Cool report!! Figured the clouds would help the bite a bit. The boat traffic from this weekend has beat the fish down to deeper waters. Glad you found the active fish. .
  2. Cool mods. Fiberglass? I bet I know a few things about that motor. And if you need an Evinrude expert, call fishinwrench. Affordable and you won't find a higher qualified outboard tech that knows those motors better than Glen and he's affordable and will make sure you're fixed up. Worth the drive and he'll take you fishing too. :-)
  3. I've seen it in the dark. Fog....dark.....no different.
  4. Good point. Seriously though....is that considered terroristic threatening or assault??
  5. I'm simply at a loss for words on how stupid some people are. The bass boat should know better. And the wake boats ....well.....I'm not that surprised. Something about a wake boat just requires you to leave your brain at the dock.
  6. He already does. I'm not kidding either. Its what you get for being willing to share information and then opening your big mouth when you find a ton of fish. Lol!!! I've been telling him to keep quiet on some things and still find ways to teach and share. But shirt off your back and keys to your boat is going a bit far. Lol!!
  7. " Only I and the Joint Chief of Staff know the location of the "lock box". - Al Gore I know this location too and i would abuse it well if my boat was in and ready. Two more weeks. Then I'm back in action. And no longer at the mercy of F&Fs scraps he decides to let me catch. :-) He has total control of which fish will bite in his boat. I swear he has a deal worked out with them.
  8. I got smart and bought a Chefs Choice knife sharpener. Makes quick work out of sharpening any knife and even a cheap Eagle Claw can fillet with the best of them. Seemed to be the smart decision for me as I would need a sharpener even with a nicer quality knife. My Rapala does really well now. And I can sharpen pocket knives faster too.
  9. Harsh portrayals??? A little treasing is okay amount friends. :-). If you think I tease him.......geez you should see him tease me when we are fishing. I have definately learned a lot from him in the past year. He knows I appreciate it too. I'm leaving the fish counting clicker at home from now on. :-p
  10. This may help. I'm a visual person so pictures show me better than words. http://doctorsonar.com/blogs/educational-articles/12358289-how-to-determine-targets
  11. Yep. I was catching fish in good numbers till one day I get smart and bring an ice chest to take fish home in after a trip. That day, I caught very little. Next trip, same thing and the only commonality is......the ice chest. So, no more ice chest. I live but 10mins from his house so I'll just keep borrow a trash bag from now on. Test my theory on the being prepared and confident of using an ice chest. And the clicker...... He likes to taunt me and hold it to his ear and say "click' as he pushes the button. Then laugh profusely. I'd do the same to him if it were the opposite so I can't be mad. It's all fun and games. Makes fishing fun and entertaining. That and listening to scenes from "Blazing Saddles" on YouTube while drifting around sure makes a lot of laughs too. Man the internet is a good thing to have on the water when fishing is tough/slow. And as for yesterday, i was dead tired and truth be told, I would shut my eyes some instead of watching the rod tip. I had about 3hrs sleep the night before so I was not my usual self. And I didn't thread the worm right so there is that. I had a lot of short strikers take my worm but not the hook. When trolling, I caught one by accident and we found a location. Then I noticed he kept his line on the target linea bit more than mine. (Haha). I am noticing some subtle tricks now and learning how he catches more. I still blame that darn ice chest though. It's got a curse.
  12. Oh I got it. I already understand how sonar works. After reading all of it, it was just a lot to take in. :-). Haha
  13. ^^ My head just popped.....
  14. Yes and he tortured me with it all day. I got it for those days where we were catching 50-60 fish. Kinda need one on days like that. I didn't need one today. I had one hand with five fingers and that was surplus.

  16. That one walleye on the bottom is creepy. He keeps giving men the "eye". Lol
  17. I agree. This was a good image. Learn sonar basics and general understanding of what sonar is and how it works on a boat and you will clearly see what your graph is telling you. YouTube search basics of sonar or fish finders. Also see the sticky in the General Discussion forum here at OAF .
  18. x2.... I will add that the mushroom style anchor does not hold well in 20+mph winds and if it does, it's snagged on a big rock. You can get an aluminum fluke anchor with chain that tends to grab the soft silt bottom better if you're in open water and not near anything to tie too. As for rope, just buy a cotton anchor line from Cabelas or Bass Pro. I believe I used 3/8" rope and about 100ft and I had way more than enough. I could anchor in 50-60ft of water if I wanted too. I also used an anchor mate which was nice if you use one often. Fluke Anchor - lightweight but affective if you get a big enough anchor for your application http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Fluke-Anchors/product/45258/
  19. Darn. Now I need another box full of baits. Do you work on commission from the "baitmonkey"? You know the guy. Sits on your back inside the bait/tackle section and spots all the cool baits. Little bugger..... Guess I'll have to try a few. You're not the only one to say these things about them. There is another company (name elludes me) that the northern walleye guys just swear by.
  20. My recent fishing guide used one. He said it is all you need. And he cleans fish 7 days a week.
  21. Funny I did the same thing andnfeelbthe same way. I've learned so much more about bass fishing by not bass fishing for a year. I know now that whenbi do go bass fishing, I'll have much better luck just because I learned about the other fish in the lake. It opened my eyes widely. And if I don't catch any bass, I know I can catch dinner. :-). No more skunk days for me.
  22. Oh and walleye are not the biggest competitor of forage with bass. It's spotted bass. There is easy more spotted bass than walleye in both Table Rock and Beaver.
  23. I used to be the same way. Once you've had it cooked correctly, it's better than corn fed I promise. Keep an open mind. Its opened my mind to an entire new world and I'm better off because of it. I promise you would like it if it's cooked correctly.
  24. This is nice to hear. Glad to help those who are willing to learn and share the info and passing it on to others. My son is named Jacob also,. Glad he was able to catch his first fish!!! Congrats!!
  25. You guys don't know what your missing. I just came back from Florida and I ate some of the freshest seafood around. I still prefer walleye or crappie for blackened fish, fried fish, gumbo, etc. I used to get mad catching walleye when bass fishing. Then I tasted one. Now I target them. Leave them for me and I'll clean em out for ya. :-)
