  1. Can you select "stop sonar" and side imaging still ping sonar while low frequency sonar is paused? Lowrance allows this. Not sure about Hummingbird. If it stops the lines, you're getting cross talk with the two transducers. Their signals are overlapping and creating interference. I get little dots on mine. If I turn off sonar, side imaging clears up crystal clear. Also call Hummingbird and talk to them.
  2. Bobcat. Not a bird. It's an alarming sound. First time I heard one, I had no idea what it was. Looked it up on YouTube and found the exact sound. Try that and compare.
  3. The weather lately has been fantastically beautiful. Really makes me want to get out. Maybe this weekend. Work is still slamming me so no afternoon trips for me (yet).
  4. Sounds like a good guide.
  5. http://musclecarcity.net/ Here is the link. Such a cool find while I was there.
  6. You should try Ford'so Garage in Cape Coral!! Really neat place and food is good too. One of my favorite places. The house that we stay at is not far from there in Cape Coral. I think they may have one on Ft Myers? Google it and find it online before you go. Lots of images and Facebook images online. If you're into Muscle Cars, there is an AWESOME collection of Chevrolet muscle cars in Port Charlotte I think? I took my 14yr old son last summer. It was great. Massive collection of old Corvettes, Cameros, etc. Some are priceless. An original 69 Camero SS, original paint, tires, etc with only 13,000 miles (or something like that). Very cool experience. They bought an old Walmart and converted it into a museum. Ah the food selections down there. Grouper. Good stuff. Mangrove or red snapper is good also.
  7. Sounds like a great trip to me. Wish I was down there.
  8. I also heard it was good. You're killing me
  9. Oh and try lunch at the Bubble Room. It's across the street from the little street you drive up to get to the Mucky Duck. We've been going to Captiva for years and drove right by it many times and did not try it until recently. We stopped going to Mucky Duck after that. It's a neat place and the food is good. The deserts............that is enough reason to go there alone!!!
  10. 1) You have no idea how jealous of that sandwhich I am......you suck! LOL! 2) Good luck tomorrow!! 3) I'm very jealous. I would LOVE to be on Captiva right now. (you have no idea........work is killing me slowly) 4) Did I mention I was jealous?? Because I AM! 5) Bring some of that warm salty air back to the Ozarks if you can please.

The spoon probably drifted out of the cone. That's why it disappeared. When it comes back, it may have come back into the cone (due to a fluttering action moving the jig allowing a glide pattern). Thats my guess. I have to have my rod just to the right or left of my trolling motor to read the bait on the graph. Sometimes it disappears and I adjust and it comes back in. Boat movement will ensure this disappearance issue.

No no..... Sonar on back. Side scan (LSS2) transducer on baking also. It's longer than the standard sonar transducer. Both are within 12"of each other so you can overlay structure scan on top of sonar images. Which I don't. No benefit to me. I have a built in transducer on the both trolling motors. I have a Terrova (which I don't like) and a Fortrex (in process of putting back on. I'll probably get universal quick release brackets so I can swap when needed Terrova for live bait fishing, Fortrex from everything else. Now.....spoons. The deeper you are, the easier it is to see the spoon due to a larger cone shape for transducer signals. Remember.....sonar sends signals in the shape of a cone. Deeper you are, the cone diameter increases and shallower you are, the smaller the cone. Same settings (auto) or maximum sensitivity depending on your unit) for spoons. Just run auto settings when possible.

Actually you can. They make one called the alumaducer. I've also been told with a good installation, the thru hull works with standard transducer. I have both of mine on a plastic mounting plate on the transom to allow for adjustments.

It's like asking which is better. Checy, Ford, or Dodge. Opinions will be like a can of worms. I myself prefer Lowrance for 2D sonar, Garmin for side scan and downscan. Since they are not combined, Lowrance seems to have the better option. Garmin has made a a strong presence in recent years. For a 19ft Alumuacraft, any graph would work nice. If you really wanted to kick it up, an Elite 5 or Elite 7 unit from Lowrance would be like Onstar for that boat.
  18. That's about what I was expecting. Thank you!!
  19. Thank you! Slow retrieve or "early summer" retrieve if I may ask without being too specific. I'm just not that good at crankbaits. Even though I own hundreds.
  20. Nice job!! I just can't get into the wart bite. I don't have the patience to work it how you really should. By "off the main lake" are you saying you were on the main lake or inside coves? Just curious.
  21. I heard it was pretty stained and borderline muddy earlier this week due to the rain.
  22. Ah. You lived down there with the rich folk. Drove through there once on our way to Miami for the day.
  23. South West Florida huh? Anywhere near Cape Coral/Ft Myers? We typically go there every summer. Love visiting that area. Snook are a SUPER smart fish and picky on baits. I watched one swim up to my live shrimp on an underwater dock light, look at the wiggling shrimp and think...."Nah". I've caught one on a guide trip. Awesome fish. Tarpon is my thing. They will wear out any man.
  24. Um....yes he will. He will tell you where to ho, what to throw, how to retrieve it, and sell you the bait to do it with. He loves giving out info.
