  1. I question 54lbs. Looks like 35-40lbs. Then again, pics don't always capture the essence of things like real life does.
  2. Yep. Par for the course and that area. Good for you. Is foshing a new thing? ;-p
  3. There went that inventory....
  4. One man's minnow is another man's shad. .Sorry. Minnows.
  5. I got the new rig in the water about 6:30. Headed out to a spot around the islands and snagged a walleye. Only 16" so he went back. Then snagged a white on a spoon. Jogged f he spoon and even a Bobby Garland little summer for whites and only mustered one fish. I know they were whites. I could see them on my graph. I'd get right over them, drop down, nothing. Odd situation. The poor taste in music from neighboring wake-craft annoyed me and drowned out my Jimmy Buffett music from my phone so I "ventured to Ventris" to test new prop and escape some wake boats. Checked a secondary point and as soon as I'm off plane and on the deck, whites start randomly surfacing. I cast directly at a topwater feed with spoon and no bites. Odd situation. They just lock in on a certain bait. After a phone call from F&F, I headed back to the marina to load the boat. Trolled in to the ramp and didn't get bites there either. Fish are all over the graph. If you want to find fish, just turn on a graph at Prairie Creek area. Better have some live shad from Hook Line & Sinker too or you could have a long day. I recommend drifting with live minnows down to 23-26ft. Some fish are in open water too. Stay off the bank. Wasting your time. :-)
  6. Folks...............give him a spoon and watch. I've seen it. And he loved keeping count and rubbing it in my face as he kept swinging them in the boat. I'm not the only one to witness this "freak of nature" phenomena either.
  7. Do I get a friends and family discount? LOL
  8. Nice. Guess it's next on my list of things to do.
  9. His bait making skills surpass the big companies. I have a special Danger Close box just for his baits. :-)
  10. Fascinating stuff and awesome! Kudos for all the hard work!
  11. You sir must have never fished Beaver Lake before. I can find massive fish schools and not get a bite. For that matter, it happened twice just Monday. Electronics helps you locate fish. Artificial baits help you catch fish. Graphite rods help you feel the bite easier. There is no "easy" way of catching fish unless you use dynamite or shock treatment. :-) I hear what you're saying but at the end of the day, they are just sharper knives in the drawer. Not a full-proof method for catching fish.
  12. Thanks for sharing! Very valuable information!
  13. That's good and you're right. Mine looked really good by the time she was sold. Hard to tell it was 35yrs old other than style and it being a tri-hull. She was a pampered gal.
  14. Please don't say it was brown with a copper colored top.....and named Cane Cutter
  15. Pontoon boat right?

That's because those are farmbraised and fed controlled foods like dog food and fish pellets where a lake cat is a bottom feeder and cleans the lake of waste. That and once you've had walleye or crappie.....well thereis no comparison.

So jealous. Wish I could have gotten out today with son crawler harnesses. Tasty treats!!
  18. This one was a low budget hooker. Lol!
  19. I cannot imagine why these would not be deadly on Beaver Lake walleye. We shall see soon. You bring your bag of tricks and I'll supply the means. :-)
  20. I agree but since offender did not leave a name or phone number, I couldn't exactly call them. I started to let the fish go but I knew someone that would have very much appreciated the large fillets. And I owed them son fish for helping me out with something. So....the fish went home. I don't normally do the "finders keepers" thing because its just not right. In this case, there was no one within miles. I even found a boat hanging lines and flagged them down on plane to see if it was there jug. It was not and they saw it and left it alone. Since it was in the main channel bobbing around, I removed it for safety concerns. In the dark, someone would run over it for sure. Hard enough go see in daylight with a good chop on water.
  21. I will just start collecting them and leaving them at the Park Attendant's building and asking that the Ranger get them and contact the offender. Maybe it will cut down the offenders from the ones that follow the rules. Hate to be that guy but.....we all need to police ourselves like stated above. The risk of injury or damage isn't worth it.
  22. True F&F and that was what I was insenuating by mention of exposed hooks. Yes, the break in period is complete. 12.5hrs per the laptop diagnostic. Now it's time to stop joy riding listening to Jimmy Buffett songs and get back to fishing.
  23. I spent several hours on the water yesterday and I covered a lot of miles on the lake from Cliffty to Blue Springs. I normally don’t make it a habit to stop and check a jug/noodle randomly floating down the lake but when it’s in the main channel, I have noticed a series of offenders lately in the last week. I would not call a total of (4) a problem but as a reminder, if you jug/noodle fish, you are required to provide proper identification and you are required to attend or monitor your lines during daylight hours. Below are the regulations from AGFC. I found 2 rigs yesterday floating in the main channel with exposed hooks and line. If someone is not watching (and we all know it seems the wake/jet-ski crowd is visually impaired), someone could wrap the line around a prop causing serious damage to someone’s prop & prop seal. While getting drunk wake boat off the lake appeals to me……it’s still not fair and gives us anglers a bad rap that we do not need. So…………if you jug or noodle fish, do it right. Do it legally. Be responsible. Monitor your rigs. Pick them up when done. Otherwise, people like me are going to start collecting them and I’ll gladly take home your catch if you’re not properly identified on your jug/noodle. I’m half tempted to report the two I found yesterday to AGFC (doubt they would do anything). Someone just needs to tell these guys to do it the right way before something bad happens. Oh………..and the 25.5” channel cat that was hooked in the eye did not appreciate floating around on that noodle for several days either. Since his eye was shot, I took him home to give the fillets to a friend. If you don’t want to lose your rig and your catch, better keep them out of my way. I don’t want to repair anything on a brand new boat because you didn’t bother Googling the law & requirements on how to jug/noodle in Arkansas. Rant switch off…. Jug and Noodle Fishing Up to 20 free-floating fishing devices (jugs or noodles) not attached to a stationary object or boat may be used per person. All free-floating fishing devices must be clearly marked with the user's name and address, driver's license number or current vehicle tag number. Free-floating fishing devices may be unattended only from sunset to sunrise. http://www.agfc.com/fishing/pages/fishingregulationsbytechnique.aspx#jugfishing Yes, that's a spotted bass. There are way too many of the little ones. Someone has to eat and these little suckers are eating all the forage.
  24. Big ole hats off and round of applause to you for getting out in a 12ft Jon at that location and on top of that, you had a terrific haul. And in this heat!!!! Kudos and much respect sir. .. .very well done. Wish there were more posts like this one. And I don't think I could have had that luck in a small boat. I've fished from a 12ft Jon before.
