Beaver Tailwater Brown Trout Tagging From 2020 to 2024, the Trout Management Program tagged 1,104 Brown Trout in Beaver Tailwater with Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tags. When we recapture tagged Brown Trout during sampling events, we scan them for tags and record GPS locations. The map below shows the locations of the 99 Brown Trout we recaptured from electrofishing during the study. Bright red represents higher numbers of recaptures, and dark blue represents lower numbers of recaptures. Even though we sampled downstream of the Highway 62 Bridge, we did not recapture any tagged Brown Trout below Spider Island. Although our annual population samples typically show higher catch rates of Brown Trout from the Dam to Campground C than other parts of the river, we recaptured most tagged fish between the Parker Bend and Bertrand accesses. Ultimately, we will use data from this tagging project to evaluate the success of our current fishing regulations on Beaver Tailwater.

Last I knew, Hook Line and Sinker here in Bella Vista will repair rods. You have to drop it off and wait a few days.

Saw this on another forum. Looks like he plans to do every state park in Texas, including the trails in each. the hobo traveler – Photos and information about the state parks of Texas

Here you go Rick, buy a pair of these and you can put that snow blower away. I believe Boomgaars carries them.
-
It's a balmy 19 here this morning.
-
+2 here this AM. Certainly, better than the -14 predicted a few days ago. How about those NFL playoffs? Seahawks vs Pats in the Super Bowl. Would not have predicted those 2 teams at the start of the year.
-
Well it is 2 degrees right now. Cold for sure, but better than the -14 that was predicted a few days ago.
-
Did not get the predicted snowfall amounts here either, mainly because it was sleet instead. Maybe 6 inches total, with 3 of that being sleet.

He looks like he's mad at the world. I've got a couple of burning bush plants right out in front of the window where I sit when I'm on my computer. Every year a pair of cardinals nest in one of those bushes. They spend the rest of the year hanging around.

Thanks Brett, bring stuck in the house for a few days it is great to have some fishing to watch.

10 degrees in NWA this morning. Only 2-3 inches of snow so far. I'm not even thinking of going fishing, but I might watch a couple of fishing shows.
-
BTW - Still seeing blue sky here. It's a big hoax created by the weather forecasters. No way will it snow.

That's awesome Ness - great pics! I regret not taking many pics back in my bird hunting days.

Did not have my phone with me, and even if I did, I'd be worried that it might set the monkey off.

I know how much you guys love monkeys. Yesterday morning I'm at the self-checkout at the Jane MO WalMart, they've got the checkout island deals where there are 4 checkouts, 2 pairs side by side. There's a gal checking out on the one across from me, has a sling of some kind over her shoulder that has some sort of critter in it - I look expecting to see some kind of little dog, but it's not...it's a monkey. It's not a chimp or a baboon, but one of the other types. And it's wearing some kind of baby outfit. It never moved much, but it was looking at me, and I kept an eye on it in case it jumped out and went nuts - I don't trust monkeys. And I did not want to see myself in the local news, I can see it now: .Arkansas man gets in fight with monkey at local WalMart. There are firsts in life and this is the first time I have seen a monkey at WalMart. An emotional support monkey?

Bird hunting was great in the snow. Where we hunted pheasants in WA, after the first two weeks in the season they'd do nothing but run on you and it was next to impossible to get close enough to one to shoot it. But when it snowed, they'd hold, the dogs could find them and it was like opening day all over again. Had to be right after a good snow, if you waited a week, the birds would have it figured out. Quail and chukar would hold better too. But that was 25 years ago and I was in a lot better shape. It was great hunting but slogging through a foot of snow all day would wear you out.

Thankfully there are football playoff games to watch Sunday. I tell you, if I didn't have an elderly mother I need to stay in the area for, I'd find a place to stay in south Florida for the next 2 weeks.
-
That's a nasty critter for sure. Looks like something out of a sci-fi movie.

Way to go Les! That's some good fishing!

Casting those light jigs is where it's useful, but the guys fished with at Taney that used 2 lb. leader used braided mainline, but I think I remember them saying it was 3 lb. braid. Fished with Milo in the trophy section, he was mainly throwing jerk baits, but picked up his jig outfit with that light line and caught 5 trout on 5 casts, I was throwing 1/8 oz jigs and catching one just every once in a while. Maybe it was coincidence, or a fluke, but in that short time frame the light line and 1/16th oz jig was king. Later that day we fished below the catch and release area where we found concentrations of fresh off the truck rainbows. They did not care about weight of jig or size of line. I'm in the camp of it's not the visibility but the castability and presentation of lighter line that makes a difference. 4 lb. test is my threshold, I go no lighter than that. If people are whacking them with 2 lb. test and I'm not, then I will be happy to be their net boy.
