  1. We run leadcore alot to get baits down.....But if you don't have leadcore, you have to use baits designed to run DEEP. The number 11 taildancers work great but are costly..Reef runner 800 series, deep diving husky jerks. It takes a lengthy amount of line (more than normal fisherman use) to get them deep.....Bomber Fat free shads are also a very good bait.
  2. How about this,,,,you bass guys quit keeping walleyes when you catch them and I will quit keeping bass.......Fair trade....He, he......By the way this post was just jokin around, even though I have seen alot of bass guys throw an incidental walleye into the livewell on TR after they catch it and are happy about it....I too, am glad for them. However, when I throw a 15 inch kentucky in the livewell they think a mortal sin was committed. There are a hell of alot less walleye in TR than Kentuckies, so why don't everyone, release the walleye to give them a fighting chance. Comments are definitely welcome because I have wondered about this and would like to hear a bass fishermans opinion.
  3. As far as the Table Rock traffic, ain't no thing for the Danger Ranger......And by the way, I kind of agree with the limit fact, I would like to know where they were at. BY the way, rest assured I release all large and smallmouths caught...I have a soft spot for smallies as I love to catch them. Never, ever taken the butcher knife to one..Same for largemouths.... I'd rather fish the very sparce population of eye's, they are alot more challenging.
  4. Thank you Fly Guy, you hit the nail on the head.......A bass is a fish, a fish with filets that eats like any other..so who cares as long as it is legal, eat it. I'll be going after TR kentuckies for the frying pan this week. Also good baked and grilled.
  5. Its your fish RPS you can call the color of the wart anything you want......Oh yeah, aren't those the first eyes in the new rig. If it is, thats the way to break her in.
  6. RPS is the man.....did you get to see how big the one you lost was. Is it worth me going up there and fishing for it. He, he. Good job.
  7. I'd rather have someone fly by me anyday of the week than slow way down and pull a wake behind them. I haven't been to TR lately, where is the island at point 9 at. I have seen more than a few novices fly over it at high speed and destroy some props.
  8. Never tried them Ham but they would probably work better behind a snap or trolling weight weight.
  9. There likely more there then. I'd remember that point.
  10. Funny you say that PD, the new guy got a 48 incher on a crawler harness. I thought he was going to poop on himself when he got it in. He,he, all I could think of was you.
  11. I done pretty well around Lead Hill this week and used 1 1/2 ounce bouncers. 2 ouncers were to heavy and seemed to get snagged more. Caught them everywhere from about 14 feet down to 30 feet. My bigger fish came from trolling larger cranks in the deeper water. Like AW nothing over about 21 or 22 inches. I want to find the BIG eyes. They are around somewhere.
  12. I'll be down Tuesday afternoon for 2 1/2 days of solid fishing-----I feel it may be reef runner time!
  13. CLF989s, Wal mart in Spingfield, are you serious? I am coming down this week and need some. Are they pretty stocked up usually and what are their sizes like.
  14. I've been itchin' to get out the big reef runners and it feels like the week to do it. I'll be down and fishing Tuesday afternoon, wednesday, and Thursday, silver ranger 620vs with cherry and marroon aceents..Dual windshield...I will prolly be around Lead hill mostly so stop and visit if you are out and about.
  15. My dock is the one with all of the rebar snags under it. Makes it east to collect baits from the poor bass fishing souls. Also love to see jigs broke off on the rails and dangling, texas rigged worms on the floor broke off.
  16. Fish deeper , the big girls are there.
  17. This is true. Haven't heard of ya' fishing lately Mike.....I'll be down next week with an amateur trying to show him the walleye ropes....Has there been much going on?
  18. I don't know I was checking the mast systems out the other day. Kind of thinking of getting one.......Maybe.
  19. Professor Jim, Leadcore and lots of trolling are usually the ticket...BB and crawler harnesses as well.
  20. Columbia river is another possibility.....There are still alot of big eyes in the southern lakes..There was one caught by a forum member a couple of years ago that weighed 17.4lbs out of the BS headwaters..Me and and another fellow lost one at the boat that was figured to be over 15lbs easily..There are also some large ones you don't hear about caught on the upper kings River in the spring..There was an old guy up there bank fishing a couple of years ago, that had 3 on a stringer, all weighed in between 12 and 14 lbs. Big females full of eggs.
  21. Another point, alot of walleye guys me included feel the next world record eye will again come from the White river system. Unknown where, but somewhere, TR, BS, Beaver who knows.....Even some of the northern guys feel the same way. There are alot of chances out there in our southern lakes for a world class walleye. Hope someone on one of these forums catches it as well.
  22. Cool beans, guess I will have to make another trip to Cabelas
  23. That is the absolute truth
  24. Keep em chummed Mike I'll be down the week after! I am thinking the thermocline may be set by then.
  25. Water temps have to be just about right to fish leeches if it isn't they will ball up on the hook. I didn't even know we could get leeches in Missouri without ordering them. I am used to buying and saving them after coming back from Lake Oahe South Dakota. The bass on our lakes down south absolutely go nuts over them as well. I have caught alot of BIG smallie and kentuckies on TR while fishing leeches for eyes. Usually on a split shot or on a plain hook and bottom bouncer.
