I too have "Loch Leven" Blood in my Veins, However; I'm proud to say "NO LOCH LEVEN BLOOD ON MY HANDS" Nine point Streamers (stick-baits) for the KILL! Catch and Release FTW!!! No matter what size. JMHO You eat the Lock Leven trout my Son, and I release. How sad Why not just go to the park to get your meat Gavin???????? Don't they eat better than Big Old Loch Levens?

I guess your just special Gavin:-) I just happen to disagree with your opinion. Gavin says, "Most of those anglers will never have more than a random chance at any of the better fish down there." Who are "those" Anglers Gavin? All of us? If what you say then is true, The Currents larger fish can only be caught by you, and your gang. Perhaps you can help us? To be like you. I'm just grateful we have the Current River to fish.

Nice fish men. SMILE :) :) :) Catching Fish is FUN! I love all my trout that I catch. They make me happy, lol. Because I usually fish solo, I don't get many pics of me. My fish smile at me, I smile back then release them all. I find if I smile, I make the Trout happy, and will catch him or her again. I am haunted by large Loch Leven Trout.

:D I didn't do it. I have been a very nice scud. The word "Knucklehead" made me laugh. What is a knucklehead? Are we all knuckleheads? At least once? LOL Ok my comment. What I feel happened, there was just too many F%$i@# f*&h$#R#$n!!!!! Once the park is open, one must expect a multitude of anglers, below the "PARK"....BUT: There are more fish!!!! JMHO.. I prefer less fish... less anglers.... So I walk until I hit the NAZ... "NO ANGLER ZONE". Sometimes many miles of current River. I loves me Solitude B)

NOW THAT'S A FIRE I bet once that got going it would produce heat for hours. Hey Gavin, what was in that Browns Gut? Hurts to see one of those nice Browns dead. I know its legal. Was that your 24 incher? They should let people keep the rainbows to eat. Then there would be more room for Big Brown Trout. LOL attn: New 2010 Current River limit change... Three Rainbows, and only one over 18". Release all Brown Trout. Then after a few years of protecting the browns (with armed agents) let them keep one Brown over 22". I don't know why MO conservation calls an 18" a trophy. That's just a nice fish. A trophy to me is 8lbs and above. A 22" limit would make the Current River Rule even more.jmho

Hello, Thank you Gavin for the Dale Carnegie info. He is a great writer. I did not eat my hat either. We fished upper Current below Montauk, and below Tan vat. Sat and Sun. all the cars at Tan Vat kinda freaked me out. But realized they were not bank anglers, cuz we saw NO FISHERMAN. Now if I were to have taken your advise and go way below Baptist, we may have run into your camp Because when we (my son and I) go below baptist we usually go below Ashley creek to the MBZ. MID BLUFF ZONE. It's a long walk but usually get nice Browns. It's about the same distance if you walk up from Parkers. But I new you all would be in that area, so thanks for sharing your plans. Sunday was great. Caught some nice bows in the snow. Almost every Fly I presented RIGHT got bit. My son kicked my butt as usual The snow made it so much better, wasn't much, but made it even more peaceful. Sure didn't want to leave. I even fished the Spring Branch in the park. It was actually a blast. We had the branch to ourselves, and caught nice fish on a variety of lil stuff. 22-24 midges etc. The cold made it a lil tough to work with the 6x and 7x. Looks like your group did well. Great way to start the New Year. Scudz

Hello, I think Gavin is trying the old crowded scare tactic. It won't work on me and my son. We will be camping in tent no heat. So if its crowded I will Eat my hat. Fly Fishing in teens and 20's is tough. Why would you say that? Crowded.. what is crowded to you??? And to say don't go below bAPTIST CAMP LOL? Why? so you can have it alone? If I see you below baptist and 2 other anglers I will give you 20.00. What do you consider crowded? 2-3 anglers??? To me crowded is anyone but me and my son. So don't let his scare tactic stop anyone. Anyway have fun, stay warm, start early and fish all day till dark. Happy New Year!

Hello, My son and I will honor our New Years Day tradition. We will fish the Current Friday, sat, Sunday. Will be cold in the Tent. The highs are in the 20's My goal is one nice BROWN. I always enjoy my winter outings. The current can actually fish great when its real cold. 2009 has been a tough year on the current. Even though my son caught a 24" by 18" girth Male Hook-Jaw Rainbow. Around 8lbs, but the Brown size has been smaller for us anyway. And seems to be not as many fish. lol I'm getting old. Well don't think there will be many other anglers. So if we don't Git it Done..Won't be able to blame it on that Happy New Year! Scudz

There is no right or wrong way to fish. There is only the way that makes you happy. In complete honesty I can say that fish catching is not the reason why I fly fish. Fly Fishing has provided me with more feelings of serenity, and peace in a chaotic world. I'm sure you can attempt to understand why I might get upset about those using a message board to guide people. We all can admit that however long we have fly fished, or lure fished, that there is always something that we can learn from our fishing experience that connects us all. If we insist on crowding the river with human bodies then we must learn how to respect the fellow angler. We all share this love and passion for the outdoors yet we are constantly trying to separate ourselves from each other by labeling anglers a certain way. I don't judge a fisherman by how many fish he or she may catch. I respect every individual who is concerned with the sacredness of nature. I'm open to giving every drop of fishing knowledge I possess to anyone willing to put the numbers of fish aside and find joy in the whole experience of nature and her infinite gifts. Gifts which she is constantly giving seem more real on a trout stream. So respect the fellow angler since he is just trying to witness the beauty. If I'm a "snob" then so be it. I grew up on the current. Now I can't fish it because of the crowds. Hopefully we have a frigid winter. This isn't father it is the sun.
