  1. I am up in Kansas with a place there, but the weather channel has been talking about significant icing and power outages. I love the snow...............it's the ice storms that have given me fits.

    Ice Storm

Are you boys getting hit by ice down at the Lake? Is it just me or has the last couple of years been extreme for NW Arkansas??
  3. After years of forking out big bucks for Simms, I changed to just getting seconds and blems from ebay. I have 2 pairs of Orvis and one Cabela's and if i can recall correctly they were less than a third of retail price. Go with stocking foot and wear over a good pair of fleece wading pants. You can often find discontinued Simms or Orvis boots or you can just go with Hodgmans as they are decent boot. BTW I have never had a pair of these seconds or blem's leak when bought.
  4. Sort of Off -topic, but Cabela's has Mcsticks in Clown for $9.99 . Sure look great. I fish the hide off these things on Beaver last winter and never caught a fish.
  5. Yep. That was us. We were on the most fish we found all week, 40' down in 75' of water. Trolled it with jigs and plugs, then worked it hard with spoons.no luck. Saw quite a few of Andriessen's boats in the area but did not see any one catching fish. Maybe it will settle down some and we will get on them next month. Good Luck!!!
  6. Fished Thurs thru Sat A.M. Point 5 to the Dam. Very few Stripers located and none caught.. Toughest fishing I have had on Beaver. Picked up 2 small mouth on Wednesday very late on spook. Would like to hear how the rest of you did. These results have me second guessing..............
  7. Did anyone get out this weekend on the Lwr end?? I am coming down for a few days starting Wednesday. Mid - October Striper fishing was very good to me last year.
  8. Here we go again.............. Lake up 3.5 feet in last 24 hours. Looks like the Corp is not releasing. waiting in line for downstream lakes.
  9. I have heard some reports of folks taking Stripers on Spoons. Do any of you folks fish them for Stripers?? If so, what type/size /brand /technique etc? It sounds like something I would like to try.
  10. If plastic bottles last 10,000 years in a landfill, I would guess that you could store it outside.
  11. I have the same motor and have to pump the primer bulb if I let the boat sit for more than a week. I was told that I should not have to do it, but about half the ETEC owners I have heard do the same thing. Now, I just pump the bulb as a standard practice on the first start. I really love this motor. There is an ETEC owners forum that is a great source of info that is ran by some certified tech's. I have gotten good advice on any issue with the motor. I will run up the link if you can't find it.
  12. I have tried fishing for them a couple of times by trolling and can never seem to find them. I have caught 2 in the past year, both on rattle traps while bass fishing, and they both were pushing 5 lb's. I think there are going to be some monster walleyes showing up in a few years.
  13. I think Champ is right on the night fishing, but I have caught good fish during the day in October from point 3 to the dam. I think good Live bait is always been the best, but Jigs and deep plugs worked well last year.
  14. I couldn't get down this weekend, but was curious how the drawdown was affecting the fishing......It is getting to be an annual event!!
  15. Last year I started using feather-craft furled leaders for all of my flyfishing..trout/stripers/salwater. Use fluro or mono tippet depending on the application. Great product!!!
  16. Looking at today's hourly levels, it looks like the sustained release is on. I am going to leave it alone until it stabilizes and I "re- remember" the hazards.

    Saturday

Fished last Friday and Sunday 5:30 to around 8:30 AM. Looking for fish on top. Could not find anything point 3 to the Dam area, but found a few fish around mouth of Big Clifty and on around point 5. Busted off a good one (bad knot) on a jig, and caught approx 5 lb'er on a Yozuri. They were in 20-30' real close to River channel.
  18. If you catch and release Stripers the Boga is the way to go. Sounds like the Lippa is good for trout, but I went thru a bunch of cheap knock offs before I sucked it up and forked over the cash for a Boga. Put a float on it so I wont have a heart attack if I drop it in to 200' of water in Beaver.
  19. Another vote for Power pro Green. You could not pay me to use Fireline again.
  20. I havent been down in 2 weeks, but Lost Bridge area down to point 5 is where I would look. I like the Lost Bridge South and Starkey area. Hard to find Live bait, especially early AM. Barnett's pawn shop usually has brood minnows (about 3") that have worked, but they don't open until 8:30 A.M (I found out the hard way) and are closed on Sunday. Small bream or sun perch work fine and are easy to catch shallow around most docks on a little piece of worm. I rig 25 Lb test with a 2-4 oz. sinker down to a good quality barrel swivel, and then attach about 4' of 20 lb Berkeley big game or Seaguar fluor with a 2/0 circle hook, as a summer pattern. I have seen guys slow trolling balloon rigs this time of year but I have not tried that yet. My best fish this year was right at 25 lb's and Was trolling the summer rig above with a 2 Oz jig and 5 " curly tail when I could not find live bait. Good Luck. There are a lot of guys with more knowledge than I have and maybe they will chime in!!!
  21. Sam, I was down Memorial weekend fighting the rain. In a few hours fishing I could not locate any fish in the Lost Bridge South, Starkey, Honey Creek area. I did get a report that a buddy found them in mouth of Dry Creek Cove very early Monday. I believe this is just east (toward the dam) from Indian point campground. Said they were up but it was over by 7:00 AM. for what it is worth. Good Luck

    Help

I recently purchased the new Stylus Tough 6000. It is waterproof to 10' and I am impressed the picture quality and functionality. I believe I paid in the $250 range.
  23. I will be heading down to the Lake this weekend. Anyone still seeing Stripers on top? I found them in the Ventris area a couple of weeks ago, but have not been down since. Thanks.
  24. Got to go down to the Lake Saturday and Sunday, but did not get to spend as much time Fishing as I would have liked. On Saturday we stayed in the Lost Bridge to Starkey area getting skunked and did not mark hardly any fish. Did catch one nice small mouth on main lake point up shallow coming back to camp. On early A.M. Sunday found fish on top in Ventris area but only hooked one hybrid and a white on Red fin. Water clarity was 2-3 feet and getting worse. This next bunch of rain wont help.
  25. ZSpook, Thanks for the input. Were you throwin' a redfin? What area of the lake were you fishing. ?I am going down Sat/Sun.
