  1. would that thing even be called a spillway...
  2. go down below the dam and you will see them surfacing almost everywhere. once they show up the fishing dies.
  3. Thanks for the report man. Been debating on going up there but I'll hold off. Those dammn carps are over at truman too. Blocking all the casting areas when they surface up like that. I caught one right on the mouth the other day running my spook into the crowd haha. I was telling my buddy that I'd bet him money if he could throw his crappie jig right into the mouth of one for a hole-in-one haha .
  4. you can find curados for a good price right now. almost all the online retailerss have them on sale or discounted. I heard news that shimano was redesigning and will re-introduce the curado line-up during I-Cast 11'.
  5. Anything else? When I went up a few days ago it was crappies galore. Every cast and they didnt stop til the sun went down. The lure barely hit the water and you had one on already. Threw them all back, even some nice 11-13 inchers. After the crappies ran off, the hybrid train rolled in tho ....and even managed a walleye.
  6. There was a documentary on these people a few years ago I believe. They go out to protest in hopes that somebody will do something to cross the lines so they can sue them. They use the law to their advantage so be weary and dont do or pay any attention when you see them.
  7. Dang, nice! Looks like I'm gonna take a day to come down and try this place again. Alot closer to home.
  8. Thanks for the report vonreed. I've been wanting to come down and see how the water level is sitting.
  9. A friend just told me the east side is back open. But with little generation, the fishing was very slow.
  10. Hopefully these guys show up and just get whooped. Westboro Baptist Church plans to protest Obama's visit.
  11. Just a heads up for anyone planning on going up there and fishing the east side. The COE put up road closed signs, I guess they are annoyed by the fishermen on that side haha. You can say I didnt expect to drive all the way there and see that sign so it basically ruined my day. Since I didnt want to waste the trip, I headed over to west side and caught a few but there were alot of darn sheepheads and carps mixed in between the whites, small hybrids and crappie...even managed a channel cat. But the weather turned too unbearable with wind and rain so that cut my fishing short. PS: Not sure when they will open up the east side again so there is no telling unless you make the drive yourself.
  12. 116 deaths confirmed. I seen some pictures and damage is unreal.
  13. Nice report Slider. Thinking about hitting it up again this week if the weather doesnt get too ugly. Were the whites pretty small (11-12")? About a week ago I ended up throwing back a bunch of dinks and came home empty handed, but just catching fish was good enough for me.
  14. The fish will be there just follow the crowd. Give us a report if the action is good.
  15. Was able to get down again today and got right back into where I left off. The fish are still there and still hitting good. This time I was able to bring some topwater gear and had a blast just watching these fish nail my lures. Awesome fishing. I know with gas prices many are hesitant to make the drive so I help out by giving out reports to ya. For me these last two fishing trips have been well worth it.
  16. Get them while they are HOT guys! Absolutely killed and limited out on whites. Saw monster hybrids get pulled out and crappies were iching every cast. Was out there yesterday and they ran only a little water but man the fishing was good! Saw a bunch on topwater action on the west side. They were using chartreuse spooks and just nailing them every cast. Saw a few other guys pull out some hybrids that had to be in the 7-10lbs. I was unlucky that I didnt bring my topwater gear since I didnt think they'd be hitting near the surface yet but man did I luck out. Between me and my buddy we must of caught over 60 whites, 20 crappies, and 5 small hybrids. Cant wait to get out there again, this time I'll be sure to bring my topwater gear. P.S. they hit on the east side around 3-6pm near the little drainage area. However that same time they are hitting topwater on the west side from the fence on down before the lagoon. You need to get there a little early since the shorelines are already lining up. So you have to decide what action you want HAHA.
  17. I was able to land my first and biggest striper ever last year and man I'll tell you, there is no other feeling like it. I was amazed to see stripers come out of Bullshoals and will love to continue doing so. I've also never had trouble pulling bass out of Bullshoals either and you can ask my brother and my friends if they've any troubles either. I've seen more than a few lunkers follow my swimbaits and only wished they would of committed to the bait. This year I have caught some very nice crappies in the 13-15" range so I'm not sure were this hatred of stripers is coming from.
  18. If you look to the left before you go down to the dam, there are a few trails that lead down river. Its not gonna be pretty with all the rain lately though.
  19. I'd suggest you hit'em up quick. If you dont find them at swan head over to the dam. Talked to a few locals that said they have been pulling out walleyes every night. Saw a couple guys just slamming whites left and right. Its been a fun week, hopefully the weather doesnt cause too much disruption.
  20. This erratic weather and rise in water level is easing off the fish. Had a very tough time getting onto the fish saturday night. Alot of people fishing but not alot of people catching at all.
  21. slow roll a plastic (slider or swimming minnow) and then give it a few *pops* and repeat. trust me on this......
  22. Got into a lot of action the other day. All I'm gonna say is get 'em while they're hot.
  23. is the water shallow and low? man, i'll probably just hit that place up this weekend then.
  24. I was out there yesterday for the hell of it. Fishing at the bridge. Saw some guys on the floating dock, looks like they pulled in a few crappies from what i could see. other than that, i didnt catch anything...water was cold and a little higher from all the rain.
  25. havent been down yet but where is the new sewer plant located? by the dam?
