  1. Did you notice if there are a bunch of shad near the bank that a guy vould easily get with a cast net? Maybe if I can get a turkey tomorrow morning I will meander up to Bagnell to try for some blue cats Sunday.
  2. That's the best way to go when you head to Bagnell. There is usually always something that will bite for a guy up there. It just may not be what you originally hoped for.
  3. Sounds like it's game on up there right now! Hope you wack em good Friday!
  4. Threw jigs for crappie on 4/18 and we ended up with 16 keeper crappie and one nice walleye. The bite was decent up till about 7 and then it just shut down. We spent most of the day Friday up there as well but had minnows this time. We ended up with 45 keeper crappie and one white bass and the bite died off about 7 again just like the day before. Minnows below a slip bobber 10-15' deep as well as black/pink and anything with orange were our best producers. I think we counted 30 boats at one point on Friday in the dead channel all fishing for crappie. Combat fishing at it's finest! The fish were biting though so it wasn't too bad.
  5. I wonder if any of the made it to springfield dam with this recent high water? Snagging down river ain't been worth a toot and they weren't way up the river either so they had to of been somewhere in between.
  6. We went Saturday and couldn't find any fish. The Missouri came up almost 12 foot and backwatered the Osage. I've never had any luck when it has been like that. I marked a lot of fish between the powerlines near the bottom that I thought for sure were spoonbill but we could never hit anything to find out.
  7. $5 a day or $30 or $35 for the year
  8. I have a Humminbird 728 sonar unit and bought an AS GRP gps puck for it but later realized that it isn't currently compatible until Humminbird releases software version 6.300 for this unit. It's currently at 6.250. Instead of waiting for the software update, I would like to find somebody who would be willing to trade their working AS GR50 for my new AS GRP puck since the older 50 channel puck will work fine on my unit. You need a unit that has software version 6.300 or higher for the AS GRP puck to be recognized and work.
  9. Next time I get skunked I'll be sure to tell everybody it was because I was bbqing...... Was the water still up and dirty or has it started clearing up some?
  10. I like fishing up there when the water is flow is medium to light. When it's ripping like this I don't have enough trolling motor to stay up there anyways. I've seen a few paddlefish caught on the left side of the darn before but all I've ever done is lose hooks and lead. I've caught some decent hybrids and kentuckies along the wall near the chute side but it was during light generation. I've never caught anything up there when it was ripping along like it has been.
  11. Good to hear that! I fried up some of that spoony I landed the other day and boy was it good! Them lower Osage fish make up in taste what they lack in size compared to the Tablerock fish.
  12. I'll have to take you up on that sometime. Walleye is my favorite fish to eat but probably the one I know the least about catching. Anytime we catch one it's just blind luck while fishing for hybrids usually.
  13. I had the biggest with a 39 incher. It was so skinny though that I bet it only weighed 25 pounds. It's one of the longest ones I have caught on the lower Osage. My buddies boat doesn't have a graph so I didn't ge an updated temp. Another buddy went earlier in the day and said that the river was still in 42-44 range and the Maries was well in to the 50's. We just fished the mouth of the Maries because the current was too swift to fish anywhere else. White was the best color. I think we only caught one or two on chartreuse. Crankbaits caught the nicer fish and the swimming minnows and grubs caught a few more but smaller fish.
  14. Guy I am friends with on Facebook participated. I'll link up a few of the pics he took. Looks like the winner's won $4700. Not a bad pay day for shooting some some nasty ol carp. Check out that carp on the right on the second to last picture. That thing is a beast!
  15. Pretty much the same as my last report. Nice weather and soso fishing for hybrids. We did catch a good number of small blacks. They were chasing small baitfish around along the bank in the Maries. We also snagged for a bit and caught 3 spoonbill and three small gar. Water was really ripping. Lots of boats out enjoying the the awesome weather.
  16. Those high water years ruin the normal years for us snaggers lol. My buddy caught a silly amount of spoonbill up there towards the dam during his last few years at college down there a few years ago. A little birdy told me that a bunch of them have ran above Galena already but they are stalling out due to water levels. If it makes another big rise then they should be catchable in any decent hole from Springfield darn on down to Galena.
  17. If the wind aint too ridiculous Saturday I may head up there again. Ill give an updated report if I do.
  18. Ive beat that spot to death and never had much luck. My buddy has got some good ones there though when the water was ripping. Ive only caught them well along the lock once a few years ago when there wasnt a bunch of current. They were all along the dam that day and we had a ball!
  19. Banjo minnows and flying lures did actually catch some fish at times. I came across a yellow helicopter lure somehow when I was you ger a d fished it to death in my uncles lake. Im not sure I ever landed a tish on it and that lake is over lolulated with 10-12" starving bass that eat anything!
  20. The james river arm from Flat Creek up to McCords Bends.
  21. Dad and I went down to Gasconade City last year in early march on warm day and caught a pile of crappie and bass just dipping the brush piles along the mud banks. I think we only had 7 or 8 crappie worth keeping but it was a fun day to just catch a bunch of fish anyways. They are snagging a few paddlefish and a bunch of carp near the Missouri right now I've heard.
  22. I don't have a clue about walleye. We've only caught a few while fishing for hybrids over the years. The hybrids are there but they aren't biting real great. The water is still 45-46 degrees in the river and about 50 in the Maries. If it gets up in to the mid 50 range then the bite should improve though.
  23. Tossed swimmin minnows and crankbaits today and ended up with 9 small hybrids up to 2.5lbs, four blacks, a slab 14.5" crappie, and snagged a 20# asian carp. Hybrids were in one small stretch of water and I'm sure we could have caught more if we stayed there. We were just out having fun so we decided to go for a ride down to the Missouri and see what else we could find. Only fish I caught down towards the Missouri was that carp. Snagged him in the side on a crankbait. It was fun landing him on bass tackle. Did see one boat with a barely legal spoonbill and a couple tails at the boat ramp. If the water flow stays at the current level and the water warms up another 5 degrees or so I would imagine the spoonbill would start running to the lock and stacking up. Seems everytime the conditions are right and they start catching them, I don't get there in time before they crank up generation and they make it over the lock.
  24. duckydoty, you ain't missing much especially when you are right by Taneycomo! The only reason I fish at Meramec is becauase it's so close.
  25. tho1mas said it perfect. My girlfriend is t a big fiah eater and even she loves white bass!
