Big Bass Tournament
Stockton Lake Guide Service replied to Stockton Lake Guide Service's topic in Stockton Lake
i AGREE WITH THE TOURNAMENTS IN OCT. EVERYONE HAS THEIR CHAMPIONSHIPS AND WE DON'T WANT TO OR CAN'T COMPETE WITH THAT. I AM LOOKING AT AT SOME DATES RIGHT NOW AND WILL TRY TO FIGURE SOME STUFF OUT SOON ON THIS AND IF THERE WILL BE THUR EVENING TOURNAMENTS. -
I'm alive, just left town because all the ice on stockton, back in town and ready to fish!!! Red fish are hitting live shad in the shallows and sea trout are hitting 1/4 oz jigs with 4 inch grubs along the grass flats in the bay. Other than that I hear the crappie are biting like always on stockton!! I will be out there tues tring them out again. Thanks for checking on me Lilly. Neck still hurts, but guess that is just from getting old. Don't heal as fast!

Global Warming?
Stockton Lake Guide Service replied to Stockton Lake Guide Service's topic in Stockton Lake
Anyone stupid enough to dump ice melt on a lake in an attempt to thaw the ice, probably needs a well, lets just say a talking to about not dumping stuff in the water. I am not sure I would even have thought about dumping ice melt to make a place to fish...Some people are just smarter than us, we just got to face that fact, LOL. If we could only have gotten a picture, that is one that could make a comedy show of some type!! -
Global Warming?
Stockton Lake Guide Service replied to Stockton Lake Guide Service's topic in Stockton Lake
I haven't been lucky enough to get into them yet, but have heard that they are with the crappie feeding. People are picking them up while crappie fishing. The crappie seem to be moving more this winter. One day they will be 30 foot then they are suspended in 60 foot. It's been pretty cold so maybe the shad are moving more than last year. If you find the shad in less than 40 foot of water, that is where I would concentrate on the walleye. I haven't heard of any coming deeper than that. Sorry can't help you more. With the wreck I haven't been out as much as past years, but that is changing as of this week!! -
I have personally seen the effects of Global warming on stockton lake. Just yesterday, the ruark bluff ice shelf extended all the way out to the bridge. Today, it was only about 50 yards from the ramp. At this rate, it will be gone by Saturday. Hope you all are happy with yourselves. Algore says the only way to reverse this trend is to cut off your motor when going thru this area. Use only electric motors!!! Also, the crappie fishing was a little slow today. Found lots of shad so they are not far away and it was a great day to be out there!! Crappie can be found from 30 foot to 60 foot deep. Just find the shad and fish under, in, or above them. good luck!!

Oh yea, and I will donate a 4 hr guide trip for a prize if you want. just let me know!!

Do you have a website? if so send me a link and I will put on my facebook page and website for links. see if we can get you more boats.
-
for those of you that are on facebook.com. I have a facebook page that i am updating fishing reports, lake levels, conditions, etc. if you go to (click on my link) My link or just search for fishstocktonlake on facebook, click like and I will be updating everything on there. I will still post fishing reports on here and other forums, but if you want to follow me on facebook that would be awesome, plus I think it helps me out. I drove around some of the lake today. you can put in at both ramps at mutton creek. ruark is still frozen (should be open by sat but....) and most of the ramps north of mutton are ok. CC and Sons creek are froze pretty solid, so don't waste your time. Trips are starting to book up as people get cabin fever, so if you are wanting to go give me a call, or just call and ask whats up if you have a boat. I am going to try to go out tomorrow and see where the crappie are at, so if you want info, it will be on facebook as i fish. Seems to work better than the twitter thing!! Thanks and i will get the info together for the big bass tournament soon. sorry I haven't been posting. That wreck really messed up my neck. Guess I am getting to old.

Big Bass Tournament
Stockton Lake Guide Service replied to Stockton Lake Guide Service's topic in Stockton Lake
I am talking with some fisheries guys and others to determine what might be the best time. Anytime is good if everyone takes care of the fish, but we all know how that works out. Got a great lake and don't want to be messing that up!! -
Ruark was still frozen as of this afternoon 01/26. Mutton creek and north was all open water, and sons creek out from ruark was breaking up pretty good. should be looking good by this weekend as far as ice breaking up and melting, but if you are making a long drive, pick a ramp towards more open water to make your trip more fishing and less driving. Good luck!!

Big Bass Tournament
Stockton Lake Guide Service replied to Stockton Lake Guide Service's topic in Stockton Lake
I am going to get with some other people to try to help out. the 2 weigh locations might not be a bad idea if we can work it out. I will try to get some info together for everyone. The no July (or august) idea is probably a good one. Nothing worse than seeing a bunch of 5 lb fish floating around. -
getting any response?
-
I am wanting to find out how a big bass tournament would work out for stockton lake. Have several weigh in during day and one overall big bass. Not sure when people would want to do this, I would rather do it in the heat of july, but we can go with whatever. I am going to post some questions for you to answer and feel free to say whatever you want to say about doing this, even if you don't want to see it on stockton. let us know what you would be interested in and we will try to get somehtiung together!! should be a great year on the lake.

