Hey denjac, Tell her she can drive the boat for you. Worked for me, my fiance' found me a boat on Craig's list, even wrote the check for it till the following Friday when I got Paid. I'm just glad she loves to fish. My fishing partners are always late to launch. She's not. We headed to Mexico on our honeymoon in October. She's really excited about fishing down there too. Techo, Glad you got your wires fixed. Sure beats electrical tape, tape can get messy after exposed to the heat for too long.

I got a 12guage shotgun you can borrow. Whoops. Or a net.

Your on the right track. My fishing partner has a 18' aluminum wide boat with a 90HP Mercury. Just right for the rivers, we even used it on Table Rock 3 weeks ago for the first time. Just be careful on turns and watch out for canoes. On the lakes we like to ride behind other boats if possible so we dont ride the waves, each time you go over a wave you loose momentum. I have a 14' aluminum with a 15HP outboard, I have used it on the James only when the water was up. The outboards are really not the way to go on the rivers. The JET BOATS CAN go through 3" of water at 40mph. Its awesome.....After a good run you want to tilt your motor and blow out your pump to keep sand from building up. Just make sure no one is behind you in the water when you do this. Thats lots of PSI's, lots of Force......Makes a heck of a Rooster Tail....The 90HP Shoots a rooster tail from one side of the river to the other....can sink another boat in a heartbeat. Check out Sport Boat USA....those guys are some real top knotch guys.

Great evening on the James this evening put in at Delaware Town and in 2 hours caught 18 Bass before I had to get home to eat dinner. 7 LARGE MOUTH from 2-4lbs and 10 Smallies from 1-3lbs and 1 Smallie bout 4 1/2lbs. All caught on White/Chartruse Spinner baits and Watermellon Senkos. My fishing buddy and I fiqured since the rain stopped and the water still look good along with the Barometric Pressure and the clouds we couldn't pass it up. We took his Jet Boat out today. Man that sure beat all the Paddling I did Sunday.

Just got through reading RSBRETHS personal blog. He has some pretty awesome stories on the James. You might want to pick up some Senko's, I thought I was the only one having luck with these. They work year round on the James no matter what time of the year. He rigs them wacky style. I rig the 5" and 6" with a 5.0 hook push the head of the worm up over the eye of the hook and the barb into the body ON 8lb test line with absolutely no weight. Use a spinning reel...I like a 6 to 7 foot rod. Cast at your target, let in sink to the bottom, let it sit on the bottom for at least 10 seconds to 20 seconds if you got the patience....while it rest on the bottom it wiggles. The fish will hit it on the way down or when you lightly jerk it off the bottom. When the fish takes it, you will see your line swim off..SET THE HOOK. My fiance' caught 2 LM Saturday in the 4lb range. Gota love a woman who loves to fish too. Dont have to worry about my other fishing partners showing up late. Any way take a look at RSBRETHS Blog at http://allozarksfishing.blogspot.com/ Anyway, I wish you well, Have a safe float and save us a few. Charles E. Jackson

Went Sunday afternoon and caught 5 LM BASS on Silver and Black Tiny Torpedos...We put in right before River Cut Subdivision and canoed to Delaware Town. The river was pretty trick for the first mile. Had to drag out around some falling trees. What part of the James are you planning on floating? Charles

The One That Got Away With My Rig
Predator1 replied to Predator1's topic in Fellows Lake, Springfield Lake, McDaniels Lake
OH YEAH, That was Fellows Lake.....Haven't been back yet. Been working too much. Did get to fish the James River this past Sunday.....Put before River Cut Subdivision and fished down to Delaware Town. Caught 5 Bass LM's on Silver and Black Tiny Torpedos. Hope you guys stay cool out there. Charles -
Yea, thats right. While I was trolling with my Stepdad this evening, I saw the rod tip on my pole get crazy while I was throwing a crankbait at some schooling bass. Before I could grab the Rod I was trolling with the darn fish jerked it out of the Rod Holder Thats the first time in all the years I've been fishing that that has happened. Well maybe some day someone will find a what was a nice $100.00 rig.....I even tried dragging the bottom with a rattletrap in 12' of water for an hour...to no avail did that work. So what else...I dove in and searched that area for another half an hour..Darn fish must of dragged it out to the middle of the lake. Surprising, I could see pretty good while I was searching the bottom. Didn't see no fish while I was down there either. They probably thought I was the Big One. Oh well.....lesson learned the hard way. Did however talk to some folks who were catching bass in the middle of the lake on white crappie jigs.

