  5. Check the line for abrasions, otherwise my guess is you're launching the bait too hard. I've tossed 2oz swimbaits on my 3/4oz rated rod before on 10lb yo-zuri before with no problem. So its not the light rod or heavy bait, most likely how you're casting it.

  10. I went ahead and tried it again after work. Same results. 9 Bass in 1hr 20mins. All were dinks except one maybe 1.5-2lbs. They were loving the pearl color. Caught one that was about 1lb and as I brung her up she unhooked onto the shore and flipped back into the vegetation nearby. As I reached my hand down to grab her...long behold a dam snake decides to pop out. Scared the crap out of me and I hate snakes. Now I was like "oh hell no" and didnt want to reach down anymore so I just watched the fish shake itself deeper into the vegetation finally into the water below. I thought it had freed itself but 10mins later I hear the fish's tail keep splashing deep in weeds. Guess it wasnt able to swim away through all the vines below. As I looked closer I see that same dam snake twisting its body around and had a grip on the fish. Not sure how it planned to swallow the fish but I decided that's enough snake for one day and called it quits around 7:20am.

  12. Yeah, where the warm water flows out. There's usually some spots I hit up that always hold fish.
  13. With water being so low, it might be a good time to go scouting for better fishing spots for next spring.
  14. Got off work at 6am. Decided to stop by Springfield lake at the outlet for the hell of it, havent been there since June. Caught 2 on a weightless trick worm, 2 on a small swimbait and 1 on a pink fluke. They were all dinks avg 1lb. Left the area at 6:57am. Missed 3-4 blow ups on a baby spook too.
  15. This has got to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen on any forum .
  16. All baits SOLD. Thank you.
  17. This is just not a good time to fish I'll tell you that. Low water, scorching heat...all in all bad conditions to be fishing. So to say the least, you're not the only one having trouble hooking up.
  18. A substitute copolymer line aside from Yo-zuri Hybrid that I have used and is super strong is TripleFish Camo Escent. This line is one tough mofo. Dont be fooled by the cheap price and large spools.
  19. I use that site all the time. If Taney is too low I dont think they'd generate at powersite even if they ran at Table Rock but I could be wrong. I also know that they dont generate on the weekends as much, so when I went Sunday I knew my odds of them generating might be a "no". I'll be planning to hit it up again on a weekday and see what happens.
  20. Getting rid of some more stuff I have never used to make room for new gear. Lucky Craft Pointer 100s lot - $50 Threadfin, American Shad, Ghost Shad, Sexy Chartreuse. Rapala X-Raps XR-8 and X-Rap Shad XRS-6 - $20 Olive Green, Hot Steel, Black and Silver. Shad is Olive Green.
  21. Not to deter you from trying but its going to be really tough to pull out anything worth fishing for. Very slow and whatever fishes you do catch are pretty small unless its a drum.
  22. Went today hope'n they would run just a little water. Brung all my big baits and not a current flowing. Caught a couple bass, a sunfish, a perch, a trout and a smallie. Thats it. Please run water!
  23. 1-3 times a week in the spring time. 2-3 times a month in the summer and fall. gear up winter time and do it all over again the next year.
  24. Thanks. Well, I'm guessing its a really tough bite since I know that place is usually a hit or miss. Was hoping those stripers would be up but without much water running through, conditions are just not desirable enough to drive down and try.
  25. lucky for you I stopped by the other day before work. place is more dead than walking zombies. seen gars and carps jumping and some small fish (probably bass) keep hitting the surface but couldnt get anything to bite. save yourself being skunked and just find a good spot above the dam on the lake. some parts of the bank down below the dam smelt horrible, rotten fish, rotten liver and worms...so yeah, try not to toss anymore "rough" fish to the pile.
