  1. There was a fella on eBay that was selling used wooden Chase bobbins 5 for $25. Might try there.... You can also go to this site, www.joesoldlures.com and click to open the forum page link. Make a request at the bottom of the page for Chase Fly Tying Bobbin Wanted... probably can find a new one in the box for relatively reasonable pricing. good luck - Brian

  9. I use a pair of half finger Simms Windbloc Fleece gloves. They were like $35 years ago. They work great and will shake out to dang near dry after being submerged.
  10. I am not sold on that one way bearing found in those and many other reels. If it isn't totally 100% sealed, a guy going to Michigan could be risking his first or second ever landed steelhead because there was some sand in the bearing which caused it to slip-spin. Allen does have a new reel out called the Kraken priced around $200 with a sealed drag... but I doubt it would have a dog style clutch like this or this or this : To each his own... but you can't bring a knife to gunfight. Me, I would rather know I have a proven fly reel, like the original Harris Solitude mentioned, for those steelies. (But that reel cannot be changed from right to left hand retrieve.... what a design flaw if you ask me).
  11. Wow! Very impressive work. Can't wait to see this thing ready for its maiden voyage.
  12. I remember a guy who found a Corvette fiberglass kit at an auto parts store and used that for a couple dings. It worked like a champ. Just do not know if they still make it and how much it is.
  13. I used a Pate Salmon on the PM. That reel can take just about anything. (especially $ out of your wallet)
  14. mic - you can look up my name (which is spelled wrong) in that book in the back. I called the company and they sent me a signed copy for free. Nice of them, huh. Seeing as how they lifted my dialogue from a forum post in 1998.
