  1. Lots of things moving around right now. It's a great time to be on the water. For your viewing pleasure remember to keep a safe distance. Details: http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/
  2. Only had a few hours but I couldn't resist the urge to fish so I loaded up and made a quick trip to a new area. Shallow Lake access at Felsenthal. Had a good time. Lookd really fishy!! Details: http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2014/09/felsenthal-water-trail.html

Nice bass...never seen a muskie in real life but I know I'd be happy to catch 1 while I was bass fishing. Sounds awesome to me!!
  4. Last time I was there, I saw about 20 SM fish heads floating in the water and too many floaters on the water and camped at snow. I decided to stop posting reports with location. I'll do what other's do and post in the Smallmouth Talk area w/o specific location. I don't have anything against catch and cook...just don't want my reports to be used for that purpose. I CPR all my SMB. Too many other fish in the area that can be cleaned.
  5. Had a fun trip Sat. Details: http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/
  6. Doing my best to keep this part of the forum active, lol. Made it out today hoping for the pre-front bite. It started just when I had to leave but I caught enough that I stopped taking pics and just fished. Good day. Details: http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/
  7. Thx everyone! Most times I'm fishing in SE Arkansas but travel all over AR and LA fishing. This trip was in Felsenthal NWR between El Dorado and Crossett, AR. Hope this answers your question, not trying to be vague, lol.
  8. Good times at the refuge...despite my best efforts to sabotage my latest outing. Details at: http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/
  9. Hope everyone had a great weekend of fishing and hanging with family. I certainly enjoyed myself. Need something to do while you rest, check out my 2 part report at: http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/
  10. Armed with the intel I learned last week I hit Felsenthal NWR again...much better results!! See the story: http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/
  11. Sounds like a great deal. Someone should jump on that...wish I could!
  12. Ham - I had triple digits. The reading in my truck said 101F...not what you meant. I hear it's great. I've seen the fish heads at the boat ramp. I just need to get out there more. There are so many places to fish w/in an hour of my house, it's hard to fish the same places enough times to learn them. I plan to spend more time in the refuge this year...I'll be sure to update my progress. Looking forward to fall fishing. F&F - I know what you mean. I have an aluminum boat and after a few trips decided it was better to take the yak. Fishing alone and in the refuge w/o cell service, the yak means getting back to the truck on time. However, this is the only place I've almost been run over by a duck boat. Got within 15 ft before he turned away...close call.
  13. Had some time to fish so I went to the refuge. It was hot! Got a few fish. See below: http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/
  14. If you decide to do Rush to Shipps...leave the fishing poles at home. No chance to fish, you'll be busy paddling or walking. Maumee to Rush would be my choice. Most likely you'll see other floaters but the temps are going to keep a few campers off the river. If you camp at the gravel bar just after Buffalo point you'll have about 6 miles of water to fish w/o floaters on Sunday...assuming you leave early. As far as the fishing...probably not ideal conditions. But if this is when you can go don't sweat it. You'll be in awe of the river. Take tubes/wacky worms/floating 4" worms and you'll catch some. Clousers and craw patterns work on the fly...I'd take a few hoppers and poppers and test the top water bite early. I've had a few trips in the ozarks this year and posted fishing reports in my blog.
  15. My opinion. It's a kayak, get the cheapest available...especially if your hard on gear. You'll really only use it for depth and temp...remember you'll be limited my winds, power boat activity, etc. I use a atv/lawn battery fits in a milk crate, with the transducer attached...all 1 single piece if gear. Like Ham siad, 9 out of 10 times I use my paddle or drop the line and pick it up to see how far it fell.
  16. Ha, ha...they work pretty good. Hook up ratio is worse but they'll eat em.
  17. We got bass killing frogs down in SEArk. Full report: http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/
  18. Had the chance to get back again last weekend. Fishing was pretty good the fall bite is right around the corner. Full report: http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/
  19. If you haven't seen this it's a great read. 3 parts, part 3 is most important for those that camp along rivers. http://lonestarchronicles.com/back-to-the-pecos-part-one/
  20. Awesome fish. Glad to hear it's still swimming...great job on that.
  21. My method in a boat. 2 rods set in quarters...1 off the bow and 1 off the port...I start on a main lake point. After 10 min I switch to stern and starboard. After 20 min I use my TM to move about 100-150yds off the point, to deeper water or in to the middle of a cove or something. I rig 1 line with liver and the other with live bait. After 2 moves I relocate to a completely new area. After a few hours I go home. Off the bank, take a cooler full of cold drinks and wait'em out! I find that if I wait longer then 20 min I catch gar
  22. Truly a Catch of a lifetime. Congrats!!
  23. Nice report. The pig, well that's just wrong...the nerve of some animals. At least the coons normally run away. But it's the skunk that makes me bungee my lids down and pack my food in the car. I had a visit from one years ago and it wouldn't leave no matter what we did and we didn't do much!!
  24. Ham-yes it's a cuda 12. I owned a native ult for a few yrs but you can't take it thru the surf.
