NO horn at 3pm today - water up fast
Brian K. Shaffer replied to Brian K. Shaffer's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
My pal Norbert shouldn't have to fear for his life for no reason while fly fishing below the dam. People were there - and they had to rescue this man from nearly going into the river. What if they were not there ? We all take risks. -

On the trail above the ramp - is another horn stack - making 2 total. People before Power. -
The water came up fast at 3:00pm with no horn. Zero warning to anyone. People were down there fishing. All of a sudden - WATER. Below the dam at the gate is a button to speak to an operator - I told the operator and they are making a trouble report..

5 mega watt flow - 1,750cfs ( and DO levels)
Brian K. Shaffer replied to Brian K. Shaffer's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
The tour guide showed you the in-house unit - the 1 of 2 in house small turbines that power the lights of the dam itself. ________________________________________ Pretty sure the 20cfs for Taneycomo when the units are off is counting the water released by that in house unit. also take into consideration the spill out from the hatchery outflows - they don't count that -

The flow WAS significant ~right at the bank even~ and the fish WERE mostly pointing upstream! Checking just now - its back to 0 cfs. -
