  1. And, he's a great guy as well. I've got the "Great Guy" thing down (most of the time) - it's that "I should turn pro because I am a good angler" part that is ever eluding :-)
  2. i believe you wore yours two weeks ago hey now!!!

  4. Anything with citric acid seems to help with bleeding, also (my experience). I had stomach surgery a couple years ago, so I can't have sugar OR carbonation. I no longer have sodas in the boat (used to have ample supplies of Mt. Dew for me as well as any fish that were in need)... But, I've come to find that the Vitamin Water Zero drinks I keep in the boat also help with bleeding. On the rare occasion I have a deep hook situation: 1. Take extra care to pull fish from the water by my hand under the belly (instead of swinging) 2. Hold my breath (I thought I was the only guy who did that?) to steady my hand (as well as help keep in mind that my aquatic friend is holding his breath too) while I turn / remove the hook. 3. Pour some Vitamin Water in his mouth (heck, I pour some on his side if he has any sores). 4. Let him rest in live well (Rejuvenade - if water is over 80°, there will also be some ice packs in there). 5. Check on him in an hour or two (usually he's good to go within an hour); and release. Even if it's a short fish, I'll still put in the live well. I haven't ever been visited by an officer while I was recuperating a fish, but I'd rather explain / show what I'm doing to the officer than just cut a hook and hope for the best.
  5. Grand Lake's Falcon Rod challenge is this weekend - a nice escape - well, they have 500 boats entered also lol!!!
  6. My partner and I will be over in Grand this coming Saturday to fish the Falcon tourney. I have heard that you can pay something like $25 extra dollars and trade the rod they give you for a different model. I was wondering if anyone here had any information around that? Thanks everyone
  7. If anyone wants to get away from the traffic this weekend, a buddy up here in my office mentioned that he has had some luck on Lake Elmdale as of late with top water. He had me paint a new Sammy-type lure for him to try this weekend. Thought I'd mention and alternative to the Beaver Craziness this weekend.
  8. Three in a boat might be too tight for tourney fishing - unless the co-angler spot was vacated - but that might put too much strain on the tour if only pros fished?
  9. I'm not good with posting links, but FLW Wal-Mart doesn't allow umbrella rigs: 12. PERMITTED FISHING METHODS • Fishing is defined as having a lure attached to a line and a rod and reel with the rod in hand. All bass must be caught alive in a conventional sporting manner. All lures must adhere to state regulations. Only artificial lures may be used, with the exception of pork trailers and biodegradable soft baits. Alabama rigs and similar umbrella-type rigs are not permitted. Only ONE fishing rod may be used at a time. Trolling as a method of fishing is strictly prohibited. Trolling is defined as operating the combustion engine to extend a cast or lengthen a retrieve. All bass caught while sight-fishing must be hooked inside the mouth and immediately shown to your co-angler, pro or FLW camera operator for verification. BFL allows a 5 wire / three hook deal: 12. Alabama rigs and similar umbrella-type rigs are limited to a maximum of five wires with a maximum of five spinners, five lures and three hooks (single or treble) unless state regulations are more restrictive, in which case state regulations prevail. If I had to pick one spot from which the winner would emerge, I would pick two LOL!!! 1. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy up War Eagle (the fella with the most scratches on the hull wins) 2. Honey Creek
  10. Bear is closest to the bridge :-) I know this now, and shall never forget!
  11. During our employee tournament every year, the entire town of Bull Shoals opens their hearts and hands (when needed) to all of us. Last year, at 4:30 morning of tourney, I discovered my motor mount was broken. Mr. Steve (Owner Bull Shoals Boat Dock) and his son hurried me into a loaner boat for the first half of the day while they fixed my boat. Then called me back to the shop to finish the day in my boat. The whole town is like that
  12. I remember that! That's the last year we fished my employee tournament (Tyson Foods Bass Association Buddy Tournament) out of the "Hornet" (my old Ranger). I remember my partner and I being thankful that we weren't in a new boat because we probably wouldn't have caught half the fish we did. Several fish came out of spots we found AFTER we had laid down to get under branches / held big branches to the side, etc.
  13. If you can help me find the data, I'll be happy to oblige that request The site I went to only goes back to 2009. 2008 was when we were catching them off of picnic tables and such wasn't it?
  14. I don't know if this will help or not, but the water is higher (consistently) than the last 7 years (same timeframe):
  15. I posted in the Buy-Sell-Trade, and hope I am not imposing by putting in the Beaver Lake forum. The boat is near Hindsville (close to Clifty - North end of Beaver Lake), so I thought maybe one of the family in this forum may be looking for a boat this spring. I'm listing for a family friend, so I don't have any info other than what is listed below. There is a contact number in the picture, if you'd like to make arrangements to see it.
  16. Asking $10,000. I am listing this for a family friend - if interested, please call the number on the attached. Located near Hindsville, AR.
  17. Thank you, brother Scott - AWESOME info as always.
  18. I caught a Crappie once... Hard to duplicate the pattern due to the, uh, lack of stealth in the presentation:
  19. Size 9 converse tennis shoe during polar bear tourney 4 or 5 years ago. (Jigging spoon). Still the only thing I've ever caught on a spoon, come to think of it... 4 rod / reel combos last year during the big blizzard. I had thrown a 1/8oz jig and let it sink to bottom. Pulled up once and thought I'd hooked a monster. But, one of the rods was a nice Falcon, and I caught my best bass on it yesterday
  20. Mr. Dave is also pretty good about helping decide which colors to paint baits (but we'll just keep that between all of us lol!!)
  21. Table Rock
  22. Thank you Mr. Jon. Sure appreciate all y'all do

    Awesome!! Well done, daddy!!
  24. Indian Creek is HOT from 06:00 - 06:12 every day on trolled hot-n-tots!!!!!
  25. Thank you sir, but I was referring to the "Annual Lake Report" (I didn't pose my question well). It's really cool. Shows results from electrostatic fishing, how many bass per hour were studied per area of water; how large the fish were, ages, etc... Really cool stuff. I'll try to add the document, but I suck at this part!! 2014 TABLE ROCK LAKE ANNUAL REPORT.pdf
