I am familiar with those websites. I was more curious as to why when you could buy it for around 7 bucks. The cheapest one was eighty five. I did find one for over 300$. I wish I would have bought a truckload at 7$.

I was going to pick up another copy of the paddlers guide and couldnt find one. My dad looked it up on amazon and eBay cheapest one was 85$. It is under ten dollars. Anyone know what's going on with that.

My Coosa Kayak Mods - Pics Included
bcfish replied to MOsmallies's topic in General Angling Discussion
I am a big guy and when I do overnighters I take lots of stuff. That means I am flirting with spray all day. When I bounce off the bottom or a stray rock I get sprayed plugs are a good fix. Pop one out drain and done. -
My Coosa Kayak Mods - Pics Included
bcfish replied to MOsmallies's topic in General Angling Discussion
I saw you on the other forum. They now have scupper plugs on the website specific to the coosa. Also a little side pouch that mounts under seat and against the sides. Just ordered both and should work them up this weekend along with some other stuff. -

I am planning on going to taney to wade fish for the first time. I have done plenty fo research, but the one thing i dont know is-- what will the rains do to the generation schedule for saturday morning until around noon. i know it would be speculation but that is better than what i have at the moment. I just want to make sure there wont be too much water running for me to enjoy myself. thanks in advance.

I needed a new briefcase for work and I stumbled upon an article in a fishing mag. about Recycled Waders. They use breathable and some neoprene material from waders that people send in and what not. I ordered the messenger bag and I must say it has been a good conversation starter and is a very high quality item. Some clients and coworkers have ordered their own. Great story and very useable products, check them out.recycled waders

i like to be prepared. all of that stuff only adds maybe 15-20 lbs to the yak, makes me feel better anyway. the fishfinder comes in handy to find structure and gives the temp of the water. i do some regular lake fishing in it and am going to hit some deep strip pits labor day weekend. helps me locate those under water fishy spots. i dont take all of that stuff everytime but when i go night fishing on the river i take backup goodies.

So I finally decided it was time to buy myself a present, a new kayak. I had done exhaustive research on the subject and decided on the Mad River Synergy 12. What an awesome fishing kayak, so far so good. I have taken to Springfield lake a couple of times and also to Lake of the Ozarks. I can take all of the stuff i want and not be overloaded. I have some final rigging to do but for the most part it is perfect. I drove down to Ozark Mountain Trading Co. in Garfield, Ar to purchase it. I am glad that I made the drive, what a nice buying experience. The shops around spfd were not as helpful as I would have liked for dropping that kind of dough. I also saved some money and had a nice drive. I will try to post picks when I get it rigged out.

Taneycomo Or Other Places Saturday?
bcfish replied to Al Agnew's topic in General Angling Discussion
You could go to Crane you will be fairly close. You will also be about 45 min from Capps. You could also make it to Bennett in about an hour or Roaring River will be a little over an hour. -
I am going to try to make it back in town early enough to do some fishing on Sunday and it will either be Capps or if I get back early enough I may make my first voyage to Crane.

Sorry about joining in late. I live fairly close and am in Neosho at least once per month. I stopped by Hickory for the first time last week and saw the trash, I was looking for the white ribbon signs and only saw one. This one sign did have the regulations on it but it was small. Every parking area should have a large sign that shows the regs. I would love to join the stream team as long as I am able to work it in with my schedule. We have a three month old and its hard enough just to get time to fish. So all of that being said I was speaking with some coworkers about this and they suggested getting the boy scouts involved in the clean up as well and possibly talking to the high school about getting some kids to help. When I was in high school we did cleanups a lot. They can get community service hours for this to put on scholarships and applications. As for the boy scouts what great fun they would have being part of this and I am sure that they could earn some kind of badge for participation. I work for a company that I also think could help in advertising as far as posting signs and such locally in Neosho. I am new to this site and not sure how everything works in the forum yet, but here is my email that I check about every other day. bcrozzb@yahoo.com. If someone would like to make contact I can give them tele and a regular e mail.

How To Tell Different Weighted Flies Apart
bcfish replied to bcfish's topic in Fly Tying Discussions & Entymology
Thanks for the info. I figured on doing that but I thought maybe there would be some other options. Another question I had was when I fish something that I want to get down quick I will use a BB sized split shot. I have a hard time with strike indicators sinking. Then when I switch to a larger indicator I cant cast with all that mess without making a huge splash. I might as well throw rocks at the fish. -
I am doing some research to see what options there are out there. I am getting close to narrowing it down to a chest pack that attaches to a backpack system. There are several out there. I am also leaning towards the tech packs that look like my old vest but way cooler. Curious about what people are using and why. I have looked in the archives and have not found much of an answer about what people are using and why you might also include what type of fishing you are doing. In a park or wilderness and hiking.

I was thinking about planning a vacation in the not so distant future. I would like to do some fly fishing on this trip. I was wondering if anyone has taken any great trips and where they were. Not asking for any secret spots or anything, but I am back into the sport of fly fishing and I would love to plan a trip to take with my Dad while he is still active. No trip to large or small just tell us all about it.

When I tie something like a pheasant tail nymph I will sometimes tie it with a weighted underbody, single or double layer. I may not put any weight in it at all. How do you mark these or tell them apart without taking away from the apearance of the fly. I just started tying not to long ago, but I do find it helpful to have some heavier or lighter of the same pattern at any given situation. So please tell me what you think.

I too change my leaders quite often. I use a loop made with 20 to 30 lb test tied to the fly line and a loop in the end of this. This makes the loop smaller as long as it is seated properly, and it slides right through my guides. I am sure there are some cons to this method, but I have only found one. In windy conditions that short peice of mono can grab the leader and create a loop. This is probably my poor casting technique, but I now coat the nots with a little glue and smooth them out and havent had any problems.

Sorry about that I will try to post two differenbt ways to get it just in case one doesn't work. With the order form you can just check the boxes of all the items that you want ( up to 20) and it cost you a stamp to get it. They have various maps for smallmouth and trout streams, great to keep in your vest. http://mdc4.mdc.mo.gov/Documents/227.pdf http://mdc.mo.gov/fish/sport/trout/

Great looking fish. Thanks for posting those pics. I live pretty close to Crane but have never gone. Now I am going to make time for sure. Those are beautiful.

Who's All Going Fishing Tomorrow And Where?
bcfish replied to Phil Lilley's topic in General Angling Discussion
I am going to sneak out after a meeting in Neosho and swing by Capps on the way home maybe around 2 or 3 if anyone wants to hook up.
