  1. Ps. Nice Fish Mr. Buchschacher
  2. I thought as per previous discussions as to what is legal that in zone three the pertinent part of what describes a fly in the definition was (paraphrasing here) "otherwise permanently attached." http://www.mostateparks.com/bennett/troutregs.htm Trout Fishing Regulations Zone 1 From the hatchery dam upstream to the end of the area. Only flies are permitted. Zone 2 From the hatchery dam to the whistle bridge. Only flies and artificial lures are permitted. Zone 3 From the whistle bridge to the Niangua River. Only soft plastic bait (unscented), natural and scented bait are permitted. All flies and artificial lures are prohibited, even if natural bait or scent has been added. So once again we have to define what is not a fly or artificial lure so that we can be shure that one is not breaking the law. http://www.sos.mo.gov/adrules/csr/current/3csr/3c10-20.pdf (24) Flies, lures and baits: The following are authorized for use except where restricted in 3 CSR 10-6.415, 3 CSR 10-6.535, 3 CSR 10- 11.205, 3 CSR 10-12.135 and 3 CSR 10- 12.150. (A) Natural and scented baits—A natural fish food such as bait fish, crayfish, frogs permitted as bait, grubs, insects, larvae, worms, salmon eggs, cheese, corn and other food substances not containing any ingredient to stupefy, injure or kill fish. Does not include flies or artificial lures. Includes dough bait, putty or paste-type bait, any substance designed to attract fish by taste or smell and any fly, lure or bait containing or used with such substances. (B ) Soft plastic bait (unscented)—Synthetic eggs, synthetic worms, synthetic grubs and soft plastic lures. © Artificial lure—A lure constructed of any material excluding soft plastic bait and natural and scented bait as defined in (A) or (B ) above. (D ) Fly—An artificial lure constructed on a single-point hook, using any material except soft plastic bait and natural and scented bait as defined in (A) or (B ) above, that is tied, glued or otherwise permanently attached.. *highlighed by me to show areas of relevence. even if Iam not exactcly sure what it would be ....lol Now with out the big words I take all that to mean you could fish a "scented soft plastic scud" as long as it is not tied or permanently attached to your hook.
  3. Just a suggestion but go to a fly shop and try several different "lot lines" on each and possibly buy a a sinker and floater for both. Even if it means picking up a couple of extra reels or spools. The reason behind this is that both rods are different animals and while 5/6 could be used for much of the 8s duties the eight will do other things better than the lighter rod. Such as cast giant poppers and bass flies. Variety is a spice of life after all. I still want a 8wt and maybe a one or two weight also.
  4. If I am reading correctly they have gates that they close at 10pm. Does this make night fishing (Taney)an all or nothing deal? http://www.mostateparks.com/tablerock/camp.htm
  5. Very low prices. I agree entirely but I may also add that If you are looking for a big fish reel you my want to go with something more established for those salmon or strippers. (think I remember you posting about a drag thrashers trip recently, Mike) I was really thinking more about the waders for kids for those parents not wanting to drop a lot of coin on something to be out grown. JJ
  6. Very nice!!! Looks like your getting in some quality wading time.
  7. 70% off selected merchandise. http://www.albrighttackle.com/index.html Cheap breathable waders !!!! http://www.albrighttackle.com/bridgestone-waders.htm
  8. Dano and Phil, Thanks for putting up with a very passionate election year and helping to keep all in line with the boundaries that have been set. Its all most over and then most of the hoopla will be done and over with. I think that allowing a responsible exchange of opinions. Was a good thing and was well handled by the administration of this family oriented board. I know that the discussions amongst my family is never as well behaved when it comes to politics. Thanks again JJ
  9. Pop figuring them out at the end of the catch and release section. Cool breezes, warm sun, very moderate temps. Chilly sleeping temps. Started in the afternoon after setting up camp in a mostly empty park campground (at least in the basic/ primitive camping section). The crowds were at a minimum mostly retirees and a few groups of fishermen. With weather like that I would give this trip a A but with as much catching as we did I would have to up the grade to a A+. Water was perfect up a bit and slightly green and cloudy in pools and deeper channels. No monsters caught but did see a few. Most fish were 10 to 14 inches in size. Had the most fun and success with EHC with red and black zebra midge droppers. Probably had ten to one hits verses the caddis , but did have plenty of takes on the dries. Also caught with soft hackles, buggers, and crackle backs. Did start the second day with a red "egg pattern" that did the damage on a bunch of the early morning hatchery fresh fish at the dam. Seemed that a few of the fellas around bouncing jigs and throwing spinners on the ultra lights did well also. The weather and the park were the real stand outs of the trip.
  10. Good report and very nice smallie there Rich!!!

  19. Agreed Voted yes. I fish for em all but will target a large fish if spotted. There for I don't consider my self a real lunker hunter. Every brown and personal best I have caught has been released and I don't think that would change no matter the size. I do eat some bows. I do use mashed/barbless hooks. I also don't feel that they should be regulated. No dead/fake fish on my walls I am entirely to cheap to pay for one of those.
  20. Nice Pheesh
