  1. I got a feeling ducky's just getting started...
  2. As to hops -- I'm on the other end of the scale. I prefer the malt side of things generally. A citrusy finishing hop is nice in some cases, but bitter isn't my thing. As for home brewing, I've moved more towards ciders the last few years. They're easier to make and appeal to more folks. They're pretty refreshing too, unlike most beers.
  3. Well it doesn't look too hard or expensive to plug some logs and get several years of mushrooms. I'd bet there are more efficient ways to get honey than owning bee hives too. Part of the fun is in doing it yourself, right?
  4. Yeah, McDonald sure screwed things up. Made them into a pop band. That's when I left and joined up with Christopher Cross. Chicks really dug him.
  5. The better to prime with....
  6. Sweet! That bald eagle sure sat still for you!
  7. Thanks -- that's helpful Anybody else eat these things? You can buy plugs here.
  8. Yeah -- we haven't gotten the rain we were promised here. It's 70-something out there now...
  9. So Justin -- how was the soup/mushroom? You're still posting, so that's a good sign, I've never had one, but was looking online for growing mushrooms at home and those look pretty easy to do and produce year after year.
  10. Where all the reports at? They're up according to multiple sources.
  11. I've known wrench since the early 70's, when we were roadies for the Doobie Brothers. He's a far out dude. You all will dig him if you ever catch him on the flip side.
  12. Not fair! Let him finish cleaning up his post
  13. mFmu Who doesn't love wrench???? I mean, who? I guess over time I've grown to understand 'ol MFU and don't bristle at his occasional indiscretion. It's always based in solid logic or humor. That sometimes is a slippery slope, buy, hey, this is the internet.
  14. Nah -- it was MFU that Bassin' Bob called out. Wrench dodged a bullet there. Anyhoo -- this thread got stoopid pretty quick. Hoglaw -- go gentle, but go git 'em!
  15. Lighten up, Francis. My yard has sure greened up, but not much else around here. Redbuds are just starting to pop, first spear of asparagus has poked its head out. I'll probably hit a spot close by here today, but my hopes aren't too high. How are the bees making out?
  16. Adaptation?
  17. Dang! This is interesting stuff -- any pictures on any of this would be greatly appreciated.
  18. Almost all would be my guess
  19. had a great day yesterday -- got a new shirt from the Gap, and found the mother lode:

I'm pretty deep in town. They've been in the neighborhood, but I've never had a problem. My uncle lives a couple miles away and butts up against some undeveloped/wooded land. He had major problems with deer starting a few years ago and ended up putting 8-foot high wire fence around his garden.
  21. Forecast for the next week has lows around freezing, highs in the low 60s. Last year was later too. I think in '12 we were finding them 3rd week in March.

Glad to know I'm not the only one running late. Just got peas, carrots, spinach, radishes and beets in the ground Sunday. We had 70+ degrees yesterday and today. Really windy, so I didn't bring anything out to harden off. Sposta be a fairly nice week, though still cooler than normal.
  23. A small, yellow lily that has green-gray leaves mottled with gray-brown spots similar to a trout. They bloom in early spring. Thanks Wikipedia.
  24. Yeah -- I think it's a caddis too. http://bugguide.net/node/view/848154
