  1. Glenn......I just gotta share this with others here. If anyone is looking for a TOP NOTCH mechanic who will not only fix your outboard but could potentially soil you for life and do the following: - Send updates and photos of the progress as well as the problem (keeps you informed instead of calling you to say....."I need more money") - Has the best cost/rates I've seen from many quotes and asking around - Sends you a video of your outboard motor to let you know it's "all good" and read for you to come get it I have had a REALLY rough week this week (stressfull days at work) and today, I got the video below. It was a shot of gas in my tank that I needed to get me through the day. I could go on and on about how great Glenn has been to work with and how good of a guy he is. He has tolerated my constant texting over the last few months, I feel he gave me one heck of a deal on my rebuild, he's given lots of good motor advice when asked, and overall......surpassed my expectations and my expecations were already pretty darn high. SO......if you need some motor work and you know it's not an easy fix, take the 4hr drive to Lake of the Ozarks and see Glenn........he'll treat you like family and give you a family rate. :-) (sorry Glenn....you might not have wanted me to say that) :-) Here's the quick video. Does the motor look great! Repainted and all cleaned up! 1979 Evinrude............gotta love em'!! http://youtu.be/8-CxZfCH22M From the bottom of my heart Glenn...........I'll never forget what a great job you've done.
  2. Thats good news. I like that little ramp. It's a nice short cut over to the Cliffty area for me. I can't run from P. Creek to Cliffty like all of you other big boaters. :-)
  3. I second that. Good idea F&F. I doubt the AGFC would be willing to invest into it though. So with that said, what WOULD happen to the lake? A private buyer? Surely the city of Gentry would look into buying the property and making it "Lake Gentry" or something. This is sad. I really like that lake. It's the only power plant lake around and it's a great little fishery.
  4. Several over 8lbs?? Awesome!! SO ready to get my boat back and head over there! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  5. - Nope........but I get a LOT more bites on 6 lb Fluoro on spinning gear on the finesse stuff:-).........just loosen that drag and tire them out. Sure you may lose a few going that light, but I feel like I make up for a lost fish with more bites. I've heard the same thing. Seen where 6lb vs 8lb on Beaver Lake for drop shot. The 6lb out performed the 8lb by 5 to 1. Same bait. Same spot, same presentation. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  6. Heck if I know! Lol!! Just what I've heard. I have chunked it many times with no success. Only caught one fish on it so far but I have not fished it very much. I think I was told water temp needed to be around 50-55. Anything colder or warmer and its not as successful or so I was told. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  7. Why does Beaver seem to produce better bags of bass in the winter time vs warmer months? My theory is the bigger fish follow stripers. Not up shallow and in open water.....roaming. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  8. I like Suffix. I've had many hangups an d snags that I would have bet money I needed a retie due to rough abrasions. I was wrong. Its small dia. line but tough! Little line memory and come out when it does occur when drug behind boat. Recently I've been trying Segaur Red Label flouro. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  9. They say conditions have to be right. Then........it stands out as "the tool". Like F&F said.....its a tool. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  10. No surprise here...... Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  11. My bearings make a noise when you rotate the wheel freely if its jacked up. I noticed this when I replaced the tires before bringing it to you. I read online that's a sign the bearing has rust or some damage. If they need replacing, you can bet they will be yanked. :-) Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  12. Yeah, I kinda figured that out. I was mainly worried about getting the right parts. Now that I know there are part numbers on just about everything, that helps. The removal and repacking sounds like a cake-walk. I have a 4hr drive back from fishinwrench's place when I go pick up my boat so I'm definately going to get the bearings replaced before heading back. I think it's been needed to be replaced since 2009 sadly. The boat has sat up for about 2ys though so it got heavy use during 2009-2010. I know what to look for now so it will be watched closely.
  13. Stump....You're right. He's on here but just not enough (jolicious). I had to text him the other day to let him know a member had sent him a PM! LOL! Joe fishes a lot of tournaments on Beaver and he's never short of a partner. I would have fished with him this round but I didn't have the funds to play with. That, and I typically throw money into someone elses pocket in a tournament anyway. :-) Once I get my boat back, I'm going to fish some for the fun of it and for the experience. Mainly for the fun of it.
  14. My bud caught about 10.5lbs by himself. His partner backed out on him (wasn't I) and he could have easily been in the money with another 3lbs. If he had a partner that could have pulled his weight, he could have potentially been in the top 6.
  15. Bearing packer tool = tits on a boar hog. Got it. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  16. Waiting on fishinwrench to finish rebuilding the ole' Evinrude

  17. You must mean my fingers because I don't have one of those fancy packing tools. Found one at O'Reilys online for $25. I'll probably invest into one of those one day
  18. I don't have a packer so if you're willing to loan.....for the price of a great bowl of chilli then we have a deal. :-) I bet its a standard size. Just nervous about taking it apart and running the risk of someone not having parts. I bet it will be fine. Like you said....lots of trailers out that way. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  19. Do you have a race setting tool and a bearing packer? Forgot to ask. I found a race setting tool at Harbor Freight for about $25
  20. FOC......you're appealing to my wallet....and my WIFE! I admit, I would LOVE to get them changed out before driving the boat back on a 4hr drive when I come to pick it up. I'd hate to get the bearings out and then your local O'Rielly's didn't have them in stock. The closest place after that is probably Sringfield right? You do kinda live out in the sticks. HeHe! If I can leave early (depending on when I come to get the boat), I hope to get there around 10AM this trip and then I can get the bearings out and replaced. Work has me busy and traveling again so it may be another 1-day trip for me again. I will bring us some of my home-made chilli though. Its just as good re-heated as it is fresh from the crockpot. Southwestern blackbean chili! Crap.......now I need to make some. All of this cold weather makes me want a batch of it!

  22. Probably not the correct forum for this but I trust the "locals" here on this forum for great information. :-) I have a 2-wheel boat trailer (1979) with the original axle and the seals on the hubs need to be replaced. The wheels are also making a rubbing noise that is comone with rusty bearings. I want to fully replace the bearings and wheel races but I do not know how to determine what size I have. I do not have brakes on the trailer, just a simple axle setup. I do know the wheel hubs are a 5-lug. A) How do I acurately determine the size of my spindle? Tape measure or micrometer? How do I acurately deterime what size bearings I need? Is 3/4" the thickness? C) How do I determine the size of the races? D) How do I determine the size of the seal? E) Just how much grease are you supposed to pack/use with a bearing buddy? I've seen many threads where people use too much, how much it supposed to be? F) Anyone know where I can buy a race tool as well? I'm mechanically sound enough to repalce my bearings and races. I watched a few videos on Youtube and read some instructions on this and it looks really simple. I just need the correct parts for the job and a race tool as well as a bearing packer. If anyone can give me some detailed instructions on how to determine what I have, I'm glad to get my hands "really greasy" and do this myself and save some serious cash vs. paying someone to do an easy job. All I need to know is what to order online.
