  1. Yes thanks Bill & Phil for the seminar!
  2. Jeb - Did not get your email, I'll shoot you one.
  3. I have had good luck with the BassPro XPS lipless crankbaits (similar to a rattle trap) for LM and white bass. I haven't tried any of their other baits so that's about all I can comment on.
  4. OK, well hopefully the MIL will give you a pass.
  5. Schedule is clear, I am going, anyone interested in riding along, let me know, we can meet at the Walmart parking lot in Jane MO (just across the line on US 71) and go from there. I estimate it's about 1 HR 45 mintes from there.
  6. I agree that the right thing to do is to close the access from the canal to the lake. Of course the barge owners would squeal and holler, but the answer to them should be, we have a problem, help us solve it and when it's solved we can reopen the access to the lake. If the energy and time spent squealing to the politicians was spent on solving this issue, we'd already have it fixed by now. We need an invasive species czar that can act to solve the problem and have the full powers to implement the solution. Otherwise we're always going to be held hostage by special interests who could care less about what swims in the water as long as they can make money.
  7. I understand how you feel, Bill. I was happy that they took Beaver out of the FLW tour. I don't have anything against big time tourneys, I just don't like them on the lake I fish The weekend that it is on, I just stay away. But they do have a positive economic effect on the local retaurants and hotels, and I like to watch them on TV, and it's interesting to see what they use. I guess it's a love/hate relationship as far as I'm concerned.
  8. Nice fish Jessary! What did you get it on?
  9. Back in the day the Who were great. But I hope they retire after this. I can't figure out why they keep bringing in geriatric bands, is the majority of the audience 50+? I guess they figure the last thing the old guys will do is take their clothes off.
  10. Or move the Olympics donw here!
  11. For those who are interested: http://stopasiancarp.com/
  12. I bought some Netcraft painted suspending (100 size) stickbait bodies. All you need are some #2 split rings and treble hooks of your choice, size #4 recommended. Get a good pair of split ring pliers also, BassPro has an offset, narrow nose split ring pliers that work, in my opinion, better than the traditional needle nose style, with smaller split rings. Anyway you just attach the rings, attach the hooks, and maybe put a split ring on the nose to tie your line to and you are good to go, takes about 5 minutes per bait. What I don't know is how well these stickbaits will work vs something like a Spro McStick, but I'll give them a try this spring.
  13. Thanks for the report, I've heard that the crappie are looking like they are making a comeback on Grand.
  14. Wow, you would think that with shad that thick there would be some stripers or walleye around at least. I might go up the War Eagle arm next weekend if the weather is half decent, whites and stripers should be moving up there soon.
  15. I should know better, as cold as it is, but I went out today for a few hours, mainly fished mid lake flats and points, hoping I might find some stripers as I wasn't eve n going to try for Largemouth. Did not even get one bite. Shad are dying, every once in a while I would see one come up top on it's side. Lots of terns on the lake know scarfing the shad. Saw a few eagles. Water temp was 36 degrees. I am ready for spring, according to the weather forecast we have at least another week of cold weather on the way.
  16. I got the hard cover from Cabelas, but not from BPS. I suppose if I ever sat down and added up the money I spend on fishing (Boat, rods, reels, lures, gas, boat launch fees, maintenance, rain gear, hats, insurance, registration, etc) and divided that by the number of fish caught, well I bet those fish are pretty expensive.
  17. And it should be noted that SM bass don't do very well in the cold water discharge put out by the dams, if the trout weren't there, there would not be much if anything to fish for. Wayne, I agree with you, we need to find a way to get the commercial fishermen to net those darn carp.
  18. Hey Fishincricket - I hope it works out for you, good luck!
  19. Thanks Champ, I'll check it out.

    Birds

Those are great shots, the colors on that heron really stand out against the rock background. The geese photo is pretty cool too, and eagles are always awesome.
  21. Maybe he bought a bunch before Rapala took over, I have seen boards posts where guys have said they went out and loaded up on the pre-Rapala warts. There are some folks out there that really love those warts. You can still get the pre-Rapala warts on Ebay, but the popular colors get bid up pretty high. I'm suprised Rapala does not just copy the old manufacturing method for warts and use the old paint styles, they could label them "classic" warts, I would think they could sell quite a few. Here's another link to an Ebay wart auction, 3 USED classic warts, already at $36.00 with several days to go. http://cgi.ebay.com/3-OLD-STOCK-STORM-WIGGLE-WARTS-3-8-oz-V209-CRAWDAD_W0QQitemZ320483795226QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4a9e52a11a
  22. My registration runs out at the end of this month for my boat. Will the DMV send me a renewal form? Or do I need to go down to one of thier offices to get a renewal? Seems to me that if they were going to send me a renewal notice I should have gotten it by now.
  23. Speaking of which, he happens to have some listed, it doesnot look like a hot pattern to me, but the guy seems to always get a good price for them. http://cgi.ebay.com/4-Pre-Rapala-Storm-Wiggle-Wart-In-Bandit-Spring-Craw_W0QQitemZ300393248763QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item45f0d537fb
  24. 97, I'll keep that in mind. There's a guy that sells the pre-rapala wiggle warts on Ebay, he paints them with what he calls a "Spring Craw" pattern, they get bid way up, I've seen them go for $30 each.
  25. Yeah I would like to get out, I haven't been out in a few weeks. But still looking a little too chilly for my whimpy butt.
