Been out a couple nights on the lower end of the lake the last week. Lots of boats out, hearing of a bunch of good fish being caught. Our best luck has come close to steep drops or points. Most fish coming on black jigs and pork. Caught a few but smaller ones one blue fleck power worms texas rigged. Heres a picture of the best catch of the week.

Awesome report! Thanks!

I caught a real nice and fat 22 incher last week, she weighed just over 6 on my scales, but who knows how reliable they are! Im going to try to attach a picture of her not sure if it will work.

I'll guess July 13, 2009.

I have had a coleman crawdad for about 12 years or so. I have fished many small creeks and rivers in arkansas out of it. It is perfect to paddle and manuevers as good as any canoe i have ever been in. I usually hook up a small trolling motor on the back and can cruise around pretty quick in it. Its about 12 feet long or so and has plenty of room for two guys and equipment. I believe they changed the newer model of this boat quite a bit and it has a lot more plastic molding in it, but the old ones are awesome for a small creek or pond boat. It is also pretty light, i can load and unload it out of the back of my truck by myself (took a little practice).

I picked up some 14lb. last fall at our walmart cause they were clearancing it off for $3 or $4 dollars so i thought i would try it. I usually use p-line but havent ever gave many of the trilene products a try. I have to say i really liked it and have bought a couple more spools of it at the regular price which i believe is about $8. I think it casts a little better and smoother than p-line, but probably not as resistant or durable against abrasion. Im by no means a line expert but i have been satisfied with it. I usually keep one or two rods spooled up with it and the others with either p-line original or floroclear.

great reports, cant wait to get out this weekend!

I dont guess we made it up that far, we were fishing more down around cricket creek mostly, we also fished a couple pockets back up towards the main lake, im hoping we get to make it back up this weekend, looks like the weather should be nice.

I fished the same area last Wed, Thurs, and Friday afternoons. Wed and Thurs did quite well on the wart and spinnerbait fairly shallow. Bite was tougher on friday with that front moving in, had to move a little deeper to get bit and did not find the same quality fish. Hopefully this weater we are getting today will get that shallow bite fired up again for later this week! We also caught a nice 14" meanmouth, he bit very aggresive on the wart.

I hope they are able to have this tournament this year! The money goes to a great cause and is a great chance to get some kids out on the water. Keep us posted if anyone hears any details!

Ok thanks fishinwrench..bad part about that is the reason i had the boat in the shop was to get it tuned up and get a new water pump in..so thats kind of a bummer. My motor is a 2005 Merc 150 xr6, Hopefully i can manage that new lower unit and be done with it!

Yeah i can tell just when i spin it with my hand that the prop shaft is out of balance. The boat wasnt in gear but im am going to make sure everything really gets checked over good. The gearcase housing is fine but the skeg is bent up pretty good. What is usually done in that situation, is the skeg easy to repair or will a new lower unit be a better option?

Thanks a ton Champ! I got my boat rear ended today and im hoping i can get it fixed and get back on the water pretty quick! Ill be sure to keep these things in mind when i make it over. I really appreciate it. Tight lines! Roy

Just picked the boat up from the shop today for a good tune up, and looks like im going right back in the morning. I got rear ended while slowing for traffic, thankfully no body was hurt but im not sure about the ole boat. The visual damage is the bottom of my keel is bent up pretty bad, and my prop is a little bent. I am surprised the trim seems to still be working fine. I couldnt tell that anything around the hitch area was bent or out of place, and i think the trailer is fine. Im sure my mechanic will do a great job on finding anything else wrong, but i was just curious on what else you guys thought might have been damaged (internaly). All i really know for sure is im probably going to need a new prop, and transom saver, but im pretty worried about the stuff inside the lower unit. What do you think? Roy

Going to have the opportunity to fish Beaver towards the end of the month/ start of Febuary. I have fished Table Rock and Bull Shoals all my life but never been on Beaver unless it was for stripers. Would really like to get in on some stickbait fish if the weather cooperates. If not im suspecting i will probably have to go with the jig or drop-shot. Is there ever much of a crankbait bite this time of year? Should i be expecting patterns and colors that work on the other white river lakes to produce on Beaver? Thanks for any advice. Roy

Rock Springs Tackle mentioned above does a great job on cleaning and oiling reels. They also have great prices on rods that they make. So if you are in the Harrison area give them a look.

Does anyone know much about this handheld GPS? Thinking about getting one for christmas. Is there another unit for about the same price ($170 at BPS) that you think would be better. I will be using this for fishing, and want something that can help me get around better and maybe mark a few spots. Thanks for any advice!

Does anyone know anything about the tournament off the old 86 bridge ramp?
-
Does anybody know of any tournaments down more towards the long creek area, thats the area of the lake im more familiar with and dont really want to run anywhere else at night. Thanks

Thanks for the info, might try to make it up!

Thanks for all the good ideas..i should have been more specific..i was fishing on lake atkins which is in central arkansas and is pretty muddy so i dont think swimming or diving would have much luck. The story is we were fishing out of a small flatbottom and we flipped it when my friend lost his balance. We lost 6 rods and reels and all our takcle. We managed to get back all the rods except for the one i mentioned above(and this was the first time i had ever fished with it. And i found all the tackle but one box. I may try to go back and try to drag a stringer and see what i come up with. Im pretty sure i cleared all the snags today when i was dragging this big metal hook on a rope.

I lost my brand new quantum energy pt reel today over board. Its in about 10 to 12 feet and i know pretty close to were it should be. Anybody know any good tricks to get it back. All i can think of is to pull a crankbait over it. or i was wondering if anyone knows if a magnet might pick it up. Im gonna go back in the morning and try to get it.

Had a great fishing trip this weekend. Couldnt get anything going so about an hour before dark we tied on wigglewarts and started fishing shallow chunk rock. Fish were in 5 to 10 foot of water. A fish of a lifetime broke my brother off at the boat i was about 2 feet from netting it. We caught about ten keepers and had 3 over 4 pounds. This was in the longcreek area with very stained water.
