Indian Point Wildlife Violators - Stringer of Short Smallmouth
fozzype replied to Ben Gillispie's topic in Table Rock Lake
Probably shouldn't discuss sting operations on Internet prior to the operation....I guess it is following Obama's military strategy -
I agree the FG knot is good...I however am using the alberto. I have broken several on purpose in my shop and disected the break "at the knot". In most cases the flourocarbon breaks inside the knot at a nearly the same exact tension (lbs) as the flourocarbon alone. If you have 8lbs flouro to 20lb braid it seams to break 1 out 4 times at the knot...I can't explain why, but it does. However, again the tension is the same as the flouro tested alone. I will say with nanofil or sufix 832 I use at least 10 wraps each way. Also, if you sub out mono for flouro, it increases break strength 20%.

If you like the bucu, you will love the hammer rod. I think they are the same basic blank and rod as the bucu with upgraded eyes..they are great people at ark rods and I have always been treated well. Just get the action you like and it will fit the needs and be comparable to much more expensive rods..

I am a flouro guy on jerkbaits. I have extensively used 12 lb but will go to 8 on cleaner stuff with no trees. Yozuri is awesome line too. However it is flouro coated mono and has a lot of stetch. Its buoyancy is between that of regular mono or flouro. I do use at times for jerks and cranks in stained water or where I am working the bait fast in late spring. I am going to try something new and was curious to any ones thoughts. I. Going to tie a 15 ft leader on 17 lb nanofil and try throwing stick bait with spinning tackle a little. You literally can throw that stuff twice as far as flouro. I have been using this setup for flicker shad and it is awesome. I use the double Albright knot for connection to nanofil with 12 wraps. I think it might allow for keeping the bait down longer in the strike zone. I guess we will see.

I use the Gen 1 revo sx in 6:4...these are as good if not better in casting distance than the bb1. The new gen 3 ones are ok, but not as good as the Gen 1 revos. I will use suffix elite 10 lb mono or 12 lb trilene pro flouro. If you pararel the bank as fast as I do, a 5:1 reel just won't cut it. Sometimes I use a 7:1. By the way, I use a 7 ft older all star cranking rod made before they were bought out. Just an awesome rod...

I have 4 older "made in sweeden" 4600c bait cast reels. I got them in an auction and have no need for them. They appear to work fine and be in good shape. They would be a good deal for kids or someone wanting quality reels at a budget price. Just offering to OA folks at a steal. $85 bucks buys all 4... Brett 4172300343
