Went up war eagle today , started at $2 hole and worked my way up to the mill , I caught a few small male white bass and i couldn’t keep the small largemouth off my minnows ! I only got the whites right below the mill , we are a few weeks away I think ..
I've seen guys fish the white bass run at twin bridges in shifts , a few get there in the morning ( worked 3rd shift ) and would fish until some guys came around 4 or so , then they would leave and those Guys would fish until dark ! I saw them carrying out two stingers with what looked like it was easily 100 white bass on them , hell they had to wrap them around a log to carry them out ...
There are lots of suckers in the river right now , had a lot of hits and what felt like decent hook ups but lost a bunch of fish , the water is very low right now ...long story short , no whites and three sucker , two of which were huge !!!
I can't go until the afternoon so ,I'm not worried about the colder mornings , I know they are catching whites up war eagle , got a buddy that's been hammering them ...and small walleye too
I went below the mill again , managed a handful of bait theiving small bass !! Wind was to much !!! Did talk to a guy who had 6 whites . All males , so I know they there ...
No whites to date , they have to be there soon , with air temps the next few days ..I always do well in the spot I was at yesterday , the bass seem to bite first then the whites come later ...most bass were small but a few were two pounds or so ..
Got one keeper walleye ( barely )
16 bass
four perch
I walked as far down from the mill as I could , and was using a crank bait and minnows , the crank bait was an old orange and black crawfish pattern ( storm I think ) the walleye and all the decent bass came on the crank bait ...
Going out tomorrow , but I will be on foot , anyone been up war eagle by the mill or cemetary hole ? I heard walleye were below the mill but I don't know if that's the truth ?
