Great pictures! Good job on catching them fish Dylan.

Thanks guys. Chief, no tripod yet. I found a rock to sit it on. Fishin

I do know there are both spots and smallies in this creek. Not sure about the hybrids.
-
Count me in. I dont fish it a lot, but it would be nice to have it cleaned up and taken care of. Maybe the hatchery would do more stocking if the city takes an interest in the stream.

I Had things to do early, so I got to the creek about 1:00 today. Started working my way upstream, fishing a xrap at any sign of deeper water. There was a lot of shallow water and it turned into a walk. Finally found a deep hole, just about the time I should think about heading back to get the boy off the bus. Made a few casts with the jerkbait but no takers. Put on a tube and made 2 casts and hooked up with a decent bass. Took a few pics and had to start walking back. It was a nice day to be out fishing.

I've been around, just been busy last couple months. My son Andrew got hooked up with guitar hero for Christmas, I got addicted for a couple weeks. I got some jigs made up this last week for some white bass action coming up soon. Need to get the spoonbill rods ready for some snagging. That was a chunky one from shoal last year, had nice colors. I need to get a small mount for the camera on float trips to get better pics. Fishin

Nice finds!

Nice fish Chief. I was there the day after that with the boys, we seen a few fish jumping between the mill and bridge. Caught one little rainbow at lower access, before Andrew went in to deep with his waders .

Congrats Ollie, thats a nice looking Brown. Buzz, I hope they stock some stupid ones cause thats the only kind of trout I can catch. You guys put up with some nasty weather today, hopefully you all get a nice day next time you go back.

Ye Ol' Tresspass Thread Again
fishinSWMO replied to Chief Grey Bear's topic in General Angling Discussion
I think there needs to be more legal public access to our rivers and streams. The state says they are our waters for public use, but the problem is gaining entry to those waters. And then when on the water just what is considered legal? Some land owners think you cant step foot out of your canoe on the bank they own. Lots of unknowns for sure, or at least grey areas. Here is a photo close to the house of some signs on a tree, the creek is about 6 feet away. -
I have to work on Sunday, but would rather be fishing. Hope you guys have a good time.

The fishing was hot today on the creek. I dont keep good track of numbers, but if I had to guess it was over 30 landed and a lot of misses. The water is getting very clear, so its fun to watch the bass go after your bait. The fish started out small and kept getting a little bit bigger through out the day. Caught smallies, largies and spots.

I will Chief.

Sorry Chief, I have had it so long, I would hate to sell it. I do need to try it out next year, and see if I can catch anything with it. Fishin

I had a dog incident last week. This dog just shows up out of the blue and makes himself at home. After spending the night there in the yard, he starts to get very aggressive with any dog in sight. He would stand up and try to get at our beagle in our arms, trying to get him in the house. By this time we had called the law, and the neighbors who had dogs attacked called. They came and checked out the situation and called the dog catcher.

GloryDaze A co-worker told me about a float he went on spring river, I think it was 2 weeks ago. Anyways he went with a bunch of guys on a catfish tournament for 2 days and 1 night. They put in at Carthage and camped at Alba, then on to Quaker mill. He said there was a lot of log jams on the first half. I guess they flipped the canoe and had a bad day overall and decided not to float the second half. I would guess it would be about the same on down river.

Thanks Chief Here is a couple pictures of my tadpolly. I have had it forever, but I don't think I have ever used it. Just hanging on the wall. I might need to put some new hooks on it and give it a try.
-
Those are some darn nice fish Chief. Great picture of the river also. I bet your Dad wont hold it against you for catching more than him. Can you still buy those tadpollys new? I have one that looks just almost like yours, have had it for years but dont use it.
-
Chief, From Alba to highway 171. But mostly right around galesburg down to where north fork dumps in to spring. Did a lot of camping and setting lines for catfish. Lots of floats from quaker mill to 43 highway, or 43 to galesburg. Brings back good memories. We did a 2 day float once from above Carthage to galesburg, that was a lot of fun. I miss the camping on the river the most. Fishin

Way to go Emmanuel, on learning to use a fly rod. I am sure you will have a blast catching some trout with Buzz this winter. Fishin

Thats awsome! Nothing better than fishing with your Dad and your son at the same time. I wish I could get my father to get out and do more fishing. Spring river was were I spent a lot of time growing up. Maybe a little farther west but Jasper county. Congrats to your Dad on a nice one. Fishin

Nice pictures! I need to get down that way some time and do some fishing.

Here is a few pictures of the float. Sorry, I didn't get everybodys picture landing a fish, but I know we all caught some. It was a great time on the creek for sure. A pleasure meeting everybody there and doing some fishing together.

Last minute update, my brother called and said he was coming after all. I think he needed to get some fishing in since he wasn't able to go this weekend.
