  1. I know, that 's first thing I'm looking for, but no sign of it.
  2. It's upstream from Blair. You can see the isand from the bridge. Only thing I can think of was the current pulled the outfit under the over bank or something. Jedi's paddle took off like a shot. We couldn't spot it and asked a few people about it. The only 'Falls' I know of are at ROLF. We usually walk around it. Guess we're rookies still, canoe-wise...
  3. Thanks man, it was pretty good day until then. We had soft rain, then comfortable temp's, river was up a little, no color change.
  4. (From Sunday, 05 August) Not a bad day until the Jedi and I flipped his canoe at the island above Blair Bridge. Lost my 9' TFO 5WT w. Orvis Battenkill 5/6 reel, brown foam hopper/Rainbow warrior dropper on it. We looked and looked, no luck. Jedi lost a paddle and we had to get our composure back after this. Left this description with Amy at Sunburst. Kyle or Brian or whoever, it's on the left in the fast riffle, shouldn't have taken that course. Jedi did well and he landed quite a few small rainbows with par marks, good things for next year. My highlight was landing a beautiful 'bow on the same foam hopper on the lost rod/reel. Probably a long shot, but maybe it will turn up. I appreciate the effort if you happen to be drifting thru there.
  5. Hey Justin I sent you a message about Sunday.
  6. Love the POV shots. My fishing bud had the same thing las weekend, lotsa tricos on top and lotsa 'bows landed. I would agree, it's too hot to wear waders.
  7. Great post, sounds like an awesome trip. Gavin's right, it becomes more and more important...just saying.
  8. Thanks Justin. Doing any hopper drifting?
  9. This has probably been posted already, but I'm too lazy to search. We usually put in at Kelly, but want to float farther down this time. Kinda hate to pass up water above Blair. Any place in between? Thanks.
  10. Whew! Straining that spin rod, and fighting in the net, nice video!
  11. Awesome pics, and good job on landing the brown. That fight must have been something. Really liking the pink hopper in the pic. Nice work guys!
  12. Highly rated, especially the Beech Nut sequence...a genuine, gritty quality so lacking in many fly fishing films... Digging the sweep over the fly boxes and the nice brown landed. Good work OK boys!
  13. Go pink hoppers!
  14. Can't wait for the pics!
  15. Awesome report! Nothing like the fish rising to the foam!
  16. Nice! Hoping to head down in less than 2 weeks. Looks like a small indicator. What fly, if I may ask?
  17. Nice report, Phil landed a big NFW 'bow on a jig last year or two years ago I believe.
  18. That's what I'm talking about! Great report.
  19. That's great, bringing the Clacka? Not going to ID until before Labor Day. Hopefully the trout will still be on. Plan to do both stream and lake.
  20. Thanks Chance. That Chubby in the pic wore out after that fish, lazy tying on my part. Trying to get ready for heading out west to visit my sons, panhandle of Idaho...cutty city...
  21. The riffle was 3-4', nice seam in between the faster water on both sides of it. Hung the nymph down about 3.5 ft., but the brown took it at the end of the drift in slower, shallower water. In retrospect I should have dropped a smaller rubber legs under. I tried CJs and other attractor nymphs. That's the rub with this rig, not a quick adjust for depth.I was hoping for more action on top, but was great.
  22. Thanks guys. It was awesome watching the browns come up and eat the foam. Almost as cool watching them check out the different flies.
  23. Headed to the Islands above Patrick Saturday AM. First time for this excursion, so I drove through the camp ground and noticed someone had beaten me, no big deal. Found my way down the trail and got out of the woods above the fisherman at the islands. Moved up the riffle upstream, nice water. Tactic was to drop nymphs below a hopper or foam attractor of some sort. Went thru 3 different hoppers with no luck until I settled for the yellow/olive one in the pic. Quite a thrill to see this stocker come up and hit the hopper. Had 4 four fish check out various hoppers/chubby chernobyls including the one who took the gold chubby. The big brown measured out at 17". He took a PT w. soft hackle collar, copper BH, under a hopper. He tried to play 'soft' with me to get off. I put the TFO to him and he started the fight. I knew it was too warm to over fight him so I landed him quickly, lifted him quick for the pic and released. He held for a bit and cruised off. It was a great trip to me because I broke the slump I've had on this river, and a great treat landing two on top. Maybe this drought will help this sort of fishing. I noticed a lot of hoppers on a grass/gravel bar, and heading into Sunburst to have lunch. Had my sandwich with Justin and some of the crew. Weather was nice until 11 or so, cloudy, cooler.
  24. Parker water was slow and low several weeks ago. We moved up to Baptist and did fairly well, but that was like 4 weeks ago. Fishing is tough now until sustained rain and/or cooler temp's.
  25. I hear that. Only have 1 landed Cutt to my name, 3 yrs. ago back in WA on the Yakima. Heading to ID panhandle in Aug. to visit Son #2 and hopefully land a few big ones, maybe even a Bull Trout.
