  1. That would be my guess also.
  2. Howdy BCO! Be sure and watch the weather forecast for the night of Aug. 11.
  3. If they turn the water off by Labor Day, you will have to park in Christain Couty.
  4. I saw a post on another web site out of Arkansas. ACOE is predicting power pool levels on Beaver & Bull Shoals to happen on November 17. Since Tablerock is between the two, I'm guessing it will be the same. Predictions were based on 24/7 generation at the current rates.
  5. Dano attempted to bring this topic back to catch & release. Most of Missouri's trout water is catch and keep with the option of C & R. Most of the people that i fish with are C & R and they don't try to shove it down your throat like some did in the" 25 pound brown topic " that was closed. You can turn a big fish back to the water, and they will even criticize you about that. You took too many pictures, or you fought the fish too long, you did not wet your hands properly. You've heard the story before! C & R is good, taking limits is good. Knowing when and where to apply these options is the key. I think that MDC does an excellent job of that. I think that each and every angler should have the option of keeping a trophy fish or a limit of fish if they choose to do so.
  6. Send those high tech people to t-como with a flyrod, waders, and the high water. That will humble them and bring them back to planet earth.
  7. Dano Do you feel like you are moderating a day care facility sometimes?
  8. Congratulations to Mr. Rick Spegal! What a tremendous Brown! It is a well proportioned fish, and will make an excellent mount. I find it very disturbing that so many fellow anglers are so critical of this gentleman's catch of a lifetime.Do you want people to do this to you, when it's your record catch? This is probably #4 or #5 of the largest browns caught in Missouri. We have a right to be envious, but not critical.
  9. Sorry to hear about the windshield. Makes me want to chase the person down when it happens, of course I never do. I did not realize that your "mini" was a custom order rod. I thought that you were referring to the older, like myself, style of park rod used back in the late 60's & 70's. I have, and still use occasionally, a Berkley Para/Metric six footer, and two Lake King graphite seven footers, all are 2-piece and 5 wt. Thanks for the report at Roaring! I caught one good brown at T-como on Thursday, and three border- line fish. Take care Murdoc!
  10. Glad to hear you got out Murdoc! By mini fly rod, are you talking about a six footer or less? I still have one of those for the old days at Bennett, also two seven footers that i still play with occasionally.
  11. November!
  12. I am a tree stump. People that move around alot, we refer to as, a stampede of cattle! Good fishing to you sir!
  13. Thank you for staying away, and also telling others to do the same!
  14. Go to" General Angling Disscussions"
  15. Thanks Catman! From reports that I have had in the past, I did not know that there were browns that size. How large do the rainbows grow?
  16. Big browns at Beaver? Is that a miss-print ? How big are you talking about?
  17. Hi Murdoc! Good to see you on here occasionally. I can't imagine you saying anthing bad to anyone, even if they deserve it. Thanks again for the handcrafted fly box! How are the nets coming along?
  18. It's like Dovetail said, everyone has the $3 attitude. They paid their $3 so "they think" that they have the right to fish anywhere they choose at any given time. Stream courtesy seemed to slip downstream in the mid eighties. Prior to that, people would respect your fishing area and your backcast. What a pleasant day when someone still does. Believe me, courtesy "today" does not go unnoticed! Unfortunatey, this same disregard for the other fisherman, has infested itself at Lake T-como and numerous other areas. This will sound cruel, but the children that someone referred to in an earlier post, about walking in front of you, guess what, they are the offspring of those that missed the courtesy boat in the eighties.
  19. Where did you encounter this fish? My guess is that it was a juvenile {less than 6 inches} Arlee strain, more commonly referred to as the Missouri strain. Juvenile Mclouds have that look also. Please tell us more.
  20. I hope you get another chance at him Zach. I've caught 11 good rainbows in my last four trips, but no browns over three pounds. I'm planning on a Sunday night trip myself. Good luck!
  21. It is really a welcome change to find people talking about" fishing trips" on the" upper lake", past and present. Most of the topics of the last few weeks/months had nothing to do with fishing the upper lake. Most should have been posted in another section of the forum. Come on guys, let talk some fishing! Thanks to ones that are.
  22. That's a tremendous brown, espesically for this time of the year. Depending if it were a male or a female, any guesses on the weight? I saw a 33inch male that went 15 pounds, and a 32inch female that weighed 18 pounds. Most people do not believe me when I tell them that you can catch big browns on sowbugs and scuds. I can understand the hands & knees thing, without that the thrill is gone! Well done zsmith.
  23. Keep in mind that this was a true white bass that Micheal caught, not a striper or a hybrid that is most commonly caught. The all tackle world record is 6 pounds 13 ounces. Only two other fish in the record book exceeds Michaels catch, and one only beats him by one ounce. He has "the" largest ever recorded on fly rod. The other record fish are spin rod / all tackle records.
  24. Congratulations to Micheal Kyle, owner/operator of Back Country Outfitters in Springfield, Mo. Micheal established a new IGFA fly rod /line class world record for a White Bass that he caught recently. A record that had stood for 27 years. Now that this record is officially in the book, I can tell the story that led up to him accquiring this prestigious award. Last winter,Micheal, sat around the fly shop and researched the record book looking for a world record fish that he could pursue in our area of lakes and streams. He chose this fish and this line class as his goal, and went after it. The record that he chose to pursue, just happened to be the largest fish listed in all seven of the line categories. The old record was 3 pounds 8 ounces, Micheals new record is 3 pounds 12 ounces. He then researched IGFA as to certain limits and requirements associated with fly line, leader, tippett material, and even what qualifies as a fly. IGFA has minimum and maximum requirements. He then reserched tippett materials that had a history of meeting all of IGFA's standards as to mimimum and maximum break test. This is one of the most important requirements that IGFA requires. If your tippett fails by as little as one tenth of one pound, you're history in that particular line class. Micheal spent many, many hours on the water to acheive this goal. Most records are caught by accident, but not this one. World record holders are few and far between in the Show-Me State, and even fewer that are "Fly Rod" World Record holders. Micheal earned his place in that group. Well done Micheal, well done!
  25. Happy Birthday Micheal. Did you go fish the honey hole to celebrate?
