  1. I should of known it was you again.
  2. Haters going to hate. I guess next time I will let the fish flop around on the grass and gravel while I dig out my camera to take a picture. Roaring River is definitely a great place for catching, but being how they are all stocked and missing fins takes some fun out of it for me. I prefer crane trout but heard some were spawning. I have caught enough 22" trout I don't need pictures of all of them. Now if I break that mark and get a 23"+ I will pull out the camera. Below the park the fish were all smaller stockers <12". I choose to keep silent on the bait I was throwing as I can't believe they ate it so well why would anyone else. The picture was taken in zone 2 at the run just above the handicap fishing area. I was at capps with a bucket that sunday, but it wasn't empty long. We both limited out while releasing more for future trips. Those fish were caught on a 1/16 ounce jig.
  3. Made my 1 trip to Roaring River for the year, I just can't keep interest in fishing the river for more than about 5 hours. Working the graveyard shift I left Kansas City after work at 3 a.m. to reach the park around 6 a.m. After maybe an hour of sleep I worked to wake up and gather the gear together. Fishing the main park area I managed 5 bows over 20" along with multiple smaller fish. 3 of the bigger fish were 21-22". Fishing solo and looking for bigger fish I didn't take many pictures. Seen a couple of the bigger fish I was looking for, but couldn't get them to react. I then went below the park and continued to catch lots of smaller fish. As for my bait, I went BIG.
  4. I made my own umbrella rig which only lasted about 15 minutes before I managed to break it off. Glad I paid $25 for materials to make my own and not the $25 for one rig. Good to see that the bait works with only 3 hooks I will have to give it another shot. The rig is definitely something else to cast and retrieve. Here is a pic of what my first rig looked like.
  5. Another great weekend. Found some new water choked with crappie on the northern end of the lake. Every laydown seemed to have a big school of crappie, here is a video that I recorded to show what the action was like. When it died I simply went to the next laydown. Before I set the camera up I had already caught 7 or 8 of this log. Caught lots of keepers from this area but my bigger fish came from elsewhere. I am sure a little more work and the bigger ones will show up. I fished black/yellow, white, black/pink, and chartreuse jigs 10"-15" under a cork to prevent snagging the tree. The color didn't matter they were ready to eat. Add in some awesome weather, 75 degrees when I left. Unfortunately 40 degrees when I pulled into the drive in KC. The water was muddy. All in all would say I had 100 fish up to 13.5", to bad the limits 15. 6 weekends of limits in a row, the fish must be ready for KS rifle season to start up http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=605344328755
  6. Put on some orange and limited out on Crappie up near Clinton today. Lot's of shooting going on. I can shrug off when I hear a gun shoot 1 or 2 times being they should have a target. However a few times there was lots of shooting, I can only think someones blindly shooting into cover trying to get the deer moving. Uncool.
  7. Anyone else been catching crappie at Truman? I have been to osage for the past 4 of 5 weekends with a co-worker and we have been walking out with our limits of crappie in a matter of hours. Fish are anywhere from 9"-14" hitting about anything thrown at them. Last trip I even managed a little spoonbill somehow. Pretty excited being it was my first. All of this done off the bank.
  8. Caught this piggy a few years back on a classified color jig

  10. Roads are clear and safe, parking lots are a little crazy but if you take it slow not a problem.
  11. found a link, it appears getting to Crane won't be a problem. Getting to the water might be interesting.
  12. Anybody know how the roads around Crane are? Modot is showing the major roads to be clear, but can't find any information on the roads between Mount Vernon and Crane (39/265).
  13. Fished Crane yesterday at the upper section, water is very low and fish are gone Seems more water may be on the lower sections so hopefully in some sections the fish will make it. Caught 1 little finger long trout there
  14. How far does the public water go downstream from city park? Is there a sign or fence to show whats public and whats private or is it more of a guessing game?
  15. I stumbled onto another swimbait that I am throwing in the pile. Same price $35.
  16. I have a variety of different baits to sell being that I never use them anymore. Most the baits have some tackle box rash with missing eyes or some blemishes in the paint. Take note some of the baits don't have hooks, but those that do primarily have quality Gamakatsu.I am looking for $35 shipped. There is nothing wrong with the baits that I know, I just have confidence in others and never throw these. Here is a basic rundown of what's included. - 3 Matt lure baby bass swimbaits ~5" - 1 Lucky Craft pointer 110 bb, the gel body is in poor condition - 1 Zara Spook - 1 Smithwick rogue - 1 Manns baby 1 minus - 3 Norman crankbaits not sure which model - 4 Bomber Model A - 1 XPS wake bait - 1 Bandit Will Skucius willskucius@hotmail.com
  17. I would up for fishing in the cold, just concerned about the launching conditions with ice forming on the ramp.
  18. While I wasn't able to make it up friday/saturday/sunday I made it monday for a little action and pulled this ugly beast out. It went 22.5" and would of been more if it had the rest of it's tail.
  19. He always looks to have smaller trout than what they really are, I guess thats one downside of being 6'6". He finally admitted to it coming from roaring river earlier this year....
  20. My friend recently sent me these 2 pics which he claims was a 22" trout he caught from Hickory creek at Neosho. Unfortunately I had to work that day and couldn't go. Not wanting to keep the fish out of the water to long he wasn't able to get a good picture of himself and the trout. To me that fish looks to have fins that are way to good for hickory fish and I have fished hickory several times and never seen a fish close to that size there. I think he might be trying to hide some other secret hole from me, what do you guys think? Anyone else see a fish this big pulled from Hickory?
  21. I am looking to get out and do some trout fishing saturday. Is roaring river going to be all screwed up due to the recent winter weather as it begins to melt?
  22. A friend took me to Crane Creek for a few hours. We fished near the dairy farm and then in town. I ended up catching 2 grass pickerel and had 2 others at the bank trying to eat my jig. That was my first time on Crane, guess I will see what happens next time. That was Dec. 13.
