  1. C'mon Phil... you live in Missouri! But I think you're from Kansas if I remember previous posts. Have the same problem with my father-in-law. Hey... KU and MU both got screwed by having to travel for the first round. KU wins the conference title, Mizzou wins the tourney. What did Oklahoma win? Oh... they've got Blake Griffin! The pollsters had them ranked higher all year because of it. Well, at least we beat OU when he was playing. Being here in the KC area I was going to the Sprint Center if Mizzou was placed there. OU is sent close to home instead. Hope they win... always pulling for the Big XII.
  2. Wife and I are heading to Kauai in the morning for ten days. Hope to take a charter but we'll see. Regardless, I'll post a few pics when I'm back...
  3. You know, I use to read his columns in the Springfield paper after my in-laws moved to Shell Knob. Then all of a sudden he disappeared. Hmmmm........
  4. Hey Hambone... I've got three that were right around 4lbs. but it's been awhile. Two on the Jacks Fork and one on the North Fork. I'm like most on this subject, all smallies are special and anything over 15" really feels special. Especially in moving water. Attaching a couple of pics of my last nice one caught on the Jacks Fork last August. Not a four pounder, but he measured 171/2". Forgive my expressions (smugness in one and in the 2nd one... no, he wasn't THAT heavy!) Good fishing to ya...
  5. Couple or three years ago, a buddy of mine and me were camping overnite on one of our favorite Jacks Fork holes. Sitting around the fire just before dark, had a female otter cruise by us raising a little cane. Seconds later her man came up, got on the gravel bar, and tried to charge us! We jumped up and started yelling at him and clapping our hands and he went back in the river and followed her. Heard them come back downstream around 2:00 A.M. Had caught fish from the hole before this took place. Next morning... not a bite. And to think I actually rescued one from a trap years ago from Coal Camp Creek!
  6. 1027 E. Main St. Ph. 660-438-9708. West off of 65 (Pizza Hut Exit across from the gocery store). You won't be sorry!
  7. BIZBUB... what the hell... Happy day Buzbib!
  8. Dammit... was hopeing you and the Chief wouldn't age too fast to show me the way down there this spring.! Happy day Bizbub!
  9. Nothing like a trip with Dad. My Pa got me started on rivers back in the 60's. He's coming back from his retirement home in Az. this Sept. to float the Jacks Fork with me again. I can't wait!
  10. They should make Jay McGwire chief of scouting operations...
  11. maybe that pic of him with his rod in his mouth is from the 17th?
  12. Yes Phil, he does. Wrote an article for the Sunday paper today about a young man killed by a road hunter while goose hunting.
  13. Looks to me like that boy's on his way to gettin' things figured out Chief. Once he gets there, have him fill me in!
  14. If you can't catch a smallmouth!
  15. Beautiful Chief... me and a buddy floated the Current from Cedar Grove to Akers a few years back with 6"' of snow on the ground. Caught trout but no cold!
  16. From what Tim's saying maybe Stubblefield is the 39 bridge? Big field there. The one guy talked about metal detecting.
  17. Howdy Tim... you better than anyone knows Flat Creek's a great float beings you're a local. As far as drunks and drugs... I wonder just what goes on in the park during summer? I don't know... maybe I've just been lucky to enjoy great fishing and conditions every time I've floated Flat Creek. Again... thanks for the trespassing info by the cemetary. I'm stopping by the hatchery this weekend and I'm fishing from Muncy upstream. Recognized where the "Epic Trip" boys were and they should have been upstream a 1/4 mile or more!
  18. Never had a problem on Flat Creek from the 39 bridge to EE. Looking forward to EE to the take out just above the lake. Nice smallies every trip.
  19. Don't know if any of you know John Gruender & his wife Karen who own and operate Cedar Camp on the Little Niangua. They were a great couple and the only outfitter on the upper river (located between Climax Springs and Macks Creek). Karen called me last night and informed me of John's passing this last September of a heart attack while waiting on a group of floaters to haul back. Asking all of you to keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She is going to make a go of keeping Cedar Camp open with the help of family and friends.
  20. Beautiful fall colors Chief. Your little girl's got fisherwoman written all over her! C'mon spring!
  21. Canadien Fly-In Fishing. Two great gals and Noel the pilot came out twice to take care of us. Great lakes, great fast water fishing through the portages (walleye & pike). Also a plus... they allow 150# of gear. Too far north for smallies. We were north of Woodland Caribou Provencial (sp?) Park, out of Red Lake. There were four of us and we all had our own boat for the week.
  22. Fish On... exclamations made after encountering flying carp. Lunkers... left in the woods by the "Epic Trip" duo. O.K. I'll stop!
  23. WMD's... Chomper Stand-Up jigheads. Drag Queen... what I call my wife when she loses a fish. Depth Finder... won't go there. Aluminum canoe... fish detractor. Paddle... what the skinny guy in back yells to his big wife up front. Jet Ski... fair game.
  24. J-Stroke... how you stir your bourbon & water towards the end of your trip. Wife... what a person is called who out fishes you. #@%wife... what a person is called who reminds you of the above. Money Fish... also known as a Creek Chub. After gas, lodging, and food this is what I catch? Secret Lure... what a wife posseses. (usually in the form of a perfume.) Trolling Motor... type of engine that backs vehicles into Taney parking lots. Where's the Beef... post-spawn smallies. Farm Trout... seriously, what my wife says instead of "Far Out!" Cool Beans... seriously, wife uses this also. Hopeing she's not referring to yours truly.
  25. I think it must be a mistake by Fox, but don't know for sure. Coaches and the AP have Florida #1.
