  1. Good morning. "WHITES AT NIGHT". Sounds like a good movie name I met two gentleman one night at the Blunk Road Boat Ramp on the Upper James River Arm near Taylor Shoals last year and they were catching Very Large WHITES on PURPLE BEETLES. These men also said that they use these Beetles on all the Lakes in the Ozarks. Especially on Stockton when they find SHAD/BAIT FISH on the RADAR. They drop them beetles beneath the SHAD/BAIT FISH and catch nice WHITES and CRAPPIE. But yes, they were doing pretty well at dark. We caught some nice WHITES on the JAMES this past Friday on White Rooster Tails. I took advantage of the .94Cent Sale at BASS PRO last week. Last Summer, close to Orleans Bridge i caught 7 Large Mouths and 9 WHITES with the White Rooster Tails on the Little Sac. While the Bass were chasing SHAD on top of the water, I Boated all fish in 15 MIN. Sounds Crazy. My son was a sleep in the bottom of the boat. I did not have time to put the fish in the Basket. They all landed on him. I was trying to wake him up. By the time he got up and tied on a rooster tail, the action stopped. I hope the LITTLE SAC WARMS UP SOON TOO.
  2. Here is a link to The MDC website that might help anyone. www.mosportsmen.com/fishing/paddle.htm
  3. Nice jog gentleman. I was going to be right in the mix of all of it today. Unfortunately, someone brought a VIRUS to work Last week. Several of us our out sick today. I had today as a Vacation-Day and could not even hit the water. Guaranteed I will be out this weekend. Good luck and be safe everyone.
  4. I have been wondering lately. Last year my Step-Dad and Fishing Partner met two gentlemen one night leaving the James with some pretty big sows. They showed me the purple beetles. We still caught several dinks and larger males on white maribous, but big sows on white rooster tails. I cant wait to try the purple beetles and swimming minnows this year. Thanks again to all of you. Charles
  5. Thanks Bill. Now that Deer season is over, its time to work the ol rods. Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Years. Yea, I wish I could have fished the fall for the Whites. //// Do you know where I can get the little plastic beetles for beetle spins in purple by the 1000's? You can PM me if you want.
  6. Maybe the weather will keep warming and turn the WHITE BASS on.
  7. Anyone know if the WHITE BASS have been biting? I know the old run is getting close. Just curious if anyone has been catching any in the lake and where? Greatly appreciated.
  8. Thanks Marty, My rig and lines and baits and trailer and etc etc etc are always ready and willing. See ya'll soon Charles
  9. STRIPERS WILL EAT AS MANY RAINBOWS AS POSSIBLE.....Lake Lanier in North Georgia used to be a great RAINBOW Fishing lake. When STRIPERS were introduced to the Lake, the STRIPERS ATE all the Rainbows for breakfast, lunch and dinner and SNACKS. Now there are STRIPERS CAUGHT IN THE 50 - 60lb range all the time. If you want BIG STRIPERs. Feed them Rainbows. I am going deer hunting.
  10. My 15hp does 100mph when it lightnings. I have ran up and down the lake on some occasions just to get away from a storm that was moving over. My Aluminum Boat would definitely be considered an attractant. Stay safe out there and thanks for the report.
  11. Thanks, I needed that. I did not go to Bagnell this past weekend. Went to stockton, ran jugs and trotlines. Not much luck there. Caught 3 channels bout 2lbs each and a water moccason. I saw one jug heading up the rock bank on land. Sped my boat over there to see what kind of fish had legs now Got there and it was a 3 1/2 foot Water Moccason. He had that 5"Bluegill's head in his mouth. I got the jug and the blue gill back. Did not harm the snake but it was fun to video it. If any of you are running anykind of lines.....be careful, could be a big snake on that hook.

    Crickets

    Where is that at?
  13. I hope they are generating this weekend too. I was thinking about the same thing this weekend. My fishing partner caught 120 cats 4th of july weekend when it was nice and cool. The largest was a 22lb blue. I am calling the toll free number to check on the generation. I just called that number 866-494-1993. That did me know good. No report. Makes me wonder if they will release. I live in Springfield, so it is a long drive for me to go if they are not generating.
  14. Gallagher, We usually put our canoes in at Delaware town and float down to Shelvin Rock. When the water level is down it looks like that. However, there are lots of nice fish through out the float. Charles
  15. Sorry to hear about your accident. I am sure it was worth it.
  16. Just got back from Louisiana fishing. Lots of Largemouths. Want see smallmouths down there. Thats a nice fish and nice conservation. By the look at all the threads on the forum, looks like everyone caught nice fish this weekend. Cant beat that for a fourth of July weekend.
  17. Jesse. Just got back from Louisiana. Caught 12 Large mouths Saturday morning. All fish were between 3 and 6lbs. It was awesome. My fishing partner went to Bagnell Dam this weekend. They caught over 100 catfish on cut shad. They caught their huge shad, filleted the meat out, kept on ice but not where the meat could get wet and cut up the fillets into chunks. 1 ONCE WEIGHT on the bottom and the bait was on hooks above the weight, ran up to the dam and drifted back......."Fish On". He caught a 22 lb cat this morning. Hope that helps. Good luck.
  18. My brother n law and I fished on the james last saturday. We fished every sqaure inch of the river on a 5 mile trip. We put in at 5:30am and got out at 3:30pm. 5 MILE STRECTH. You couldnt possibly make it in 5 days fishing that much. Just to give ya an idea. Now if ya did it for charity....i bet there would be lots of spectators camped out along the river to feed ya. That way you did not have to catch your food...you could paddle..and paddle and paddle. Maybe people would DONATE give an amount PER MILE. Your idea could turn into something even bigger. Oh yeah....buy you one of those "SPOTS" from Bass Pro. Just incase of danger. Keep us posted.
  19. make sure there is no rain in the forcast.
  20. They tasted real good too. Real pretty fish. Even the bluegill we caught were larger than my hands. Got nice filets off them.
  21. Nice catfish.....I ended up on the James river. Caught 9 small mouths less than 15"...4 LM just at 14"......and two 5 lb catfish on live crawfish we caught for fun. Is that a MUD CAT? Looks like it. Nice cat though bigger cat than I have ever caught.
  22. Troy,,,nice job...Someone forgot to put up the "ONLY FISHING BOATS PASS THIS POINT,,SIGN". Nice catch. thanks.
  23. Drove down the James today in Springfield. Water was not muddy. Clarity a little dingy...not much though, I think tomorrow morning is going to be off the hook. Even decided to pass on Stockton till Saturday night through early Sunday morn. Taking my Colorado Brother n law to my honey hole on the James. Hopefully we have big pics to post. Got nice video from the Upper James on Table Rock last weekend. Can you download video to this forum? Good LUck every one and safe fishing this weekend.
  24. A few weeks ago when we were catchin Bluegill on worms around the rock bluffs we caught several 5 lb cats. All Channel Cats.
  25. Techo...dont worry. I still hall in the big ones from my 14' flat bottom with 15hp evinrude. I like my Hummingbird but my instincts pay off better the majority of the time on stockton. Stockton is definately a fish factory.
