  1. Wilderness Systems is coming out with a 11.5ft Ride. It has a tri-hull design so it is extremely stable and tracks very well. Here is a link to the 13.5ft model. http://www.wildernesssystems.com/product_subcategory/index/angling/angling_kayaks/angler_ride
  2. I am looking forward to some of the big names it will bring in. Shows, classes, etc. This should really be a huge shot in the arm for the FLW as well.
  3. No 6 or 7's this go around. I am awful partial to my Clouser rod. I do imagine this rod would cover the gamut of what your hunting though. (I wont tell your wife if you want it)
  4. A sinking line should be heavier than a normal line.....I dont understand why he would have had you try a sinking line thats 2wts heavier. IMO this was a bad idea. The sinking lines do take a little more effort to cast, as well as it being a horse of a rod. Alot of times you are needing faster line speed to get proper loading. This isnt an instance when your tossing tiny dries......your shotgunning a heavier line. Again, IMO the Orvis rod is a slower rod, and will be a bit different in timing with a heavier line. Alot of guys who are casting larger rods and heavier line are looking for a very fast rod.

  7. I am pretty anal about keeping my gear looking nice. I tend to clean lines and rod after use. Guess I got into the habit from shooting muzzleloaders so long. It hasnt been fished a ton though. I do believe I forgot to include the warranty card, so I will drop that in an envelope and get it out to you this weekend. Be sure and get a few good pictures of those monsters your gonna catch with the rod.
  8. I fish for bass more than trout with a fly rod.....how did the rod break? I have never even had one come close to snapping. Welcome to the forum.
  9. Would'nt having a limit and then having one in your hand while unhooking it count as possesion? I mean the agent would have to be a bit carried away to see it that way,but......
  10. I throw a 6wt TFO Clouser Rod and really like it. Plenty of power to get good linespeed, but subtle enough to really feel the bottom.
  11. I imagine I can swing that as long as you promise it will get fished.....haha. Dropping you a pm. Thanks.
  12. I'll drop the price to $100.
  13. Bump.
  14. Great pics. Check out Google's Picasa for a free, easy way to make light changes to your pics. A little fill light, cropping, b/w. It makes short work of simple adjustments.
  15. Hey Peter, It is what I call a medium fast. Softer tip. It is a very forgiving taper, and the extra foot is very nice for casting and landing out of a boat. It is a roll casting machine as well. I use it with a Rio Grande line and its about perfect. Subtle enough to toss dries without popping off, but it can handle a little bigger woolies. If your ever in the NW Arkansas area, drop me a message and come by to cast it. http://www.templeforkflyrods.com/products/rods/professional.html
  16. This is the Templ Fork 10' 5wt fly rod. Fished maybe 3 times. I have the warranty card. Gotta get the AC in the car fixed, so extras gotta go. $125 plus shipping. I will get some pictures. Feel free to ask any questions.
  17. Columbia sportswear has a backpack designed to be a cooler. http://www.columbia.com/Brewha%E2%84%A2-Insulated-Backpack/UU9795,default,pd.html
  18. Had a great float Sunday afternoon. Water has changed a ton.....but there is an awful lot of structure to fish. Put in at Pineville(thanks to Russ and his wonderful bride) and floated to Riverside. Great water level and not much traffic the farther I got from Pineville. Ole Blue turned alot of heads as well as my fly flinging. Boated about a dz fish on a clouser and poppers. Saw lots of females near or on beds.....so I am guessing the spawn will be coming shortly. Russ and JeanAnn rock. I owe you guys and will make it up to you next go around. I imagine there is plenty of room in the boat, so we will have to make a trip out of it one of these evenings.
  19. There isn't alot to it Dano. Lets plan a weekend and get together over there and fish an afternoon. For me, alot goes into retrieval technique with streamers. Popping bugs take patience and the right surroundings. My fail safe smallie fly is simply a white cone head wooly with some crazy legs off of it in early spring summer. Mid summer to late summer I bring out the darker flies(crawfish, sculpin). If you want a trip, toss a mouse pattern in the late evening on days hot as you can stand it. A fish is a fish not matter the gear its caught on.
  20. Site looks good. Look forward to seeing you around the TW.

    Big Sugar

I was thinking about trying to sneak out before the throngs as well. Been too long since I had the boat out.
  22. I would be up for a raffle as well. Great plan.
  23. I have two. Great rods for the price. Able to throw a whole spool of Rio Grand line. If your ever around SWMO, drop me a message and you can try one.
  24. They have already been more proactive than they did in the 08 floods. They have been working the lakes down little by little. In the 08, they just let them fill to over flood stage.....and then it rained more. It is gonna take some close watch on their part for sure.
