  1. Great pics wrench! You know... sure, of course I love to catch fish while on a trip, but the biggest parts of any trip on the water to me is enjoying the scenery and enjoying the company sharing the day with ya. Looks to me like you had the best of all three! KC
  2. Just added the website to my "favorites list". Makes me nervous to think about quitting. Better head to the deck for a smoke!
  3. Dano... I apologize for my tone in this statement. No class on my part... KC
  4. Received an e-mail reply from Gilbert. Didn't say much... basically what Bobber stated. Insurance is high, driver fees, leases, etc. They have to lease the parking lot where you keep your vehicle while floating.
  5. Bobber, like Al said, all the wife and I did was drive to Gilbert, park the truck there, then took a van ride for the short little trip to TB. Like I said, I certainly understand shuttle fees being charged for long shuttles, even if they're not shuttling your vehicle (just you and your gear), with one guy providing the service. Believe me... I'm not gonna quit floating the Buffalo because of any shuttle fees. Too beautiful of a river and the fishings great! Just posed the question concerning them because I don't know of any other outfitter on any other river that charges one for the particular trip we took. KC
  6. A guide... never fly fished. Maybe if some of you trout guys would ever respond to some of us smallmouth guys... this forum might come together a little bit more. I've made a few comments about trout fishing, and I sure enjoyed laker67's story. Awesome! You sound like a humble guy laker. I love the trout fishing posts as much as the smallie posts... sorry Chief!
  7. Well Dano... thats just fine, but, it's to darn much! I am going to look into this further, and will give ya'll an answer. Gilbert hasn't answered me yet. If they don't, I'll call them. It's too dang much!
  8. Twin Bridges? If you don't wanna say that's O.K. KC
  9. Just shot an e-mail to the folks at the Gilbert store. If they send me an explanation I'll post it... still, I'm looking for a canoe.... KC
  10. Whoever moved the topic to the correct forum... thanks!
  11. And yep, like Flysmallie said, we used Gilberts.
  12. Yep... $77 total for the day after taxes. Three mile (approx.) shuttle upstream, one way.
  13. Oh... by the way, I still wanna know about those shuttle charges.
  14. Thanks griz... thinking my Discovery 169 purchase will go thru. If not, might contact them about their Buffalo's. Do you like that particular canoe?
  15. Old Town 169... it's in great shape. If the money's right, I'm on it. If not... I really liked the way my rods layed in a Buffalo canoe I floated in last week.
  16. Thanks Clay... I saw them after I looked the second time! You always take some awesome photo's. KC
  17. I apologize for posting this on the Taney forum. Just started typing. Couldn't figure out how to bump it over to the Buffalo forum. Hope I still get some answers... KC
  18. Question... what's the deal with the shuttle fees on this river? I figure it's got something to do with the park service being it's a national park. Every other river I've ever rented canoes from doesn't charge the fees these outfitters do. I know that all outfitters charge extra if they shuttle you way upstream from their location, and if they have to pick you up before you arrive at their location. I understand that part of it. But heck... we rented from the Gilbert general store last week and our trip was from Tyler Bend to Gilbert. Three mile shuttle upstream tops! $25 for the ride? Who gets that money? I mean... you rent a canoe for $45 (in Missouri they're "only" $40 on weekends, cheaper than that during the week), then they tack on the shuttle fee! It's really expensive if you head further upstream. Any reply's on this would be appreciated! By the way... might be purchasing a canoe tomorrow!
  19. Lots of smallmouth, especially in the upper stretches. The waters lots warmer up there. I've fished quite a bit from Hale's down to Hammond Camp and have had good luck from time to time fishing.
  20. Hey you two... I can't imagine how beautiful your area is up there in the great northwest. What kind of fishing you guys do up there? Also... I'm so glad you're interested in our little neck of the woods!
  21. One of my favorite places out there is the East Fork of the Gunnison above lake San Cristobal. What a beautiful area!
  22. Beautiful shots! What is the one pic of with the, I guess, vegetation of?
  23. Where you heading out there gunner?
  24. had it to ourselves Buzz
