  1. Who's floating Gavin? Or, who's suggesting it? (You're in-box)
  2. Like CWF said, call some outfitters. Bobber or someone else should see this thread too. Try PM'ing Bobber for some advice. Have fun!
  3. Sorry Al, I didn't hate it too much a couple of weeks ago. I believe I know what you mean though.
  4. I'll be using Brian's services this summer. Got to check out the Eleven Point. Brian, if you see this, what's the name of the gal who runs the Motel 60 there at the junction of 60 and 19 in Winona? Stayed there many times. Used to have her card. If you don't know it's no biggie. She'd kill me for not remembering! KC
  5. Lunds are an awesome boat for big open water. If I fished those types of water I'd love to own a Lund. I guess it depends on the strength of the trolling motor, but in a heavy wind those deep V's can be tough to direct. Still, it beats bouncing around in a typical bass boat.
  6. Isn't that gigged fish a spot?
  7. I donated to the Red Cross. Those people need food and water first and foremost. The Red Cross will see that a donation will take care of the ultimate needs first. I understand that other legit organizations (and there are plenty of legit organizations helping) could use money. Doctors Without Borders comes to mind. I saw on the news their HQ's were leveled. Help the Haitians like we'd support and care for a catastrophic event such as an earthquake along the New Madrid fault. Hopefully most of you guys know what the potential damage would be from that...
  8. Terrible situation down there. Here's praying that some of you guys and gals can contribute if possible.
  9. With the warmer temps back even shallow ponds would be unsafe I'd think. If any of us on the forum sees somebody attempting to go out on unsafe ice we should ask them to think twice about it. Seems like teens and children are the worst culprits. I'm sure not always though...
  10. Ouch! paybacks are hell! To each his (or hers) own my friend...
  11. Think about this for a second. Pioli is the GM. Weis and Crennel are the coordinators. Haley is the head coach?. Could Bill Bellichek be our head coach soon? New England is starting to regress. There's work to be done in KC. Hmmmmm.....?
  12. Thanks bud for replying. I've caught very few browns in my lifetime, biggest was an 18 inch one from Roaring River outside the park. Released it. The reason I asked was it seems the browns always bulldogged and the rainbows wanted to twist and shout! My experience's on the North Fork have always been on the upper. Smallmouth's my friend, I live in KC and I've got to travel for the fish of my choice. Vegas detox? You don't know me Brian... it's a B**ch!
  13. A smallmouth stamp would be weird, since they are a native Missouri fish. I'd buy it only because I love fishing for smallies. Just wish MDC would concentrate their efforts on our native fish. (Oh... excuse me, they do - see NIANGUA DARTER!). Another stupid regulation is to have a 15" limit on smallmouth on our lakes, yet... a six fish 12" limit on our streams still exists? The MDC needs to get it together. I EAT trout... I fight smallmouth.
  14. Scientific evidence in order to make changes in regulations? The regs for keeping smallmouth (outside of SMA's) have not been changed since 1961 or '62? What scientists ARE providing evidence for change after almost 50 years? Why aren't MDC biologist (isn't that scientific evidence?) reports not enough to catch us up to the rest of the departments across the country? Glad the SMA's were implemented, but outside of those areas, the 6 fish, 12" length should be changed. The MDC's conservationist magazine used to have articles about floating and fishing for smallmouth. They still do, but not nearly as much. Not their "cash cow" so to speak. In the end, I believe the MDC has plenty of "scientific evidence" to support the smallmouth fisherie's here in Missouri. They need to get off of their butt. Keep stocking those trout MDC... hope you're proud of yourself.

    Thanksgiving

    No wonder you're fat.
  16. Just got back from a four day Vegas trip this afternoon. I'm in detox dude! Typed that message with one eye. Am I serious? ... meaning Browns vs. Bows? Does a 14" Brown fight better than a 14" Rainbow? Help this old a**ed city boy out!
  17. Do you want to float somewhere on the upper JF? Basically the Prongs to Alley Spring. The lower is from Alley to Two Rivers (Current River). How far do you want to float in one day? Lots of fishing or just floating and enjoying the scenery? Do you need an outfitter to rent you a canoe and shuttle you, or do you have your own canoe (or kayaks?). My experience is plenty of big fish from Shawnee Creek down to Two Rivers... if fishing you're thing. The 18" limit on the upper JF I hope is working. Scenery is the best in the state for a float IMO. Check out a map online. The upper spots not to miss are Jam Up Cave and as far as a place to camp... the gravel bar across from Chalk Bluff is absolutely beautiful. Fun to watch the bats at dusk. Holler if you need advise or help, I'm friends with a couple of people down there. KC
  18. Cool video Brian! I couldn't keep up with ya, but it'd be a blast trying. A question for you... I've never fly-fished in my life and I'd like to ask you what's the difference between a trout caught on a flyrod and a smallmouth taken the same way? I know you're in the trout water down there and trout it seems are your first passion. Also, do you see a difference in how browns and rainbows fight? Heck, even a difference between the small and large of both species... Final note... marathon trout trip across Missouri PLUS mexican food everyday PLUS zip-down flap on the backside of your waders... PRICELESS!
  19. Forsythian, how far up from the 86 bridge was that pic taken? From the island heading south when do you run into ice? And hey bud... peace to you too! KC
  20. Be in your neck of the woods from saturday till tuesday Rich. My sister moved out there a few months ago. Staying at Harrah's. Never fished out there in my namesake lake (Mead). Would like to someday. Looking forward to the pics. Has the water level come up at all from the last few years? KC
  21. We're all really, really sick of illegal fish being stuck and there are different OPINIONS on how to possibly deter the problem. Don't know how much further this thread will run, but I'm gonna hijack it just a bit and tell you all what I'm really, really sick of... THIS darn WEATHER! Blew into my hands three times to type this... Stay warm and drive safe guys and gals... KC
  22. Glad you got out for a bit wounded... if you tried fishing up here today you'd have to change your name to "self-inflicted one". That dang Buzz is always giving away the places he was gonna take me! ... it's not the Dakotas, but it's brutal here in KC.
  23. God forbid I don't catch any fish... God forgive if I don't enjoy my day!
  24. Wayne, you misread me... I think suckers are vital to stream health.
  25. Forsythian, if that big ol' boy in your avatar looks left, he's definitely in the drink cause he'll be leaning right. Now... if he tries to look "BACKWARDS", an aquatic back flip is certainly in order! Peace to you too bud...
