  1. Hi Brian, Let me know if you're still interested. Grant
  2. I've modified my original post and added an additional gun for sale or trade.
  3. SOLD. Thanks Adam!
  4. Doesn't hurt a thing.
  5. You like the white out?
  6. The trout cam is totally white, what gives? Is it way foggy or just a technical problem? BTW, I love the trout cam!!
  7. No need to look any further than Tim's Fly Shop. First class all the way.
  8. I'm here and lovin' it!
  9. I always stay at Roaring River Resort when I'm down there. They are great people and they have good rates. Plus, Tim's shop is right next door!
  10. I rarely fish dries and use #8 Olive Wooly Buggers, #16 Bead Head Pheasant Tail and Hares Ears most of the time. I've used some large rabbit strip flies from time to time in an attempt to catch a big one and I've dabbled with myriad nymph patterns but the bead heads seem to work the best for me so far. As far as moving around a lot, what would that mean? For example, how long would it take you to work the water from Dry Run upstream to the first bridge that you'd come to? Thanks for the help Tim, I'll see you next time I'm down just like all the times I've been down before.
  11. Just looking for some insight from those that do well at RR. I usually catch 10 or 15 fish per day, but wonder what it takes to improve. I'm just looking for some tips I guess.... I can cast pretty well and I use 7x all the time with plenty of weight to get down. What am I missing that keeps me from catching 25 or more in an 8 hour day?
  12. I'm new here..... and I don't want to alarm anyone.......... or cause a panic....... but doesn't that sound like something a Vampire would say?
  13. I was down there last Tuesday/Wednesday and it was very light on the fishermen in zone 2. Lots and lots of fish in there though! It seems that the catch and release area is especially good for getting away from the crowds. Good luck!
  14. I'll be there next Wednesday as well. How long are you staying?
  15. A thought after reading Terry's excellent post..... When you get done working with your local fly shop, keep in mind that they will not be offended if you think about it for a day or two. Sometimes I tend to rush in to a decision like this and regret it later. The people mentioned above can and will give you lots of information to digest. Take a day or two to think about what they have said and talk with them more as questions come up. I think that it will make your purchase all the more pleasurable, and these guys want nothing more than to help out a fellow fly fisherman.
  16. I've seen some beginner outfits for under $100 at Cabelas and Bass Pro here in KC. Craigslist would be a good place to start if you are looking to barter. I'm always checking it for flyfishing items. Edit: Just got to thinking.... look at the Roaring River section on this site and PM a guy named timsfly. He'll hook you up and he's a great guy. Two other good resources along these lines are Backcountry Outfitters(they advertise here and have great service) and Lilley's (they operate this site and are also known for great service).
  17. Interesting... at least for me. How much weight on this rig? I'm assuming an 8 or 9 weight rod?
  18. Looks like it's time for a new avatar!! Awesome fish!
  19. If you've got low water, you can spend a whole day at Round House. At least I know that I did and had great luck.....
  20. I notice that the TT (and a lot of other lines) come with the welded front loop to make it easier to attach a leader. Would this make the presentation less delicate (scare fish)?
  21. I just got a St. Croix Avid 3 weight 7'9" 4 piece. It's pretty soft rod and I'm thinking Triangle Taper for it. What do you guys think? It will be a small stream special (Crane Creek look out!) so I'm not concerned about long casts and shooting line. Also, I have heard that TT's should be used on the next rod weight up from the line weight if the rod is soft (use a 5 TT on a soft 6). Should I get a 2wt TT for this rod?
  22. I've used the Red Squirrel nymph there with great results. I'm not sure that they are ALWAYS tied with a soft hackle, but I think they are. I used to catch fish after fish using them right above the dam. I'd use a full sinking line and cast towards the dam and slowly strip them back. Also did well with them further up zone one swinging them in the current.
  23. We fished last Wed. and Thur. Started up by the hatchery with the power eggs late on Wed with no luck. Went hiking and tried some more just up stream of Dry Hollow with no luck. The boys still enjoyed themselves. On Thur. we did some hiking first and then fished upstream of Dry Hollow with jigs on a bobber. Each of the boys got one and that made their trip! They are stoked for their next trip which is always good.... Thanks for the tips guys, I think I have some fishermen on my hands which is the best news that can come from this!
  24. I'll be traveling from Branson to RR on Wed. Looks like the most direct way is 76 hwy but Google maps disagrees. What's the best (quickest time wise) way?
  25. One more question: My wife and I will buy a license and a tag, do the boys need anything?
