  8. I thought the fishing was oretty good today. I caught only a few fish.. but I fished a few new patterns I am kind of having fun fishing with. I started with a dry / Griffiths Gnat in size 12. Caught a few, but the wind chop made it tough to always see it because of wave action. Then I went to a size 18 midge with a size 24 dropper. I didnt catch a single fish on either of these patterns Then I went to a Chocolate CDC Midge emerger -- and fooled a few bigger fish. I could see the little CDC sticking up pretty good.. so it made it more like fishing a dry. Several fish took the fly a split second after the bug hit the surface. There were trout rising like crazy.. really good from 3pm til around 4:30.. then it sort of went soft.. so I split. Carolyn Parker of River Run slayed the fish.. right above me - and below me - she caught 3 to my every one. I think she mentioned she was using a soft hackle.. then later a dry and a dropper. Besides the mention of some showers.. I might just have to fishing again tomorrow too! screaming reels - Brian
  9. This is the Griffin 1A vise.. a perfect vise for the entry level tier, one that will be a backup for years if you ever decide to replace it. You will be very happy to tie on such a great vise, something better than the totally entry level Sunrise which loses hooks in the first few attempts. The Griffin 1A is the staple vise in the industry. Shipped to you for $32 flat USPS Priority Mail - lower 48 states. email me direct at ozrkflyfisher@wmconnect.com happy tying - Brian
  10. I betcha its off T highway at T32a / Taneycomo Woods. Thats my guess. Will we ever know ? best fishes - Brian
  11. It might be a pain in the butt to do this - but it works. Make a loop then put the shot on this loop and close it tight. This way you have a ring of line around the shot.. holding it put. If it comes off.. it just opens up the loop and you can replace the shot. This way is easier... but more time consuming. Clip off the line where you want the shot.. retie it on with a double surgeons knot and put the shot above the knot. The first way is how I do it - Brian
  12. Brian, Where can I find Stanleys Ice Off? I have an extra new one.. you want it ? $5 shipped to you jdavis. Apply it to your line the night before.. this stuff is awesome! best fishes - Brian

  17. I have learned from nearly 8 years of fishing Taneycomo that you can never go by what the suggested prediction on what they are going to run... as they turn water on, after all.. as I am sure you know - strictly by power demand. I do not know Powersite though at all.. is it on the same link to Taney and Bull and the Fork ? I have come to conclusion they run when they have money to be made, and only then. Keep me posted on this thread how you do figuring out the water there in the coming weeks. screaming reels - Brian
  18. I gotta agree.. this fly looks deadly.. and with your pics and recipe - it looks pretty uncomplicated! Thanks for your post.. and keep 'em coming! best fishes - Brian
  19. I'll say it like this.. you shouldnt have any trouble finding fish. Take some off-the-wall stuff too.. like size 10 dries and micro eggs in size 20 to drop off. good luck - Brian

  22. I am downtown, and at 3pm it started coming down like crazy. Then again at 4 it started as heavier snow than before then switched to a little sleet like snowball. They started to cover just a little bit - then it just quit. Very pretty snowflakes.. some of them very big.. perhaps quarter size in diamteter. They would hit the concrete and just shatter. I just wished we have gotten like 6 inches of it. Anybody get out in it today ?? screaming reels - Brian
  23. I've got an old article from 1998 on night fishing in the Lake Tanetcomo artricles at the top of this L/T section. Here is a link if anyone is lazy : Night Fly Fishing Guide Trip Article If it not too cold - I might see ya down there.. and I'll bring the Stanleys Ice Off paste to keep the guides from freezing up to bad. (do not use Chapstick.. it'll clog the tiny pores of the fly line ) best fishes - Brian
  24. Thread and fluff is all it really is if you don't want to get to complicated on the RS2. Use deer hair or moose for the tail... just watch your proportions... as it is that makes the fly. LESS IS BETTER than more.. write that down. The RS2 is a goldmine of a pattern.. check this out below : RS2 HOME SITE happy tying - Brian
  25. One of the SPGF DEPT guys (Jason) told me it was snowing good down there this morning, err.. Friday morning. 7am'ish or so.. he said was coming down a little.. I totally missed that as I was snoozing. But by 10am.. it was nice, a little brisk with the wind.. but still nice. I guess I did decent enough.. perhaps I caught my share as I expected. Dries are fooling fish like crazy I will try to make it down for the Saturday morning snow.. but i aint checked the weather yet.. and if you live here in Branson, you know - the weather forecasters are wrong more than they are right. best fishes - Brian
