  1. Well first off welcome to the O.A.F. board Woodchuck. As far as what rod to but dont buy anything to fast(action)as a beginner IMHO it will help you feel the rod load better if you went with a medium, medium/fast action rod and I don't know weather or not TFO is made in the USA( is also a concideration when I make a any purchase) however I have casted them and there nice rods. I would try out several rods at the local fly shop with a little bit of casting instruction to tell ya exactly what your feeling while casting also. JJ
  2. Updated first post Ok I received two more sets. One more set to go and to the post office I will go. JJ
  3. Howdy otherbum welcome to OAF
  4. I have had blood, mud, general camp crud, on my BP cheapo breathables. In the past usually once it all gets built up enough that I start to notice it all. I break out a clean sponge with a little dish soap and wipe em down then take the hose to them. There is how ever washing machine instructions on the inside of them. Im just not willing to let my machine put my waders where ever those lost socks get to.
  5. If I can get there. I would prefer the end of the week. So that I could extend my stay through the weekend. (thats called choosing both sides of the coin)
  6. Only two more people needed. YOU CAN DO IT !!!!!
  7. Ummmm.. Teacher forgot to do her homework!..tisk tisk Yep, No biggie I figured out that this due date coincided with another much more important "due date". Just got back from the post office myself There are a couple of others batches. That have yet to have made it in also. I'm sure that people will also have then here shortly. JJ
  8. Holy smokes and I am normally happy with a bread bag or two! How would you even begin to store those? I don't have close to enough room in the fridge. Nice haul tho. JJ
  9. Howdy I assume that the extra travel time will be well spent fishing. Welcome to O.A.F.
  10. Welcome to OAF
  11. Pretty sure I will be there!
  12. no problem with that here His will have a special toe tag for added guality control.
  13. There has been a generous offer by Rolan Duffield our resident photog guru to take and post pictures of our files that have been submitted. If there are no objections I will send a set of nine to him and each of you and only tie and keep one set for myself. Also got another set in today and updated the first post. JJ Thanks Randall
  14. Actually if the tiers of Soft hackle and winged wet swap don't mind. I could drop my extra and forward a set of nine to him. So ill post the suggestion over here and see what everyone decides. Think its a great idea personally. Thanks for the offer Rolan. JJ
  15. Well its old and brown with 7 gold wire type wraps over the black ones has to be 9ft with only six guides. And its the first fly rod I ever used, caught a fish with or ever repaired.(even tho I did a terrible job.) Now its mine after years of eyeballin it. It has a South Bend 1122 with a new 7wt bassbug taper line on it. In fact as soon as the weather warms up again its going back to a buddie's pond to hopefully catch a few more bass and monster carp or two. Its not pretty nor do I have a label to say what kind of rod it is even tho I would lean toward it being a South Bend also since many of my fathers old rods that I also have now have seem to be. My Dad is still fishing strong even if we don't get to go together as often as I would like. But he is always fishing with me in spirit when its one of his old rigs I am using. However his rods arn't around if he is actually fishing beside me. Wouldn't want him to know how sweet those "old technologically inferior rods and reels actually are." JJ
  16. Would like to participate. Will be following this thread
  17. Ahh...the time laps was not in my head for once. and 200th post
  18. Well got a couple batches of flies in yesterday so I updated the first post and felt a little guilty since I hadn't even clamped a fly in my vise for the swap so I turned out my first set also. I think every one so far has done a great job not only with there ties but also there packaging Now I just gotta get a camera so I can post that pick with all those flies stuck in my fingers like Mrs.Ducky requested. JJ ps. Thanks Steve
  19. Nice if he wasn't hooked on trout fishing before bet he is now !!!
  20. Hows about I tie "Rick's Caddis" its a simple nymph but a good one all the same.
  21. No biggie DeepDiver. I can vouch that some of your flies have caught me plenty of fish in the past.
  22. watchin or playin there is a big differance?
  23. I have targeted gar using frayed nylon anchor rope before and it worked well might want to hook it through a buzz bait as a trailer or something of the sort. The bigger issue is the releasing the toothy things. I was beaching them on the river so wasn't trapped in a boat with one Good luck, JJ
  24. WELCOME diggerdave
