    What's Cooking?

Nice photo! I’d keep an eye on that dude if I was you. Something about that smirk has my dad radar going off. 😄

Or, maybe too many Mint Juleps at the Koitucky Derby?

    What's Cooking?

I’ve seen and heard of achiote paste but haven’t ever used it. May have had it, not sure. What’s it made of and what’s it like?
  6. Epoxy in the eye? Head's are gonna roll down in QC.
  7. Ok, I gotta share this, but only enough to whet your appetites... BilletHead is lighting my phone up this morning. Seems he’s got his swap flies out there today.....stay tuned!

    What's Cooking?

Speaking of hellfire, I did fire up the Weber tonight and much to the chagrin of many of you, the deck didn’t catch fire. Flank steak marinated in soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and lime juice. Cooked to medium rare over coals with apple wood chips. Stir fried red bell pepper and red onion, charred flour tortillas, sour cream and La Victoria green sauce. Steak sliced thin on the bias. Served with a complimentary floss pick. Delicious.

We don’t forget so easy, Beelzebub! 🔥
  10. I gotta agree. Some great looking stuff in this swap. They’re real lookers! Looking forward to fishing them. Kinda wish I’d have zoomed in more for the pics. I wanted uniform exposure and framing, which I accomplished, but I left too much extra room for the big flies, which weren’t all that big after all. Also tried to focus on the eye, which is harder to do too far out of center.
  11. Nope -- mine are certified new. Never been wet! And, no, nobody owes me any postage. If I was worried about money I'd never be in a swap, or host a swap, or for that matter, flyfish. This was fun. I've got a bunch of flies I'm turning over and over in my hand, looking them over like a kid with new toys on Christmas morning.
  12. Pat should personally thank Phil. Two more days off OA and who knows what woulda ended up in the driveway at BilletHeadVille!

Just don’t look him in the eye and you should be ok. 👹
  14. Hah! Yup! Thanks. Would love to hear what the problem was.
  15. Well, I hear when you live together, after a while you sync up.

Chief posts first post on page 666...Coincidence?
  17. Is it your time of the month?
  18. Man, I've used the blocked website override at work so many times in the last few days I'm gonna get my hand slapped or get that privilege taken away. Better lay low for a while. Ronnie -- can you print off any good posts and just mail them to me? COD is fine.
  19. Feathers smooth and in place. But, watch that Karma -- connections are coming and going for people.

Somebody please sort this out for me.
  21. Yeah -- we've all forgotten how to click, including Phil. Please send IT support tout suite!
  22. Only my Windows-based work PC works for me. BilletHead is an Android phone and a laptop -- which I assume is Windows. Feels like it's not something related to the device itself, but more something in the stuff that happens betwixt that and the server that hosts the forum part of OA.
  23. I can just read your mind -- 'That fly is so great and it always catches fish. It's too good to keep to myself, so I'll give it away.'
  24. I moved 17 years ago, which required a thinning of the book herd. Generally a good thing I suppose. Didn't have good book shelves in the new house until about 10 years ago when I converted a room to an office and outfitted it with some nice shelves, a desk and some file storage. And the room has doors, as in, KEEP OUT when I'm working! Best move I ever made. BTW -- this thread had me pull Trout Magic off the shelves to re-read. Couldn't find Trout Madness (I'm sure I had that at one point) so I found a used one on Amazon and it's on the way.

    What's Cooking?

Man, I love pickles too. And pickled stuff. Cukes, peppers, dilly beans, giardiniera, cauliflower, beets, peppadew. Kathy's got a grandparent of a student that brings her good old fashioned lime pickles that have some jalapeno in there. Man, those things are outstanding. Ever have lime pickles? Super crispy -- quite a different texture and color than other of cucumber pickles. I've been bugging her to ask grandpa Bill for some of his 'Bill's Dills', or the recipe, before school gets out, but no connection yet. May try to make some this summer.