I hear ya Wack'em Good and BigRedbirdfan, I'm sure you heard of the old citizens arrest thang, just imagine us writing tickets for the ol Water Patrol guys....I can see it now. I will mount one of those funny blue lights on the front of my boat.....if I see a big cruiser passing by out of control, I'll wave a flag at him...if that dont work, I'll chase him down with my new funny blue light on the bow of my boat and oh yeah use that cool digital video camera during the whole process. Then I'll pull out one of those receipt books ya get at Office Depot, write em citizen ticket...what the heck, go ahead charge him cash on the spot I'll make sure I have my new waterproof pen too. I havent been on the lake since Saturday, but I will be out this Saturday. I'm not scared to say anything to someone who acts like an idiot and pays no attention to his surrounding when you know and they know their in the wrong. What the heck...I thank I might just change my name from Predator1 to Seargant1 Whatcha thank about that

Very nice guys, My Stepdad called me yesterday and said he would not be wading at the dam...from what it looks like, I guess you can definatel take the boat up the river. Whats the name of that public launc down river and can i launch there ok?
-
I had a good day at work. but i would have rather been fishing. Still cant get my boss to understand that
-

Hey Wack'em Good, you were right about the news articles.......you all check this out on the Missouri Water Patrol's website at http://www.mswp.dps.mo.gov/ The home page gives a list of all water accidents this year...too many fatalities.
-
HEY LILLEY, GLAD YOUR ON HERE.....met one of your buddies in Food For Less yesterday....ol MARK sure is pretty cool...makes some nice flies...hope to pick up a few...my stepdad just got in Branson today..last week was his birthday...he's big on Taneycoma.....Mark said he would teach me not to whip my leader off on that fly rod. I think my stepdad was gettn tired of re tieing
-
The trout would definately thin out....I'm serious, there would not be no trout left....Most of the big striper fishers, actually buy rainbow trout at local stores to troll for big stripers. Even though there are alot of trout in Taneycoma, it still makes for good fishing.....Maybe introduce them above the dam...ha.ha. That would be something.
-
Oh yea, a whole chicken works good on big cats in Louisiana, but what ever you do....DO NOT introduce STRIPERS in Taneycoma......Several years ago before I started fishing Lake Lanier in Georgia the Georgia Wildlife and fisheries had a large population of Rainbows in the lake...Once they introduced the Stripers, they ate all the trout...as a result, Lake Lanier is now well known for 35lb and larger stripers. Let's dont even think about STRIPERS in Taneycoma. I dont think the Hatchery could keep up with feeding the Stripers.

Well, the Corp sent me to Jefferson City Water Patrol who sent a message to Captain Gary Haupt for our TBR Area....just waiting on a call from him now. Who knows, maybe money want have to do the talking.......When I live in Marietta, Georgia in the 90's my neighborhood tried to have a redlight installed do to several accidents....the City's reply was not until someone got killed....well, three weeks later a 65 year old lady was struck and killed....A RED LIGHT was up the following week. I dont want to have to wait for something like that to happen.
-
I appreciate all your opinions on this matter.....I am calling the Corp now that I am home from work and have read the replies. Hopefully they will have a good response like us fisherman. I'll be back. Thanks
-
maybe a sign on the pilons would work.
-
How many of you think the Bridges on Table rock should be NO WAKE ZONES......While we were fishing Saturday, some Big Pleasure cruisers past by too close and caused a big enough wake to push us into a Bride Pilon....I think alot more people need to know safety before cranking up that new vessel. Any other opinions. Thanks, Charles E. Jackson

MOON SHINE MOTORS.....HOW BOUT THAT....... Ironic you mentioned this, My fishing pardner and I had a one hour discussion way to the ROCK Saturday morning about ethanol, diesel, and corn oil, price hikes and fuel overall..........Maybe we should take our Great Great Grand Parents secrets on MOON SHINE STILLS....I know most of us know how to make them or have all heard about the old stills in the past......I think we could all agree that we could really make a difference on the ol wallet. We might have to do some conversions to our motors but we could make our on gas. There definately will come a big change soon. I just hope the OIL COMPANIES dont try to take me out if I were to be the one to start it. Someone will. Im aboard. Charles E. Jackson

86 hwy bridge in long creek is exactly where we caught our fish............we tried fishing area 23 first in the fog and caught one smallmouth on a redfin.........proceeded to the bridge to drop shot and released all fish. Hopefully we can get-r-done next time. Thanks to all you fellow fisherman....we learned the drop shot technique from all of you. Hope we can be of assistance to you sometimes too. Good luck everyone. Oh yea, we also had a ticket on our truck at Indian Point Boat Launch.....First time we ever launched at Table Rock and did not see the complimentary box for the 4 dollar launch fee......Worked out good we got the ticket....several other people who had already launched while we were leaving found out from us so they were able to pay before the cruised the lake. I bet they give out alot of tickets every year..Anyway...got our yearly permit now. Charles E. Jackson

WOW, We could not believe it! While we were drop shot fishing in 100' of water at a depth of 25', I caught 2 shorts on night crawler and my pardner caught a 26" Rainbow on a football jig with crawfish trailer. I heard they were in the lake, just never believed in a million years we would have caught one. I must say after only catching 3 bass and 5 bluegill, that was the highlight of the day. Has anyone else caught Rainbows in the Rock before and what is the best way to catch them....besides getting lucky. Charles E. Jackson
