  1. Glad you weren't hurt or the new boat either.
  2. Nice! I've got a few new tricks to try on something like that. Hope to go after work this week.
  3. I was just surprised to hear you trolling. Reason I asked. :-)
  4. That's a good day I'd say. Tight lining is fun. But sometimes the bite......well you don't feel it. No telling how many I've missed this year. Just now learning to feel more for weight and the right kind of weight as to tell if it's worth setting the hook. With live bait, you set the hook or pop it and you can lose your bait.
  5. I fished Lake D'Arbonne LA today and yesterday. The abuse I put 6lb line to is shamefull. Just SHAMEFULL!! Cypress trees attract fishing line like the mosquitos to fresh meat. And the limbs and spring buds do not let go. I had to cut several small limbs to get my line free. Some hang ups too. Pulled for line to pop but it wouldn't. Tight end drag to max and pull back. Would just pull the boat closer. Had to go in and get the jig. Or it would snag weeds or coontail and not let go. Hold spool, pull back and it would bri g a plant to you. How's that for a plug on line? Love this stuff.
  6. You being funny or serious?
  7. Hey! Thanks for the report. Bass reports are always welcome and encouraged. Not enough of those around anymore. Sounds like a good time to me. Except for lugging the a-rig (chrome Christmas tree with hooks). Got a box full of them. Hate em'. Lol!
  8. It's the Red label line man. I too used it. Now I just use 6-8lb Kline CCX or 10lb CCX. Stuff is wicked strong, lower memory and twists, and very smooth and abrasion resistant. Best part is, $10 a spool. Scott worked me over with it one morning. I switched to his rod and started catching fish. Never again......
  9. I also had weak line experience with Vanish. One spool when it first came out. It was my last. I always use a barrel swivel with a quick snap on one end so I can change out baits.
  10. My gosh those are the biggest hybrids I've ever seen!!!! Table Rock has better hybrids than Beaver for sure!! Lol!!! I Bet the strippers are bigger too. (Sinister Evil laugh with prolonged volume) Nicely done sir. Very nice fish. Darned ole a-rig. Darn stump finders.
  11. Quality of line is paramount I'd say. And the knot is equally important. Any nicks or greys in the line from brush piles or hang ups is a weakness. Re-tie when needed. About all I can offer.
  12. Evidently they can. Must be a "official proceedings" thing. I also asked if they needed any volunteers since I have side scan and I am setup to see all kinds of things underwater. Foundations, trees, etc. I was also told no by the water patrol. I'm glad the group that found her was brought back in. It would haunt me to know my relative was simply out there somewhere and lost.
  13. Sure would be hard for those fish growing up. You know how clickish kids can be in schools. "I'm not hanging out with you. Stock pond bread! Eewww!"
  14. Good news for the family. They found her body late this evening. A sonar image turned up something worth investigating and the dive team was called in. Just got the update feed and she was recovered. The family brought in a specialist from up north and the sonar picked up something. Very glad they have found her so the family can mourn properly and hold funeral proceedings.
  15. Thanks Lance. Glad I'm not the only one barely feeling bites. Could be my rods are not as sensitive as I am thinking. I've got a St Croix spinning rod that can feel a mosquito fart. But it's way too much for crappie. Too much backbone. I'm thinking 6lb braid might do me right. I'll give that a try if I can find some.
  16. ^^^ This.... Man that's free information you cannot be without! Thanks Bill! Awesome tip! I remember reading/hearing that is how Tommy Biffle and Mark Davis fished it. I simply forgot. What you just described above sounds awesome. I've got a few baits that will fit this rig perfectly.
  17. Man that's a fine report. Is there a special tactic on the wobble head? If I may ask? I tried one Saturday and didn't have much luck. Just working it like any other plastic rig right? Or swimming it? Heck of a few days you and your clients have had. Nicely done.
  18. I always get them mixed up. You're probably right.
  19. That black crappie is a beauty! I like the black ones. They are just a neat looking fish. I've heard of crappie lifting the bobber. Man you've really got to be concentrating to see that and have calm water. I was using a tight-lined crappie minnow on 6lb line with a B&M Sam's Super Sensitive jig pole and I had to REALLY focus to feel the bite in just 8-10ft of water directly below the boat. Crappie have the ability to suck in a bait so gently, you struggle to feel the bite sometimes. It's not even a bite. It just feels "different". Nice job on the fish. I've got a few of those Arkie jigs myself and they are not working for me "yet". But I'm not giving up on them.
  20. Dave's jigheads are great. I thought the Ned would be a great kids bait.
  21. You are correct. Wow I needed to clean house!
  22. I'll take fried white bass over catfish anyday. For that matter I can't eat catfish anymore. It tastes nasty to me. Some may think I'm crazy but catfish to me has a dirtier flavor than natural white flaky meat from crappie or bluegill. And bluegill is much harder to beat. No fishy taste. Just good natural seafood flavor. Fresh water seafood that is. :-)
  23. Oh no. No offense taken. I meant the Ned has bitten me. I'm hooked. Lol!! Share away sir. Your opinions are valid and welcome. Sorry you misunderstood me. :-)
  24. Well that's interesting. Thanks for the report back!
  25. Well it was my fault I guess. I remember some controversy over the Nano line and while I had a free spool to try, I liked it at first. Saturday I was using a standard Palomar knot and I was breaking off jig heads way too easily. The point of the thread was the little do nothing rig has now bitten me. And that I wanted to thank Dave for his sample pack and that......I need more. A lot more. :-) I will be fishing this little rig this summer and hope to get my kids on it and any of my relatives that want to go fishing. It's a numbers bait and I like numbers. :-) So thanks again to Dave for a great product and for all his help and knowledge he has shared here on this forum. While I fished at my home lake (Beaver), this was more about the Table Rock members who so frequently fish and report on the Ned than any other forum here. So I posted this here rather than the General Discussion forum. There are some great members here on the TR forum. So thanks to all of you for your information and willingness to help and discuss. :-)
