  1. WOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!! Glad to see this.
  2. Adjustable. Didn't know there was a non-adjustable. Typically you keep the rod level with the water but sometimes I aim the rod tips upward a little bit just so I can see the rod tips easier.
  3. Plastic. They are very durable. Spider rigs use wire holders typically. There is a plastic one that uses an Attwood base. Academy sells them online. Mr Crappie makes it.
  4. Good report. :-)
  5. No, Bass Pro are not okay. Bad ratings. I do have the Cabelas brand and they are as nice if not nicer than the Attwoods. I like them. They have worked well for me for over a year now.
  6. I believe there is a sticky at the top of the forum. Ole F&F is a winded individual but if you're like me, you can speed read through it and then go back and read detail where needed. :-) Trolling is a broad topic. Best results have been Flicker shades on 10lb Fluorocarbon about 140-150fr behind the boat using something like Attwod rod holder's. Key thingis finding fish first. Trolling is like fishing a crankbait. Your boat becaomes your hand and reel. You present a bait when cranking a crankbait for bass right? Same with trolling. Precision casting and precision trolling. Same thing. Different technique.
  7. As always, top report.
  8. They do. I haven't caught one but I've seen one caught and yes, they are a real fight.
  9. I have nothing but wanted to say....please ...catch them all. :-)

Not a problem. Glad those downriggers are serving you well. There was just no way to mount them on my new boat.

For the record, I saw TONS of whites but not the kind of whites with gills. More like the cellulite kind. And I'm not even there right now (Florida beaches). Yuck!!

Jordan working and can't join in the fun huh. That stinks. He would have liked that.
  13. I'll say this, I can sharpen a knife. I find that I do it often and about every time I use them. I use 2-3 knives for cleaning fish and they still don't cut bones like a red hot knife thru butter. I want something that I can use as a single knife for a few cleanings without having to waste time resharpening. If that exists. Feathers seems to have the solution. His knives are made with 440 stainless and has more thickness to it which makes bone cutting easy. And they hold and edge well too.
  14. Lol!!!! Nice! :-)
  15. I have 4 of those now. Thus the upgrade.
  16. Feathers&Fins displayed what his Knives of Alaska brand fillet knives can do and I'm impressed. I am looking at buying a quality fillet knife that keeps an edge and makes quick work of fillets. I figure this audience is as good as it can get (respect!!!) :-) So, what do you like? Around $100 or under is what I'm willing to spend. Unless someone knows of a mini light saber and then the price limit goes away!! Lol

    What Is This?

    Never seen that before
  18. Dam end is very clear and there is an algae bloom starting on the lake. Not sonar overlap IMO. I'be had that before and it looks like a series of repeating lines. Same interval and spacing. This appears to be plankton/algae in my opinion. Too deep for bait. Well.....probably too deep even on the dam end of the lake with really clear water.
  19. I still hold my title of smallest fish on a spoon thank you! :-)
  20. Could be an algae bloom
  21. Well I thought I was working it as hard. It is an old school trick to lock in landmarks on a spot vs. GPS. I prefer marker buoys myself. (hehe)
  22. You must have been out of the wind to catch them using a 16oz jig head. Those things take a while to get down and with any wind, it's that much tougher to place it exactly where you want it. I used to try and use 1/16oz or smaller and once I went to 1/8oz, they seem to work better in calm or windy conditions. Better range for a cast and just gets the bait down to the depth you want faster.
  23. Well a few trips ago, you were beating me like a pimp on a ........well. :-) After we determined that fishing line must have been the reason you were beating me because I was using the same baits you were and you were still pounding them, I decided to see if the line color was having any affect this time as well. We were again both using the same baits in the same presentations but your line was clear, my line was green. I didn't really think it would have any affect but every experiment needs to be thoroughly tested. :-) I watched how you were working your bait and would mimic just to make sure that I was matching the presentation. I also fished from the front using the graph. The wind was strong and the boat would drift faster than I could get the bait down to the fish. Make it much harder to work a jig properly when your line has an arch or a 30-degree drift angle. No, line color did not have as much of an affect as provide in (1) single fish BUT.................... Things that should be noted for clarity for a true apples to apples comparison: What F&F used: - He had 3-4 spider rigged crappie jigs with 2-jigs per rod (he doubled up some baby stripers once on a spider rod) - So his baits were on or near the bottom the whole time - He was catching most fish on the jigging spoon - Crappie jigs only produced a few fish - Even wihen trolling, his rod would load up with fish, mine would not What I used: - I'm fishing from the back of the boat with 1 rod using the same jigging spoon with same presentation - I had (2) rods with 1/8oz crappie jigs that were drifting way too high behind the boat (guessing 6-12ft off the bottom depending on drift) and fish were directly on the bottom) I obviously can feel a very subtle bite by the size of the proof shown above. Another factor is that he turned off the rear graph and used the front graph only. I never knew if we were over fish directly or not. Just assumed we were. When drifting and having a jigging spoon 10-15ft behind the boat, it pays to know when to reel in, and drop again when you're all of the sudden directly over fish. YOu have to have the bait in their face to get a bite when they are lock-jawed. So advantage goes to F&F for using the front graph. The other factor is that he IS a freakin' human sane net. I am obviously not.
  24. Much respect sir. As always, a good report. We tried the bridge area this morning and it was tough. Wind and that night bite from last night made for some finicky fish. We.....well mostly Feathers&Fins had 27 total with crappie, baby stripers, a hybrid, a cat, and lots of 10" crappie. We only kept 12-14" and kept 10. Grilled with some of F&F's blend of seasonings is the way to go. Glad you got into them. You're a brave soul using a YAK in Rocky B this time of year. The wake boats and general traffic is crazy.
  25. We couldn't get them to bite the Bobby Gs that much today. F&F......in my Roscoe Coltrain voice..."Hush Cleatus just hush!!"
