I just went through this and decided on a topwater 2150 with a 60/40 mercury jet. I was originally leaning towards a supreme but all the guides that I talked to convinced me topwater was the boat to get. Plus in my opinion it is a much better looking boat than the supremes. Fit and finish on this rig is great and topwater has the jet rigs figured out. They run much flatter especially when fully loaded. I'm a big fan of the jet and think it's advantages far outweigh the negatives. The 60/40 might be a little more than is needed but you certainly won't be under powered.

Looking to sell my Supreme River Boat with a Johnson 30 jet. This is a 20' boat and is a 42" wide model. Boat is in good condition just had the transom rebuilt this summer by Supreme and while they had it they did a full inspection to repair any major issues. Everything is great it has definitely seen some use and has scratches and chips but is very solid. Motor is a 2 stroke and has electric start and is very reliable. After an initial cold start it will start up with one touch every time. I am religious about keeping the pump greased and my father in law is a boat mechanic so I have taken good care of it. Will include 2 spider seats a captains chair and a foot operated trolling motor. Has a great trailer as well and I keep up on greasing it and every so often replacing the bearings. Looking to move this quick as I am getting a new boat and my price reflects. I talked with a guy I know at supreme and he indicated the boat/trailer is worth no less than 4K. I am valuing the motor at $200 more than what it cost to get a pump for it. The pump is $1800.. This would be a great boat for someone and the jet makes it so easy to navigate skinny water. I'd be willing to take $5500 obo. Please feel free to call or text 314-680-1233 my name isDustin. Titles in hand for all 3 boat/trailer/motor

I am headed down to the white for a week and I own a drift boat. I was wondering what are some popular access points to use. I would like to do a few half day floats and a few full day floats. I would also like to put in up at the dam one day. I am unfamilar with floating the river and was curious what you guys would suggest. I have wade fished the white quite a few times. Does anyone have any suggestions on shuttle services as well?

I appreciate all of the help Bman, and I am going to check out those websites. If you dont mind whenever I come up with an idea of what I want I will shoot you a message to see what you think.

Well Bman like I said this is my first boat, im not buying one tommorow but am actively looking. So if you had some suggestions I would appreciate them, I dont really know where to start. What kind of boat do you use, motor, length etc. If it helps I will usually be fishing with 2-3 people including myself, and most of my fishing will be on rivers but the ocasional smaller lake. Im not looking to spend a fortune, but I would like to get something that I will enjoy fishing out of.

I build custom fishing rods, and am wanting see if anyone out there is interested. I lathe all of my own custom handles with burl cork, exotic burl, different types of antler, horn, wood, and others types of materials. I build all types of rods, fly, casting, and spinning rods. I also do very intricate and unique feather inlays, and on my last rod used some diamondback snake skin for a butt wrap. I am willing to work with any type of rod blank that you would prefer, and also any color options you would like for your thread wraps. I usually use fuji guides on my spinning and casting rods, and hopkins and holloway on fly rods. If you prefer something different that is fine, I can build it however you would like. If you are interested let me know and we will meet up. I have also attached some of my recent rods for you to look at. Thank you

Thanks for all the feedback, and Bman I will look into a jet boat

I am thinking about buying a boat in the near future, and dont know what to buy. This will be my first boat, and I wanted to see what everyone has to say. I do alot of fly fishing on taneycomo and the white river, and might be moving to montana in a year. I also do some bass fishing and smallmouth fishing. I have been looking at some drift boats, they seem like they would work best for fly fishing, but was wondering how it would be if I took it onto a lake. Like I said most of my fishing will be on rivers, but the ocasional lake outing. Also has anyone put a motor on a drift boat if you guys think this is a good route. Let me know what your opinions are, should I go with something other than a drift boat.

New Casting Reel
BigD1030 replied to smallmouthjoe's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
I agree with everyone Shimano makes a great reel. I own some curado's and they are smooth and the 7:1 ratio is awsome for finesse fishing it is a pleasure to use. I also use some Shimano Calcutta's which are my personal favorite they fish like a dream, but they cost a little more than a citica or curado. I think you can pick one up at BPS for around $180.oo. you might want to check them out. This year I went to Lake Baccarac in Mexico and took out the Calcutta out for the first time and was very pleased. -
I have been to taney a few times and night fished this week. Almost all week they have been running 3 generators during the day around 8pm they have been turning it down to 2. Around 1130 midnight they have been shutting it down to 0 units. Thats what it has been for the past few days, but who knows if it will stay the same.

I build my own custom rods, and currently trying to turn it into a side buisness. Rodbuilding is like anything else you can spend as little or as much as you want. To start out I would purchase a thread tension device, which you can find fairly inexpensive. Infact I think cabelas makes one thats around thirty dollars, and flex coat makes one that is simialr in price. I have never used preformed handles, I lathe all of my own handles. Which you might look into further down the road, you can create beautiful pieces of art this way. Sky is the limit, all the different choices of burl cork, and I like to incorperate antler and different types of horn and bone into mine. Back to the subject, I would also check out www.anglersworkshop.com they also carry alot of differnt types of rod building supplies. After you have a thread tensioner and your blank you will need to buy some rod bond for your handle and epoxy for your thread wraps. I would suggest U-40 trondak products, I have tried several types and I like theirs the best. You should also look into getting some color perserver for your thread, or you can purchase pre treated thread. I would also think about trying some feather inlays on your rod, they can really distinguish it from others. Along with that you should consider some type of label or decal, that dispalys that you have built it and what size and wt it is. A website that you should check out is www.rodbuilding.org they have many forums and photographs that you could check out. If you would like any further information send me a pm, I would be glad to help you out.

I appreciate the information Michael, I will come in and talk to you and take a look at some of the streamers you suggested. I would also like to look at some sinking line, I do not own any. I have been looking into buying a new reel so maybe before I go I will invest in one, and purchase a extra spool and get some sinking line.

I am planning a trip down to the White River in a few weeks. I usually go a few times a year, however I never fly fish. I always go and throw jerk baits from a boat. This time I am looking to wade, and fly fish. I am wondering what are the best flies to use this time of year, tippet size etc. Any other tips will be appreciated, if it helps I will be fishing within a few miles of the dam. Also wondering how night flyfishing is on the white and what to use.
