  1. The fish were hitting it at various depths. Some would hit it on the initial fall. Others right at the boat. The rest just over the trees. I was slowly rolling it with a 5.2:1 reel, so I would say with the initial 10-count, the grubs primary strike zone was in the 20' range. I would try to avoid coming in contact with the trees, because the snot grass is all over the trees. Yes, there are still plenty of fish very deep. I can see them on the graph suspended in the 35-50' range over 70' of water.
  2. Thanks Champ. Yup, you will no longer need your Army Corps placard at Aunts Creek. The sticker will suffice. I plan to go there more often, too.
  3. I retitled my James River report and included the Dam area report. Changed the dates, too. Next time I will do separate reports.
  4. Went fishing today and the same pattern outlined above is still working. Used it in the dam area with success. Was only out 5 hours and caught 15 fish with three nice Spots. Water Temp: 45-48 Wind: Variable to 5-10 MPH Skies: Clear and Sunny Air Temp: 41-70
  5. Thanks Phil for jumping in. The only thing I would suggest is a 3" sticker vs. 2". Two inches is too small. Put me down for two pair. Joe Thanks Techno
  6. I concur,,,,,,Phil????
  7. Now I remember why we did not get anywhere the last time we discussed this. You guys are soooo funny. We went from ribbons, to stickers, to tape, to decals, to bands, to flags, to a BBQ, to an open house, and to night tournaments. I hope I did not leave anything out.
  8. Phil - I agree with starting out simple and see where it goes. Phil, would you be willing to dispense strips of orange ribbons to members? Bill P. - If you have rolls of orange, would you be willing to donate them and take them to Phil's place? I have the Ozark Anglers magnetic sticker on my truck, but we need something on the water. Some do not use a butt seat, but we all have trolling motors, so I would lean to the trolling motor ribbon. EP - No pink and no apples, please! I really don't care for colored hats. It does attract bugs and I like white to reflect the heat of the summer. Let's see where it goes. If it works and we like it, then we can maybe change to yellow and consider inscriptions. If Phil and Bill P. agree, we can go from there.
  9. I know I brought this up before (at least I think I did), but too lazy to search the threads to see where we left off. But, reading the recent posts, all I read is "I will be in a blue/white Champion"; "Look for a red/white Skeeter"; and "I drive a white/gray Triton." I would recommend that we again discuss a way for us to recognize each other when on the water, at the ramp, gas station, Wal-Mart, etc. When I fished a tournament in Kansas three years ago, we were not allowed to keep fish in a livewell. When you caught a keeper, you had to find another boat in the tourney to witness and sign off on your measured catch. To find another boater in the tourney, every boat was given a fluorescent-colored ribbon to tie to their respective trolling motors. It was easy to identify the other boaters in the tournament. Let's discuss this issue. I think we need this for several reasons: Identify each other and promote Ozark Anglers. It will be easy for us to identify each other when on the water and at the launch ramp. People will come up to you and ask: "What is the ribbon for." You can tell them about our Ozark Anglers' website and forum. We can tell people who visit the Ozark Angler's website and forum: "Look for the yellow fluorescent-colored ribbon tied to a trolling motor and introduce yourself." I would also suggest a yellow flourescent-colored ribbon as tribute to our active duty warriors that keep us safe and free (instead of the yellow ribbon around a tree, ours will be around our trolling motors). Heck, we could also have the Ozark Anglers website address and "Support our Troops" printed on the ribbon. Let the discussion begin.
  10. No, but I did Captain "Grass Carp" Phil. By the way, what bait did you use on them there crappies?
  11. Yea, Techno, it was us. The creek channel runs across the face of that island and I caught three there the day before. Should have only caught one and moved on, because we blanked there yesterday.
  12. Date: 3-19-10 Water Temp: 45-50 Wind: Variable to 5-10 MPH out of the SE Skies: Clear and Sunny Air Temp: 41-65 Took a father (Steve) and son (Scott) from St. Louis out today. We started up the James from Aunts Creek (Point 10) and stopped at every channel swing with trees. We swam a 5" smoke Yamamoto grub and a 5" Chompers Salt and Pepper grub on a 1/4 oz. darter jig head. Keep the boat in 70' of water. Cast to about 10' feet off the bank. Count the bait down with a 10 count. Slowly reel the bait in. I mean slow. Barely turning the handle to keep the bait's tail moving. We had 21 fish with 3 nice keepers that are now lurking under the dock in the picture.
  13. I like and use the BPS Crankin Stick ($69, on sale for $60). It is a combined graphic and fiberglass rod. They have improved the rod this year and made it 20% lighter. I use the 7' MH Fast Tip (CS703MHT) for little crankbaits and the 7'10" MH Extra Fast Tip (CS7103MHT)for deep diving cranks. Been using these rods for 5 years and have not broke one, yet.
  14. Don, As I stated on your Facebook Wall. Congrats and great job. You are the Man! I will be in the James tomorrow, only looking for bass, crappie, and whites.
  15. Topwater: Pop R and Zara Spook Jerkbait: Lucky Craft Pointer, McStick, and Megabass in that order. Jig: Eakins Jigs and Scooter Jig (Accent Lures - only weedless jig I found).
  16. RRV.....great report and congrats on a great day on the water. What size jig head were you using?
  17. I ran Trojan Batteries and got 42 months out of these great batteries. But, they just cost too much. So, I just changed over to Pro-Guides. I hope to get at least 24 months out of these and it would be worth the changeover.
  18. I talked to John Porter yesterday and he informed my that he has received no telephone calls from any Ozark Anglers. We sure could use your help. Please call John if you can attend and help out. John's number is in my original post. Thanks in advance for your help.

  22. I agree.....he is taller than the trees.
  23. Thanks motoman....appreciate your comments. We have a few other companies stepping up as well. I just can't post them yet since we are still finalizing everything. We may have a local eating establishment catering the lunch. And, one of our Branson Bass Club members will be making certificates for all of the Tantone employees that participate in the event.
  24. Yes, the two transducers are set at the same level, but according to the installation manual, it says that they just have to be within 12" of each other, not at the same level. No, you will not need to trim up the motor, the transducers work fine. My jack plate is 5.6". A good starting point is the installation manual. I was impressed, it was very clear and well done. I had my installation done by Ulrich Marine in Branson West. They have done quite a few of these installations and very professional and competent. If you have any more questions, please contact me.
  25. Why Eric, of course, it is. There is an old Marine Corps saying: "When your the finest, it's hard to be humble."