Thanks for checking on me. Concussions really stink, but I am going to force myself to go fishing in the morning. need some of them fresh crappie to get me going again. Car was a total loss, as was my memory for the past week. Hopefully have a good report for everyone tomorrow, but it will be later cause I'm not going to freeze until wed morning!!

I can't say that I have ever taken the time to confirm what I have always heard, but from my understanding these docks have to be repaired while in the water. If they are removed then they can't be put back. True or not, not 100 sure, but I'm still happy we don't have them like other lakes. I've heard they sold for around 10k, but that is still lots of money for the condition most of them are in, and that was one up at cc. Hope everyone had a great turkey day!! Time to get back to crappie and walleye fishing (and maybe a few bass in between) And the docks were put in after the lake was there, then they made a law to forbid them, but allowed the ones already there to stay. Like I said, I have never really confirmed all this, just what i have always heard.

Fishing Report, Friday, 3 December
Stockton Lake Guide Service replied to Fireflies's topic in Stockton Lake
Nice work and glad you caught some fish!! I haven't caught any that deep this fall but I didn't got the past few days so maybe they finally made a trip a little deeper. Walleyes always make a great dessert after a nice crappie dinner. -
the crappie are biting excellent in 10 foot of water on 1.16 oz jigs. color doensn't matter. fish the bluff eithter from the boat or from the bank. it is great fishing right now. chicken rock area, ruark bluff, shaw bluff. you can catch these fish. you will catch an occasional walleye in with them. if you want to go on a trip, let me knwo this week or first of next. i'm gone deer hunting the next weeek. lets make a deal or just give me a call for some advice Thanks Bob 6372277

Doin this from fone again... Walleye are on points in 10 to 12 foot of water hitting nightcrawler rigs and minnows. We only had 2 keepe today and about 3 short. Crappie were biting great. Had 38 keepers today and lots of shorts. Hitting jigs and minnows in 10 to 20 foot of water on brush and channel drops. had some great trips during the past week. Nice people and great fishing . Try to give more details later when I get to the computer and can type easier.

Benefit Tournament
Stockton Lake Guide Service replied to Thunderin Gobbler's topic in Stockton Lake
If you can have it on a saturday would be great. you need to make sure you don't conflict with hpata, central pro am, or any of the other area circuits you also need to get a date set pretty soon so people can get it on their schedule. Personally i start getting pretty booked up for march around the 1st of the year. I can advertise some on my website and have lots of contacts to try to get boats. OK, up way to late, good night. -
Benefit Tournament
Stockton Lake Guide Service replied to Thunderin Gobbler's topic in Stockton Lake
i would help out with whatever you needed. would love to fish it too, but ive got scales table etc for the tourny. just keep us updated on what dates your thinking about. go to mo water patrol website and look under the regatta page to see what other tournaments are coming up so you don't conflict. the winter bass brawl has some tournaments coming up so dont want to get on the same dates, theirs are on sundays. -
the most likely reason is that the thermocline is about that depth. the fish are suspended there feeding, as the water cools the thermocline will go shallow or go away. if you notice no fish are under about the 32-37 foot mark. not enough 02 to sustain fish. they will go deeper to feed then come back up. if you have ever set a deep trotline and went back to check and all the fish were dead, then perfect example. the fish were held below the thermocline and died from lack of oxygen. ok, i'm going back out on lake. crappie and walleye biting pretty decent, but going bass fishing (really watching someone else today because i got a cortisone shot in elbow) good luck!! ps. msstudent trying to be funny??? Thats good but come up with some good jayhawk jokes. we can all understand them better!!

water was about 73 and clarity was normal. water level was close to norm but I didn't check exact level walleye are mving shallower and can be caught in 15 foot and less on jigs and crawlers. either drift or troll them over the points at about 1mph. several fish are being caught this way so again, if you are having trouble, pick a coupld different points and work them hard. it's all about the confidence and getting a few bites, then you can load up the boat. Of course i always have a few open days to help you build your confidence, LOL, but it's a lot cheaper to just read it on here or call me. Crappie we had lots of them today in 20 foot and less on channel drops and brush piles on 1/16 oz jigs with black and chart bodies. verticle jig them and feel the light tap, then set the hook. remember it's a 10" limit so don't make a mistake and keep them short fish. it can be expensive and hurts future fishing. I think I have said this in the past few post but the mdc and corp did an awesome job putting in brush piles. Use them, Use them use them!!! The gps spots have been marked and you can download onto your unit. If you see me at the ramp I will try to get a few for humminbird and lowrance set up and see if i can't help some of you get this done. I sent a couple guys to one of them today and they had 6 keepers and lots of shorts in the first hour. bass are hitting jigs, spinnerbaits, and topwater in the backs of covers where they are chasing shad. been some fun fishing so again, move till you locate the fish but stay shallow and fish on spots that don't get all the pressure. catfsih are still on flats and are hitting shad. I've got a few weekdays open next week and the 11-13th off the next week. if someone is wanting to get the spots downloaded and go catch some crappie we can work out a deal for you. give me a call and we can talk. Good luck fishing and don't forget to post some results about how and where you catch your fish. Best lake in missouri, so I know people are ripping some fish without telling us.
