt tryiong to preach to you i was just trying to keep someone for getting a ticket for just being mistaken but obviously iwas the one mistaken. I fish crane quite often i sure hope to run into you sometime.
Wow thats a heck of a day on crane creek. I hope your roostertails only had a single hook on them and im pretty sure those rebel crawdads and rapalas are highle illegal on crane creek. You should probably check the regs before going again, Crane is a flys only area.
Hey Chief u r right their are some big browniesin Spring River. Especially lower spring in ok. Me and a buddy caught five on time with the smallest being two pounds and the biggest being Four. There are a couple of real good creeks that run in down there that some big smalllies like to get in.
Same thing happens at roaring river. I can understand kids doing it that doesnt bother me. Its the adults that arent even fishing just taking a walk that amazes me. Why the would walk 10' behind a guy casting a fly line amazes me. I know i have got wrapped up in fishing and go to backcast and there somebody walking right behind me. I am surprised more of them dont get a hook in them.
What kind of knot are you using whatever kind it is make sure and wet it before you tighten it. The beetle is a dry fly. I use the palsa pinch on indicators. On indicators i use the smallest kind i can that will still float so i carry several different kinds. I usually put it bout 3ft above the fly just depending on how deep the water is i try to get close to the bottom. I always have good luck with bh zebra midge red or black. hope this helps. Go to the top of the hill and visit tims fly shop and talk to him he willl get u catching fish quick. It is nothing to catchin atleast 10 or 15 in a day of fishing thereonce you learn a few techniques just make sure u get a goood dead drift and u will catch alot more fish.
