I use Berkleys' Vanish 8lbs test. I'll put it up against p-line, or anyother line any day and twice on the river fishing days. My fishing buddies have seen me snag on the river and pull our 16 ft with 25hp jet upstream. I've yet to have a river smallie break it.

Fishing: Missouri, Kansas lakes and streams showing signs of trouble Read more here: http://www.kansascity.com/2013/03/15/4124270/missouri-and-kansas-lakes-and.html#storylink=cpy Sad situation for us fishermen, women and children. Good read about a bad sitution. One of our very own Al Agnew is quoted in this.

I was down at the White recently trout fishing, and the Buffalo and Crooked where both very low. The recent rains have probably helped some tho.
-
Could be the floods of the 93,and everything went every where. The spots reproduce faster and the methabillies haven't realized that spots are as tasty as smallies.
-
Really doesn't matter. As long as I'm fishing. I would love that 20" smallie, but being on fish all day and catching 15" + or - an inch or two is a great day. I know when we go fishing that our group has thier "go to" lure/bait. One of us usually catches smaller fish all day long. I usually catch less fish but catch larger ones on the average. Somedays I catch the numbers and the larger fish. I do like too try and hit as much water as possible, but like too try and go over a good producing hole at least twice.

25 Hp Johnson Outboard Repair
Kc River Ratt replied to Kc River Ratt's topic in General Angling Discussion
Thanks for the info Mitch. Will give him a call. -
Have a 25hp Johnson outboard, that needs upper and lower rebuild more or likely. Want someone that can diagnosis for sure, and do what needs done. Looking for a business that knows what they are doing but not over priced. Can drop off most any where in Missouri. Thanks for any response.

Looks like the water was very low. Did you happen to get a picture of the trout you caught?
-
Wow, that's so crazy let me say that backwards.... Wow! Saddest part is you ate them? Some people fish their whole lives and never see trophies like that, and you ate them.

Kellys Slab Renovation ~ Fishing Will Heat Up.
Kc River Ratt replied to Danoinark's topic in Crooked Creek
Have yet too fish Crooked. One of these days when heading too the White for some trout we check out Crooked. -
Thanx for the report Russ. Hope you and yours are doing well. Haven't been too the Elk in awhile. Hope too make it down that way sooner rather then later.

Hey Wacky... good too see ya posting. Been awhile since had any fishing reports down that way. Prolly gonna head too the White this week and thinking bout maybe hitting the Elk on our way back up. Just wondering what the current conditions are down that way? I know there hasn't been alot of rain so I'm assuming that its prolly pretty low. Any info would be great.
-
So 3 days ago was looking good? Prolly be down that way in a day or two, Anyone having any luck?
-
Sounds like a good time.

Anyone do any smallie fishing up this way? Been too Gravens twice now and both time the river looked like a catfish pond more then an ozark river. Planning my trips from KC a ahead of time doesnt always sit well with Mother Nature and its rained prior too my arriving. So I guess my other question is does the water up this way clear up aswell? Thanx in advance....

They had gotten rain earlier in the week and a storm blew thru that part of the country while was near Boiling Springs area. Havent checked the radar or flow in awhile since I've been back home.
-
Was a show bout them going up into the springs that feed LOZ and being able too perhaps survive the winters. They put some in a large tank and lowered the temp and it got below 50 before they started too really loose it.

Thanx TroutRinger, and gratz on yours. Jacks Fork is one of the rivers I wanna try sooner then later. 18 1/8 just a tad over 3lbs. I need those digital fish scales. Looked like a late spawn w/ all the high water perhaps? She had a flabby empty belly, and was actually kinda lethargic.

So decided too brave the summer heat this weekend. Was going too be fishing the upper Gasconade, but the early week rains have still got the water murky. So we decided too head down too the trophy area between Y hwy and Jerome. My previous PB was 16 inches... so when I pulled this one out I was a happy camper despite the heat. The water in the middle Gasconade was clearer then that below 44, flow was nice the bite was slow... and the heat was brutal. Thanx too Larry and his wife at Boiling Spring Campgrounds for the parking, put in and all the ice.

The Gasconade In June With 18' Jet Boat
Kc River Ratt replied to Transplanted Hoosier's topic in Gasconade River
We fished that part of the river last year. Lots of Jets running the river in Aug. We had a 16' Jet. Hope ya have good fun, and fishing. -
Was watching River Monsters the other day and that guy was catching these fish down in Florida. Seems that Asians think that after an operation if you eat this fish that you heal quicker. They came in from NY and where bringing them down too FL. Seems some joker thought if he released them into a small pond he could then get rich, as they sell for $20 a fish on the market. It is illegal too have a live one. Needless too say that the fish made their way into some of the local water and have been spreading like crazy. They showed where the fish was a small Dike away from the Everglades. http://animal.discovery.com/videos/river-monsters-catching-a-bullseye-snakehead.html This kinda fish was also found in East Central Arkansas...=( http://mdc.mo.gov/conmag/2008/07/water.htm Aquatic Invaders Snakeheads are the latest threat to our waters. The discovery of northern snakeheads in east-central Arkansas in April emphasizes how vulnerable Missouri waters are to aquatic invasive species. The toothy Asian fish can exceed 3 feet in length. When young, the aggressive predator competes with bass, sunfish and other native fish for food. When it grows larger, it eats the competition. Other exotic invaders, ranging from zebra mussels to the microscopic didymo, or “rock snot,” threaten to disrupt sport fisheries that attract millions of dollars in tourist income to the Show-Me State annually. For more information about how to avoid spreading such aquatic curses, visit www.MissouriConservation.org/n171.
